  1. Photos are great to see! I'm sure everyone loves seeing places where their trackables have been.
  2. Maybe you could focus more on finding caches & think of trackables only as a bonus when you come across one. Don't let them ruin the fun you've been having. Put them on the back burner.
  3. You could check out this site which is for Wisconsin geocachers. There are planned events you can attend to meet fellow cachers in your area. Wisconsin Geocaching Association As for info about pocket queries you could post in the 'Getting Started' forum here on GS for some help.
  4. There was a 'hotel' cache GC1649F near here that was definitely a black hole for trackables. It's as if the container had a hole in it that went to no where. I would occasionally log a note on the listing as a sort of warning for cachers. Just this week the CO finally decided to archive the cache as they did not want to see this happening any more. It's a shame to see this happen, but I think in this situation archiving it was the best thing to do. There's nothing you can really do... it's a game of chance. It's not always negative though, there are also lots of bugs who travel far and visit many places.
  5. I would just make sure not to fill it too full, so that people don't have a hard time sifting through to find the log & then getting all the swag back in so it shuts properly. Also, it would be good to leave some room for any trackables cachers may drop off. IMO... not too full & not too empty. There's no exact number of items required.
  6. Your card looks very nice. The photo adds a nice personal touch to it. It seems like double duty with writing all the info on your card ("on, took, left, our find") and also in the logbook. That is what the logbook is for. Plus, if you laminate (as highly suggested)... you won't be able to write that stuff in. Maybe a little redesign to your card leaving out all that info?
  7. Looks like the cacher who has yours has a total of 7 TBs & 1 GC in his inventory all picked up in July. That's not a good sign. -make that 2 GCs
  8. It's great to see you are doing the right thing by trying to find the owner. You will definitely be making someone very happy! Hope the GPSr and the owner are reunited soon.
  9. I think this calls for free geocache stickers to help prevent instances such as this.
  10. Started out with a eTrex Venture HC using it for over a year & now we use it as our back-up. I agree it would be a very good model for a beginner.
  11. We keep a little step-ladder in the back of our SUV... unfortunately it won't fit in our geo-bag.
  12. Sounds like a nice idea & mission to me. I think you should go for it. Would it last? That's probably an impossible question to answer. I will go ask my magic 8 ball for you.
  13. Me too! Can't wait to see what opalsns has planned for us this time.
  14. Hmm, since there are no trackables showing in their account... I'm going to guess it's because they are new to caching & are not yet informed of what to do with bugs. If they picked up a bug without logging it out & then dropped it another (at their listed coords)... someone will just have to do a grab if/when its retrieved. Or we could put BlueDeuce on the case to follow the trail.
  15. Ditto. Send the CO a quick message. More than likely they will appreciate you helping them out with maintenance. Plus, no need for the NM note then.
  16. Received today! Thanks a bunch!
  17. This is great news! It's nice to know it was never thrown out. I bet you were thrilled to find this out! Another good example why to never give up hope on your trackables.
  18. Ha! I knew I was hearing Michael Jackson in this thread.
  19. No time limit... we stop we feel we are about to go kwazy.
  20. Woot Woot! Definitely a milestone to celebrate! Congrats!
  21. Yes, not making the find is definitely a bummer, but don't give up. When we can't find a cache, we log our DNF & when we are back in the area again... we give it another try. There are times when we still can't find it on our 2nd visit & people before us have found it easily. We just keep on going.
