  1. Well, sorry it's taken me so long to get around to updating all of your scores and adding those new players to the list that weren't in the game before. I can't believe how high those scores shot! Great job! I guess we're all going to have to get traveling if we ever want to see first place huh? The top chunk of the list has been updated, but I haven't updated everyone's scores. I'll have to try and get to the rest of the list soon. As for my score counting, I love the macro (thanks so much for making that, and everyone should use it), but I generally still count for myself. Call it OCD or old fashioned, but that's how I do it. If you have a screenshot of the macro, sometimes I do use that number, but most of the time I'll just do the counting. The main reason is because in the time it takes for me to go in and update your score (even if it's the next day) the favorite points could have changed, and it's generally in your favor. I count the points right before I record them, and count the highest possible "draft picks" for each list, even if you've sent me your list. If you would rather I count what you send me instead, please specify, but I make sure to count so your score is the highest possible that still meet the rules. You may be lowering your score if you get specific on your picks. You can go check out your new scores (the top fourth of the list, and some scattered others anyway). Let me know if you think your score is different and you want me to update it.
  2. I think that the rule about it being a physical cache should be revised. I've climbed Mt. Rainier twice (to Camp Muir) and there are no caches with log books, but it's quite a bit of elevation gain I could have for this challenge. The first year (last weekend of July 2010) I got one of the virtual caches at Camp Muir, and the second year (last weekend of July 2011) I got the other one ("Top o' the Field" and "Banana Slugs In High Places"). I did them seperately on purpose so I could count both hikes for the 100 miles challenge. I would like to do the same for this challenge. I have pictures posted on those cache pages showing me at the location, which in my mind, is more proof than claiming I signed a log book. Maybe that whole rule can be eliminated, because why would it matter if the cache were placed three months before I found it. That makes sure that I can't get an FTF on it if I want to count it for this challenge. I don't think there should be that kind of restriction. From past posts here, it seems you're just trying to make sure that a cache doesn't get archived soon after it's published, or that it's a bad cache just placed for this challenge. I think if you revised the rule enough that you couldn't log the find for the final until all found caches had existed for at least three months, or something like that, you might still accomplish your goal, while not punishing the FTF cacher from counting that hike. Anyway, just some thoughts. Thanks
  3. Thanks TheWinterTrio for your awesome macro!
  4. Remember, the only time it matters if you favorited a cache or not is if it is at 20 points. All points can be counted, even your own, unless your favorite point pushed it from 19 to 20 points. If a cache is at 20 points but you have not favorited it, it can count for the game.
  5. Actually he says he might go in from time to time and update the scores without being asked to... The scores will update to reflect the qualifying caches at the time I am counting, whether that be at the time someone posts their find, or when I randomly decide to count scores. I don't recount everyone's scores every time someone posts a find, but occationally I will recount people's scores. I do recount someone's score for example, if someone else posts a score that is just barely over theirs, then I'll recount that other person's to make sure I didn't push them down on the ranking when they might actually have a higher score. To be fair, and not to confuse myself or others, I don't keep track of anyone's "team", but count scores according to the qualifying caches at the time. One situation where I would go through and recount all the scores, is if I noticed that a more popular cache got archived, such as with the A.P.E. Cache. It's somewhat pitiful as the cache owner that I'm so low on the list, so I recount my score somewhat often. I will probably notice if one of my higher players gets archived, and will recount everyone in that case.
  6. Keystone, I would be happy to add your score to the list, but your profile only shows one find, so is there a different profile you would like me to use for your Fantasy Football list?
  7. I'm not sure if I understand since I don't require any kind of alternate logging requirement. I simply require finding 20 caches that meet certain specifications, just like any other challenge. The logs don't have to include anything to do with the score as I count them all up myself.
