  2. Any chance she would make some available for us to use as avatars?? She has done a great job with them.
  3. Well, If my vote counted, I would have to vote no. Just my 2 cents..... Baptist Deacon
  4. I like the little people graphics used in the overall theme of the website. Where did yall find them at. Just curious... Baptist Deacon P.S. Overall, the website does look really good.
  5. Ok, now I get it. After even more reading, I see where I was making my mistake. I was reading all this with my Geocaching mindset and was trying to apply the geocaching.com mentality to it. Once you figure out that Geocaching and Waymarking are as related as BaseBall and Sidewalk Chalk Drawing, then you can truly understand the uniqueness of Waymarking and you start understanding what it is all about. I am looking forward to seeing how this will progres. Baptist Deacon
  6. Might as well jump in with both feet and find out if I like this or not, and since we are going to pinpoint every McDonalds around, we might as well pinpoing the Gas Stations also as you will need them if you are going to visit all the mcDonalds. The sub catagories of this main catagory would be to list each station by it's brand name, for example, QuikTrip, Citgo, Chevron, BP, etc..... Just an Idea...
  7. I have been reading thru the posts and looking at the site and I am sorry, but I just don't get it. Places Restaurants (25), Bars (11), Internet (9), Buildings (8), Hunting/Gathering (4), Disaster Sites (3), Entertainment (2), Fishing (1), Strange/Weird (1), Camping/Hiking (0), Cultural Places (0), Educational (0) new, Historic Places (0), Lodging (0), Military (0), Natural Places (0), Pet-Friendly Places (0), Ruins (0), Stores/Retail (0) If you look in the restaurants catagory, you can find out where McDonalds restaurants are located. IF I wanted to know that, I can google that information. What exactly are we doing here?? Building a database so that mapquest or yahoo maps can benefit? Is Groundspeak going to sell rights to the database to mapquest so that they can better locate restaurants by lat/long's then street intersections?? Not trying to sound negative, but a database of this sort just does not make sense to me. Can someone explain what it is that I am missing, as I am having a hard time understanding this new concept. Thanks in advanced... Baptist Deacon
  8. Ok, here's a question? What are the qualification to be a mentor? Do we want someone like me who enjoys the sport but only has 1 hide and 75 finds to mentor or do we want some who has 200 finds and 10 hides.... or someone who has just purchased their GPSr and wants to jump in with both feet.?? Where to you draw the starting and finishing line for who can be a mentor and who can't? Just something to think about..... My vote would be someone who has atleast 100 finds. Not too sure that the hides would be all that important, but if it is, I would say 10 hides. But hey, that's just me... BD
  9. I must cast my vote for the way the cache page looks now. I like it better with less background. The backgrounds used to confuse the cache page, making it more difficult to focus in on what's important. Welcome to Firefox...Hope you like it as much as I do. It's GREAT...
  10. Wow, I never knew that part of the website existed. Go figure. IT's amazing what kind of stuff you learn hanging out in the forums. Some of it is actually good.
  11. You could create a new catagory of Cache, called Mentor, and then whoever wants to be a mentor would create a mentor Cache and then you could be searched, just like other cache's. Then when you did not want to volunteer, you could disable yourself and then re-enable yourself when you were ready to start again. Ok, It's just an idea....
  12. Great new look. Maybe it was just my setup, but I had GC.com as my start page and it was bookmarked to www.geocaching.com/default.aspx. That kept bringing up the old site. Then when I clicked on something it would bring up the new site. Had me going for a few minutes, so if you had the site bookmarked and get the old site while everyone is talking about the new site, make sure you go to www.geocaching.com and nothing else. Hope this helps someone.
  13. If you are going with a Palm os device, you can't get any better than using Cachemate. It is, in my opinion, the best available for the Palm. If you are going to go with a Pocket PC device, try using GPX Sonar. I have found it to be extremely easy to use. Combined with the GSAK software on your desktop and you can't go wrong. GPX Sonar and GSAK are free, Cachemate costs something like 10 dollars. I purchased the Cachemate software 2 years ago and used for a good year and a half until I got my Dell Axim X3i pocket pc.
  14. What is the difference between the 60c and the 60cs?? Just curious as I am thinking of upgrading when I get my tax return back...

  16. I was hoping to find what the html tags were and how to use them.. Like how to put a backgroung picture on the page. And how to place an image in the cache description. Is there a way to upload the picture to GC.com and have it show up on the cache page?? Again, thanks in advanced... Baptist Deacon
  17. Ok, I know in the past that I saw someone post a link to a page that showed how to use HTML in cache descriptions. I have tried to use the search feature and it keeps returning nothing when I search on "HTML". Also, someone mentioned a way to hide the cache from the approvers while you were working on the cache page, so that it didn't get approved or disapproved while you were creating the cache page. If anyone knows the answer to these two questions, I would greatly appreciate a nudge in the right direction. Thanks in advanced.... Baptist Deacon
  18. Where in the world do you buy 5 pounds of silly putty. Thats an awful lot of comics sections to play with....
  19. Ok, I know I am doing something wrong. Today I set my current position as my start and then I clicked on the pushpin I had placed at my destination and chose as my end point, clicked on the get directions button . AS I was driving along, it would not come up and tell me when to turn. IF I missed the turn, it would not update the route to show me another way. What am I doing wrong??
  20. See, this is the kind of useful information you get when you ask people that are smarter than yourself. Thanks for the tip. I am going to give it a try this weekend. Thanks..... Mark
  21. Greeting All, I currently have a Garmin Etrex Vista and Microsoft streets and trips 2004 software. I do a lot of traveling on weekends as I sing Bass in a Southern Gospel Quartet. I have been using the gps attached to my laptop, but streets and trips does not have an autoroute feature. What I mean is that as I am watching my track on my laptop. it won't follow any waypoints that I have set up. Is there any software out there that I might be able to use that would auto track/auto route in this application?? Hope I got my terms right... Thanks in advanced..... Mark
  22. Can someone please explain how this rss thingy works?? I searched the forums and could find nothing explaining this feature. Thanks in advanced..... Ok, I figured out the RSS feed Thingy. It's amazing what you learn thru searching google. Anyways, the only RSS link I can find in the forums is for the forums. While that is interesting, what I would really love to see is one for the logs, like whats on the front page of GC.com. Is there such a thing or link or whatever the rss feed link is called?????
  23. Can someone please explain how this rss thingy works?? I searched the forums and could find nothing explaining this feature. Thanks in advanced.....
  24. I recently purchased the Microsoft Streets & Trips 2004 for the directions that it gives. I recently started singing Bass for a Southern Gospel Quartet and needed good door to door directions for the many places we travel. Anyway, Streets & Trips has the location sensor that is supposed to give the Lat and Long of where the pointer is. My problem is that seems to differe greatly with what my GPS (Etrex Vista) says. For example, I can use my gps to get my home coords, but when I place the location sensor where my house is on Streets & Trips, the coords are way off. If I go the coords given by Streets & Trips in my GPS, it is almost 3 miles from my house. Is that Normal, or am I doing something really wrong....
  25. I know that Microsoft's Streets and Trips 2004 has that ability also. I have used it a couple of times since I purchased my copy a few months ago.
