  1. Trains a plenty today doing Railway Ramble Cache The fast through train leaving a trail of raised snow "mist" in it's wake.
  2. Nearby windows overlooking cache site . Bovines in field on route to cache . Ivy . Ammo cans. (says Mrs T.A because she can't open most of them) Our D.N.F.'s (always logged) on caches that everyone else , before and after, logs as "easy find ".
  3. Another advert for a branded product .This time Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter . A bit smaller than half a can of baked beans with a peel off label . (Mrs T.A. says it's nice vanilla smelling hand cream. )
  4. A couple of snippets about bluebells. "Although the bluebell is widespread in Britain, it is globally threatened, and British populations represent 25-49% of the world's total. Even in Britain, the bluebell faces threats from large-scale unsustainable removal of bulbs for sale, destruction by picking and trampling and hybridisation with non-native plant species, such as the Spanish bluebell." http://www.bgci.org/ourwork/bluebells/ "It is not grazing, though, that is the major problem for Bluebells, but trampling of the leaves that really causes the damage, reducing the plant’s ability to obtain the foodstuffs needed to sustain the underground bulb through the long autumn and winter period." http://www.newforestexplorersguide.co.uk/s...uebellpage.html
  5. We are still in the process of remembering to look in the additional waypoints for parking co-ords .We keep ending up without any when in the field because we have only printed main text .Trust us to be contrary.lol
  6. A Gaggle of Cachers . Chat ,chat ,chat ,chat ,chat when you bump .
  7. It's so obvious to us ,we cannot hope to understand what you don't understand. Do not intend to say more .
  8. If even just one muggle's money is not wasted on one more police callout to a caching incident in the London Royal Parks the refusal gets our vote of aprooval .Dare we say that here? Ooops! just have .
  9. From the above cache you could seek GC267KA and nearby GC1FDW2 . Easiest route being to relocate to Ober Corner car park, near the entrance to the camp site , and then walk/cycle along the gravel track to the Bridge .Also a great place to paddle .
  10. The multi "Guess who " 1YF4C starts near Bolderwood Deer sanctuary ,across the road from the car park . At 2.00pm ( Web site info) a keeper feeds deer in a meadow .There is a viewing platform with info . Be warned ,there is usually an ice-cream van in Boulderwood car park and it gets crowded on a nice day . Near to Bolderwood is at Mogshade memorial and cache "Little Canada " GEPD.(very short walk ) Further along the road ,a car ride away ,is cache "SSSS" GC1G82Z . A scream at the first stage could be expected . The final leads to near the Reptile Centre where if you are lucky you can view Adders and other reptile ( safely out of reach in their concrete pits ,they are sometimes hard to spot )) In Wilverly Inclosure are several caches along easy tracks including "Ellies Wellies " RFM9 and "Bouncy Tree -A Treat for Mum's and Kids" GC2510M. A map of cycle routes available to help anyone plan their longer cycle routes . http://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/new-forest-...-cycle-code.pdf
  11. Re-assuring to read I'm not the only person to have to custom fit my footwear. I found my boots too slack around my narrow heel ( so out of proportion to my wide square toes ) til I took out the insoles that came with the boot and replaced them with "High Profile Superfeet " (Braisher Hillmaster boots because slimmer boots no good to me because of wide square toes ,low ankles etc ) The "Superfeet " insoles are not cheap(last purchased at £32a pair ),but they did the trick for me . Stopped heels slipping with every step ,blisters on heels and holes in socks . The heel section of the "Superfeet " insole is thicker than the usual insoles provided with boots named above , and has sides that come up about 1cm around heel to help stop sideways slip On shoes I need to attach sticky backed chiropody felt around inside of heel area and some way along the sides ( slimmer shoes no good because wide toes ) Being white, the felt does show a bit ( if anyone looks hard )But better bit of felt showing than not walking because no shoes fit. The felt (purchased from a well known aptly named highstreet chemist ) is intended to be stuck on skin , but I find it sticks much better to insides of my shoes than any purpose bought "heel grip " I ever tried The felt when bought is very thick but is easily made less thick . Costs several pounds a packet but worth it to me .
  12. We 're not premium members, but we still saw the published details for a recent new cache in nearby Blandford about 7 hours before it had it's first finder .
  13. Does it now mean that uncompleted Alphabet series , similar to Curse of F.T.F. serries , can not have further caches/letters published to complete the alphabet ?
  14. Good on BT giving permission .but I am surprised . Since I retired things much have changed more than I thought . (that's Mr half posting )
  15. Has to be this one for us .GC1FMHC Swanage Station . 4 D.N.F. for us while other cachers were logging found easily easy and simliar. We haven't done a 5th attempt because since our 4th there has been a string of other cachers logging D.N.F.
  16. Quick google ,found this linky to D.N.P.A. info on arch's etc . Maybe helpful ...or not . http://www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk/au-arch.pdf
  17. quote from above posting "The landowner that I am dealing with knows that other caches have been set on his land with GAGB consent but without his approval." ???
  18. I would consider my picnic blanket to be litter if I forgot to take it with me when I leave . So lets say you left it or your mobile phone or whatever on a train...... would you go to the nearest rubbish dump to see if it were there .....or "lost property" ? Does this mean if I find a wallet with squillions of pounds in the countryside ...I don't need to hand it in to police ...because "Its Litter" ??? You are correct in picking me up on my words " forgot to take it with me " instead of "don't take it with me".

  20. I would consider my picnic blanket to be litter if I forgot to take it with me when I leave .
  21. quoting from Mootes posting "Section 87 Offence of leaving litter ( 1 )If any person throws down, drops or otherwise deposits" (bold added by me ) Wouldn't a cache come under the " or otherwise deposits "?
  22. We, and friend ,have always asked how much repairs will cost at initial phone inquiry. Have never expected free repair . Have then always hand delivered our G.P.S. ( have said we would/O.K.'d that at phone inquiry ) (data saved beforehand ) A replacement G.P.S. has always been sent to us by post within a few days There has never been an invoice in package asking for payment for postage or repairs . We've had 3 repairs done for free and a friend has had two . Two of ours were battery connnecters broken ,one was a split screen. Friends was one rubber surround come off and other was some of the characters worn off under the buttons of an old C60 .
  23. We would also say to go for something with the magic "H", if possible . We.ve now got G.P.S.'s with the "H" and haven't lost signal under trees since ( or when in our pockets) but no idea what "H" is ?
  24. 738:1 2 N.A.postings. Needed to read one of them to recall what it was about .What a sieve for a memory . Edited for addings error
  25. Mine is set to the default of 7M. Often turn off the go to before we get that close & watch the digits to get us to GZ.