  8. If you do your search under "Hide/Seek a Cache", then order the results by favorite points by clicking the blue ribbon at the top of that column, then you'll have the highest point caches within your search range. Also, many are thinking I should include archived caches. I did think about that, but in actual fantasy football, when a player is out, they're out right? I believe I should stick to that with this challenge as well. How can you count a player in fantasy football if they're no longer a player? I may reconsider this rule someday, but for now, I don't really see that happening. It wouldn't really be fair for cachers who weren't able to get the A.P.E. cache for example, do be out 700+ points when they have no control over it. That's what's fun about a challenge though right? This way it will keep it a challenge for all, since some may have to find a higher point cache when another gets archived.
  9. I've updated the cache page to be more clear. I had specifically said events and archived caches don't count, but I guess since I used the wording, "active players" people thought that meant disabled caches don't count either, but in fact they do. If I were to keep track and recount everyone's scores every time someone disabled a cache, I'd go crazy. Just think of it as a player who got an injury. Maybe they're out for one game, but that doesn't mean their season or even their career is over. I personally count everyone's scores, so really, you don't have to post anything about your score in your logs, just that you found the cache, or want your score updated. Everyone's score is counted according to the rules and is the highest possible from their total finds. The only reason it would be different is if for some reason they request I only count certain players, even when that would make their score lower than their total possible. There's no way to cheat or even accidentally claim an incorrect score since I count it all myself. On a final note, the people who's names are lighter and don't have a ranking number in front of their score, are those who have not found the final yet. I have their names in the ranking list so you can see who's playing and how well they're doing, but nobody is actually "winning" unless they've found the final. You can feel pride in the placement you are in though if you're out of state and may never get the final. Currently grossi is in first place.
  10. Hello everyone! Here is a great place to post that you want your score updated, talk about high scoring caches, ask questions, etc. Have fun with the game, and check out the rest of my "Let the Games Begin!" series caches! GeoEskimo
  11. I will start with a description of the Wherigo so you can understand a few "behind the scenes" items. This should make the game easier for you to play, and help you capture Garmin Sandiego as well. Game Box Set Up Gameboard You will need at least 145ft to the north and to the east of you to set up the gameboard. This is always active so you can re-set up the gameboard at any time during the game without affecting your current mission. (i.e. If you misjudged your playing area and you can't get to a location zone.) Hide/Show Treasures If you want to see all of the items that can be stolen, you can toggle them on and they will show up in your inventory. Toggle them off again with this same button. I of course left them hidden so your inventory wasn't full of stuff. Hide/Show Files If you want to see all of the villain files to see what crooks are in this game, you can toggle them on and they will show up in your inventory. Toggle them off again with this same button. Instructions A short description of the game similar to what is described when first starting the game. After setting up the gameboard, you'll see two more things in your inventory along with the Game Box. Game Map This is just a simple layout of where each of the locations are in relation to each other Mission Folder Here is where you review you mission. You will see what has been stolen, told that a male or female suspect was seen at the scene of the crime, given a time limit (which really means how many actions you can do) to catch the crook before you're reassigned to a new mission, and then told where the villain was last seen. After viewing your Mission Folder, you will then see two more items in your inventory, and Groundspeak Headquarters in your locations. Mission Timer This will show you how many hours (actions) you have left in your mission. Your "time" will decrease by one hour every time you ask for a clue, check the HQ Database to try and obtain a warrant, or travel to a new location. Travel Station Here is where you will go whenever you are ready to go to a new location. When you first start a mission and it tells you where your villain was last seen, that location will be the only option for you to travel to. During your mission, the Travel Station will show a random few selections of where you can travel next. You may want to travel somewhere that is not shown, so you'll have to travel to a different location first and then come back to the travel station to see if your desired location is then available. Groundspeak Headquarters Going to Groundspeak Headquarters does not count against your time as traveling, and is always available so you can obtain a