  1. I hope that's not all they wrote! I really appreciate a good log and it really earks me when I get the list of accronyms as a log entry. But i think that's on another post! Took Nothing, Left Nothing, Signed Log. (i.e. got my smiley and ran!)
  2. I sat down with my family to try and figure out what would be a good name to represent us and they were all taken. I guess that's what happens when you join the game this late! So we started looking through song titles from our I-Tunes and came up with The Lazy Sunbathers from Morrissey, the origanal singer from the popular british 80's group "The Smiths". Every now and then I come up with a new idea for a name and check it out on GC.com and find it available. I actually stole one that I intend to use when I find caches without the rest of the family, Sum1 (someone). If your interested I think that sum1notu is available! I would take it but I think that one "extra" account is enough!
  3. Where's it at now? Is there a way to check on the graph after adding your info?
  4. All the ALR stuff that everyone else has mentioned is key to your idea. I think that your idea is totally doable though with some clever wording and imagination! I'm pretty sure that you can't create anymore virtuals too. I'de have to look again but I'm almost positive. I'm going to FL this Christmas and I'll check before I go to see if any of these are up!
  5. Same problem here! I even tried using FireFox as my browser. FF would let me do one download and then I had to reload the plug in software and do it all over again! Then I found out in another forum the same thing mentioned above. Download IE7 and all will be fine! The pop up window is a little different but all works the same! Good luck!
  6. Only had time to play around using a new software to me... anything like this... ps. it's still a draft image. I'm still having trouble getting it to stay close to the colours I select when shrinking... Just want to know if this is the right direction... Doug Sorry for the late response! I think the concept is perfect. Maybe have a few Z,Z,Z's coming out near the head like he's sleaping! What program is the most popular for creating these avatar pics? I'de like to try and learn how to create these on my own too! Thnx.
  7. Where do you get those? It looks very useful. Thanks in advance, Griz I found this one at Target, but most hardware stores have them. It's a portable key safe. I am using one of these as a mystery/puzzle cache right now. I made a short story/riddle that is used to figure out the combo. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...b1-dc992387745f
  8. Too bad this board doesn't have a "Don't Be A Jerk" rule... If only... Sorry for the side note on this thread but Star*Hopper is pretty proud of himself and actually put "Banned for life" as his forum title on his profile page. I wanted to see how much of an authority he was, not impressed! Anyway, I still say small, small, regular
  9. Thank you for forgiving me, I really needed that. I sincerely apologize for trying to help you -- I won't make the same mistake again. Have a nice eternity. ~* LAME Crocket, I would agree with everyone else that the Groundspeak containers are a small, small, regular based on the product description and everyone elses input. But what do I know I've only got four hides instead of 35. I only hope that the response from Star*Hopper hasn't taken away any of your excitement towards placing your first cache. Go with your gut and remember to have fun cause no one wins!
  10. Lately when I search for caches from my home coords and use the google map feature I get a little pop up box in the bottom right corner preventing me from using that side of the map. There isn't anything even in the pop up and it won't let me close it! Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? If so how did you get rid of it?
  11. One that's hidden and approved by the reviewer! While I was preparing for my first hide I did the same thing your doing now which really helped. I also was fortunate enough to know an avid cacher who gave me some pointers and let me run some ideas by her. The best advice I can give you that has already been mentioned is to get a really good fix on the location with your GPS and use a good container. Congrats on your first hide. Get ready for the anticipation and excitement of the logs!
  12. When I first started I felt like a failure when I couldn't find my first cache and logged my DNF. It hurt so bad to do that so I didn't do it again! A little over dramatic but true! I've grown though after reading several threads about this subject and especially after I started hiding some of my own caches. Once I hid a cache I totally got the rush you get when someone finds your cache that you put a lot of thought into, and the "gotcha" when you get the DNF. Now I won't rob anyone of there derserved logs whether its a or ! Logging DNF's only keep honest people honest!
  13. I was just lookig through some clip art in word to see if I can come up with some sort of template or idea but I'm not coming up with anything right off. Maybe I can get some help from this thread. What I picture for "The Lazy Sunbathers" is a big guy sleeping in a beach chair, all sunburned with the sun overhead with some sort of geocache logo in it. Or maybe a big beach umbrella with the with the logo colors on it. I'll keep looking but if you can hook a brother up I'de be totallly stoked!!
