  1. I've only ever had one where I was noticed at the cache site, the placement was right next to a busy trail, I had a small pack with me and a note book, I kept the cache concealed while I made my log entry and tried to look like I was doing research or something. Just act like you know what your doing and most times people will let you alone. If not try to have a good story ahead of time that you can use. "I'm doing a site survey or geographic study" anything that sounds boring to most people so that they wont be inclined to stick around.
  2. I too have had a difficult time in finding some caches that are obscured by the falling leaves, makes it more difficult to be sure but then if it were laying out in the open it wouldn't be much of a challange.
  3. I visit the forums infequently, and reply or post even more infrequently. I lurk sometimes and agree that many who post seem to hide behind the annominity of their persona's. Whats needed is for the moderators to blacklist the ones that get out of hand. If you flame to much or to harsh then you should be gone from the site, no just the forums. Make the penalty so sever that one will suffer the consequences if the policy is broken. The formus should be a place that all can enjoy without fear.
  4. I've got a fairly good eye for finding the cache, most of the time its easy to see the "something" in an area that doesn't look natural, most people don't know how or take the time to camoflage the site and make it look as if its always been there, and that's OK. Is not like you don't want people to find the cache if their looking for it.
  5. : NO NO NO you got it all wrong Geo HO, I read your profile closely too. He just needed a good PC tech. All you people need to get your ... uhm minds out of the gutter, and back in the woods where they belong.... ( by the way what type of vehicle is that your driving????)
  6. Ran into my worst nightmare??? no and it may change with circumstances. As to the firearm issue, as long as your in compliance with applicable laws feel free to do so, just remember the responsibility that comes with it. Me, I carry and it mekes me much more aware of my actions and the actions of others. I'd rather carry my firearm for 1000 years and never need it than need it once and not haave it.
  7. Has anyone else noticed the phenomina that you can't see a definate trail into a cache site but when your leaving and look back the way you came there is a clear path to follow? And I'm talking about a path that just one person (yourself) couldn't possible have made. Any theories out there?
  8. I think your opening words say it all, " I might be wrong"! Go with you first instinct. If you think you might be you probably are. " WRONG YOU ARE! I'm relatively new to this too. I've found ten caches in the past couple weeks, planted one of my own too. Getting out and WALKING, is good for you, so you might get a little dirty, take a towel and wipe your hands, get help for your arachnaphobia, wear gloves, or take up another pursuit. Leave Geocaching to us that enjoy it for what it is.