warrant when you feel you have enough clues (generally two are sufficient). HQ Database When you walk into the Groundspeak Headquarters zone, the HQ Database will show up in the "You See" section on the main screen. This is where you get your warrant. Tip: You do not have to actually walk to each location to be able to use the travel station again! You can travel to many different locations within the Travel Station without ever taking a step, but you will have to walk into a location to be able to ask for clues there. Tip: You will travel to two different locations looking for clues, and at the third location you travel to, you will find the villain. Remember, Groundspeak Headquarters doesn't count against your time as traveling, and it doesn't count as one of the three locations where your villain went. After you select a location to travel to, it will show up in your locations and on your map. (Make sure your zoom level is appropriate to see the 145ft gameboard.) You will now want to walk into the zone for that location so you can ask for clues. Four "helpers" will then show up in your "You See" area (on the main screen). Local Cacher The Local Cacher will either tell you the hobby your villain mentioned, or give you a hint for the next location your villain went. Local Muggle The Local Muggle will either tell you the hair color of your villain, or give you a hint for the next location your villain went. Local Webcams The webcams will either tell you about something your villain is wearing, or give you a hint for the next location your villain went. Cell Phone The PAF will either tell you the type of vehicle your villain is driving, or give you a hint for the next location your villain went. Tip: Was I repetitive enough? You need to pay attention to your clues because one or more of the helpers will give you a hint for the next location your villain went. The game will actually keep track of which attributes you have discovered, but you need to figure out and remember the next location so you can travel there. Tip: You may have noticed, there are four helpers you see, and four attributes about the villain that will help you get a warrant. In the programming, each helper is assigned a specific attribute (see the helpers above), and will never give you an attribute that is assigned to another helper. (i.e. The PAF will never give you hair color, only the vehicle your crook is driving.) Tip: These are helpful tips for those not from the Seattle area or who are new to geocaching. The Science Center is located at the Seattle Center. The actual name of the A.P.E. Cache is "Mission 9: Tunnel of Light", and is located just off I-90 in western Washington, close to the Snoqualmie Tunnel. The Fremont Troll is under the Aurora Bridge. GeoWoodstock is the only Mega Event in this game.
  12. I would really like feedback from everyone on this Wherigo, so I started this topic. Please feel free to comment, give suggestions, etc. This Wherigo is for the cache GC2WBZZ.
  13. What!? My Bingo Challenge is the only one of that rating in the state? Wow, that's pretty cool. I hope the change to the Fizzy is a date requirement change so it includes my cache for everyone then. I'll make sure that one is well maintained.
  14. Thanks Skip, I know I will seem like a cheap bastard but does anyone have any other suggestions? Being a debt ridden recent graduate I find myself counting every penny Just download from the website into multiple files as you already know how to do, then open one of them in notepad which will be the main larger file (it doesn't matter which one). Then open each of the others in notepad, copying the geocache data from them and pasting into the first file (each will have beginning and ending code to the file, but don't mess with that, just copy the geocache data). For example, in the .loc files you should see <WAYPOINT> and then some other tags and data, and then </WAYPOINT> which is one geocache. Copy from the first <WAYPOINT> of each file to the last </WAYPOINT> in the file and paste just after the last </WAYPOINT> of the main file so you have a much longer list of geocaches. I hope this is all making sense! I tried to describe it in detail, I just hope it's not so much detail that it's confusing. Anyway, the GPS will only let you have a file of 200 geocaches I believe, so you may have to make multiple files with around 200 each, but at least you'll have a ton more per file that can be on your screen at the same time.
  15. If someone has it, could you send it to me as well? For some reason I don't even get the 3D or topo buttons on my toolbar! It's MapSend TOPO 3D, and yet I can't get any topo anything right now because the buttons are missing!
  16. Has anyone had this problem? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling MapSend TOPO 3D on my laptop and for some reason I just can't ever get the 3D or topo buttons on my toolbar! Every search I've done, help files, etc. all direct me to the 3D menu, which is my problem, there is none! Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
  17. I don't even have the 3D or topo buttons on my toolbar! Not to mention having the same problem you are. If anyone knows why the toolbar buttons wouldn't show up, or why the TOPO software isn't showing up any actual TOPO stuff, please let us know. Thanks!