  14. Posting the tracking number can result in virtual logging. This is consider abuse of the system and can result in the bug being locked down permanently, even if it was inadvertently provided. People do look for these numbers and will move them into caches half way around the world or list them on sites so many people can log the TB. This does happen and bugs do get locked. Trust me. That sucks! It really urks me that people would ruin that for you! Thank you so much for helping me out before something like that happened to me! I owe you one!
  15. I think you'll want to remove the tracking number from the photo. You can use Microsoft Paint to smudge it out. Otherwise it's very nice! This is news to me! Is it unethical to leave the number or can someone steal it? Please advise. Thnx
  16. I have a few TB tags laying around and while I go shopping I keep an eye out for little nick nacks to attach one to and found the perfect one! I'm not sure if this has been done before or not, and in a way I kinda think it would be cool to be the first one to think of this. I know that can't be though cause it makes to much sence and Caching has been going on for some time now. Anyway here it is, The Micro Bug Please let me know what you think.
  17. I figured that's what it was, and that's most likely why my instinct was to uncheck it when I signed up! I spotted a travel bug that said if you found it back in 06 you could register to win a brand new '07 Jeep. I thought that would be awsome and thought that this third party thing had something to do with that! If sounds to good to be true.....
  18. Yeah I've been looking ever since I posted and can't find it either! The only way I see it is when I log out and go to the create a free account page. When you scroll to the bottom the Third Pary notifications check box is available but I can't find it anywhere else! If I had any hair left I'de be pulling it now
  19. I was setting up my sister in laws account and noticed a block for third party notifications from garmin, jeep, etc.... When I set up my account I didn't check that block and I've been trying to figure out how to set up those notifications, and haven't been able to figure it out. Is it possible to get them after checking "no" when I started my account? Is it worth it to get the notifications? What kind of notifications are they any way? I was hoping that they are notifications of free, super cool gear but it could just be SPAM. Help me out. Thnx
  20. I've ran into a few cachers while out caching. It's always a little bit of an odd experience for me. The first time I ran into someone they were calling to me saying "Do you like my hat?" I was thinking that some weirdo was talking to me but when I looked closer he had on a geocaching hat. The second time I ran into a cacher we were in a park with lots of trails and we ran into each other right when I got to GZ. He said that he didn't have that one loaded into his GPS and continued on his way the cache he was going for! I thought that was a little odd, cause I had the coords and was more than willing to share. Maybe it was an ethical dilemma with him, I don't know. The third time was when I was giving up on a night cache and ran into a team that just started the hunt. We worked together up to where I got lost and then I said enough, left, and wished them good luck, went home and logged the DNF. Still havn't seen the other DNF or Find, huh. I think that I've been training my self to be so inconspicuous that I don't even want to get caught by another cacher! I do really like to meet the people behind the name though.
  21. We grew up around that area and that entire mountain range is known by the locals as "a** Pass" because of all the wild donkeys.
  22. OMG! Is this guy for real!!! My kids are dying to know why I, out of no where, started LMAO. Freaking awesome!! Anyway, I try to wear my geo shirt (so others will know), good pair of jeans, and my awsome Kelty back pack outfitted with all the geocaching fixins! How can I type about this right now I can't stop laughing!!!
  23. I am one of those guys who can't get out as often as I would like and actually enjoy watching all of the YouTube webisodes of geocaching! It's like I'm really there! I do see some problems with it being a serious show though. 1. I see this as a huge spoiler! Especially if it shows exactly how to complete a 5/5 step by step. I think that people put a lot of work into some of their caches and would be upset if they were spoiled like this. 2. I don't see it being able to stay on air for to long unless it was kind of like a game show. I liked the whole amazing race/survivor ideas I've read about in some ot the other posts. 3. Keep it more professional, like not cursing, running out of batteries, getting lost. I mean, come on, getting lost, really. As we say in the CG you should always be "Semper Paratus" especially when trying to sell non geocachers on the sport. 4. What really turned me on to Geocaching was it's anonymity. Knowing that for years I've been unknowingly driving and walking by all of these hidden treasures. Having a TV Show about it takes away that entire aspect, which I know for sure is a big reason a lot of people do it. 5. If it for some reason went main stream, it would have to have a more interesting host and plenty of guests who know more about Geocaching and who had some serious wildlife credentials if they are intending on handling wild life. (which was stated by Geo Man as a wildlife collector for zoo's) Anyway, if had a vote in the matter, I would vote no to a main stream show. I think that it should stay in the geocaching community as youtube videos. That way only geocachers will be watching the spoilers and not anyone who would like to "geodump" in some caches!
