  1. Interesting debate. I connected my 65s to my Lenovo Laptop running Windows 11 and found the same issue. The xml file had the logs and the txt file did not. Using a text reader that could read UTF16 did not show any caches. As this was replicated on a Windows machine, I am not convinced it is a Mac issue, but something with the device. I cleared the files of the GPS, soft reset, downloaded a firmware update and loaded caches from my Windows machine. It is working now. I cleared the files again and loaded from my Mac and is working there to. It appears to be an issue with the GPS as everything is normal after the firmware update. GSAK, BaseCamp, Windows and Mac File Explorer and Finder are all showing normal behaviour now. Thank you everyone for the input.
  2. Hello I moved the geocache_visits.txt to trash I emptied the trash I ejected the GPS I reconnected the GPS and there is no geocache_visits.txt ejected the GPS again logged a few caches connected the GPS opened the _visits.txt file and the same, only the letter G but the _logs.xml file has the caches
  3. Hello I bought a Garmin 65s to replace my 64s. When I log a cache, the geocache_visits.txt file is empty. The only entry is "G" in row 1. The geocache_logs.xml file does have the caches visited, but not the _visits. I deleted the file and let it be recreated and logged a variety of caches with Found, DNF, Needs Maintenance. However none of these logs are in the file. This GPS is 6 days old and has never recorded a logged cache. I load my GPS with GGZ files from GSAK. I use a Mac. The same caches loaded onto the 64s with the same GSAK settings log normally. I am out of ideas and tried searching the forum and Google and am not making any progress. Ideas? Thank you
  4. Update: The last who people signed the logbook on this unlisted cache (t4e and dfx) found it on April 7th, 2013. Another person in the logs of big bang theory (F33APilot) said they found a letterbox not listed on the site. I don't think this is a letterbox because there was no stamp, or stamp prints in the logbook. Went on t4e's found caches and nothing found on that date seems to match this one. It must be archived because it is not far enough from the final of Big Bang Theory for both to be in publication at the same time. Very confused about this one. I remember the other caches that day, going by the logs. I DNFd Big Bang theory and can't remember where I found the letterbox. At the time I do think there was a stamp. I don't often look for letterboxes so the do stand out to me. Sorry I can't solve this for you. Should have asked me years ago closer to the date.
  5. I use my 60Csx all the time for caching in addition to GSAK. I only have the CN maps, no topo. Haven't needed them yet with my mainly urban caching. My habits are to keep an up to date database of unfound caches in a 40 km radius from home. From this list I will load about 500 waypoints into my GPS from GSAK for the areas that I might cache in that weekend. I also load as POI all the caches in my GSAK db. So I have all the caches in the GPS and the local ones readily available. I only load the smart name, terrain, difficulty, size and decoded hint to the waypoint. I also use an ipod touch app that has all the cache details and a static google map of the GZ in its image tab. I do all my logging via the field notes function in the iPod and then upload when I get home to either the site directly or GSAK. I also use a blackberry app for getting current logs for caches, logging trackables as I grab them and taking photos (it tags the photo with the GC Code). I am not fully using the blackberry app because the cache names are different then the GPS and I have not fully figured out how to tell how many caches I have found on a specific date which the ipod does really well. I do flip between devices for the features. The google map image is fanastic if I am out of the country and do not want to rack up roaming charges. I also noticed when caching in the Rockies that there is no cell service in the mountains. But the BB can load PQs and receive notifications if there are any close by when I am out. Hope this helps. I am dreading the day my trusty 60Csx no longer functions.
  6. That's embarassing. Thanks! I blame the time change.
  7. We have all seen a cache where someone has posted a photo of their experiece finding the cache. Some of us post photos ourselves. When you view a cache page you can view the gallery of all the images posted to that cache. What I want to know is if there is a way to see all the photos that I have uploaded in one place listing or linking to the related cache? I apolgise if there is an easy way already documented, but I could not find it. Any suggestions are appreciated.
  8. While we are on the topic. How can you log a DNF on the calendar? I am looking for an easy way to log finds and DNFs as well. I also have a 60CSx.
  9. "" only the first 2 Gb are used for storing the maps to, if you go larger than a 2 Gb card. "" Can I take this to mean that at 4GB card will work in my 60CSx, with upto 2GB for maps and the remainder for POI?
  10. I am new to the forums, and did not see this issue listed already. I have a Garmin 60CSx. I have loaded Red Light camera POIs with alerts turned on. I work within the proximity range of a POI. Twice now when I turned on my GPS and was in the Acquiring Satellites page, and was within range of the POI alert, the alarm started to ring constantly and I could not use "Page" or "Quit" to change the page. "Find" and "Menu" did not respond either. The buttons beeped, but the GPSr was locked up. Walking out of range did not resolve the issue. The unit did not power off and I had to pull the batteries. Once I was out of range, I turned off the proximity alert and all appears normal. This does not happen when I move into range. Only when I power on the GPSr when in range of the POI. The only workarounds I can see are to not power on the GPSr within a proximity circle, or to turn the alerts off until I want to be made aware of them when driving. One final note, this only started recently, I was able to power on the GPSr within range with alerts on without issue before this week. Any ideas are greatly appreciated Thanks
