  1. If we lived in the area... we'd definitely search for it with our jr. explorer. We're not scared of a micro in the woods. <---- You could guess forever though as to why nobody has found it yet. I wouldn't waste any time trying to guess... don't worry about it. When you least expect it - it will be found.
  2. Did you find the cache, and sign the log? If not, then technically the CO was correct. Generally, adding a pice of paper as a new log works. But, the CO was within his rights. You did not sign the log. I give the cacher props for at least asking the CO first before going ahead & logging a find as many would do.
  3. All these duckies are sooo cute! We haven't come across any yet in a cache. I wonder if anyone has taken a bath with one them.
  4. Where you posted the pic is fine (on the cache page or the trackable page)... but next time you should not show the tracking# in your pic. You could turn over the tag so the # is not showing. The reason is because some people may see your photo & post they discovered this travel bug when in fact they did not physically see it in person. This is against the guidelines. You can go back & delete your photo while keeping your log intact. Just go to your post and click on 'view/edit logs/images' & then click on 'edit image' & then click on the little image of a garbage can.
  5. The largest cache we have found was a 30 gallon rubbermaid container.
  6. Oops... I totally missed the end of this cointest. Just noticed it now. lol Congrats to the winner & thank you opalsns for the all fun with the avatars.
  7. If it's the Lizardtoadz GC it shows the goal is to 'travel the world.' Since it hasn't been over to Asia yet, I would think the owner would enjoy seeing it go that far. The owner will see the note you left in the log. Sending a message is up to you. Three weeks isn't all that long in the world of trackables. (IMO) Have fun on your trip!
  8. Cache or no cache... that was a very interesting read.
  9. That's why we have an alarm system on ours.
  10. Oh no! That's too bad, but yes... I bet you made someone very happy. I know it's been a long time now, but did you keep note of the tracking number? You would be able to look it up, see if it was activated, and look at its travels.
  11. Question - Are travel bugs adoptable, or only geocoins? Bugs too! Thanks for the answer. After I re-read my reply & then read yours... I became confused. I wouldn't want to give out the wrong advice.
  12. Question - Are travel bugs adoptable, or only geocoins?
  13. The only way to adopt an activated trackable is if the owner sends you an adoption request. You should release it & let it keep traveling.
  14. Sounds great... thanks for the offer! Will definitely be sending a message your way. We just received a couple new tags last week, but now the hard part is deciding what to attach & a mission.
  15. Thanks for follow up. Sounds like regular swag, or possibly a sig item. Hopefully you'll come across your 1st geocoin soon.
  16. Be prepared for cachers who may complain about the trashy area you choose to place your cache in. I bet there are many who will not to want wade through garbage to find it. I do applaud your good intentions and hope many will help CITO the area.
  17. Yes, I agree. There needs to be more information on trackables (in general) easily accessible rather than have it hiding in the forums. I bet there is a very high number of cachers who do not even enter the forum to read or even ask questions. There is a similar topic already started in the geocaching web site forum regarding bringing more information to the front page for trackables & swag. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=233268
  18. Yep, just bundle them up nice & tight. You won't have to worry about them wandering away.
  19. Yep, it's a classic... go to Wikipedia or your nearest library.
  20. I also think this is greatly needed in an effort to help inform all cachers. Not just new cachers, but all of us. I believe there are lots of 'seasoned' cachers who have never logged into these forums before which is where the most useful information concerning trackables & swag is hiding.
  21. I'm curious what it was... since it was a 'fake'. Please do tell!
  22. Neat... but what if someone assumes its trash & tosses it into their CITO bag?
  23. Since you added a new dry log... there would be no need for a NM log. You already did the maintenance which was a very kind gesture.
  24. Yep... shhh, don't tell anyone. Happy you discovered this great hobby. Now it's time to discover caches! Hope you have lots of fun!
