    PQ Download

Thanks that was the problem. I just ran another pq and it worked. I don't know any way to add the extension to those old pqs but I'll re-run them tomorrow and then , hopefully; they will work. I have a series of pqs that allow me to get all the active caches within 50 miles of home. It did require 8 pqs and now its back to just 4. This allows me to eliminate any disabled caches before I head out.

    PQ Download

I have been running the pqs and downloading them to a pocket query folder. Then transferring them to a GSAK database. This allows me to screen the caches before loading them in the NUVI and GPS. Today I changed from the 500 to 1000 and see that they are completed and sitting above the pq page. When I try to load them to the pocket query folder nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas? Thanks
  4. I really liked a lot of the caches and many marked the little blue signs for beach access that helped a lot in the sightseeing. here are 3 that I found memorable, GCTKA3, GCT4WA, AND GC16T3W (bring fins and snorkle for the last one you will be 100' from where the dive boats bring folks and there is a good chance of swimming with turtles. Enjoy and happy cachin
  5. You know I've been thinking I seem to have the avoidance down alright; however; the landings do need improvement.
  6. Yes, he almost stepped on a rattlesnake out in Horsethief area and fell down avoiding it!! But he got FTF!!! I'll let him elaborate... I just talked to him. He is ok..has a cast. He said he can't vacuum but he'll be able to ride a bike...Yeah Right! That guy is amazing! He kept on caching...got half a dozen or so before heading to the hospital. That is the 2nd close rattlesnake encounter for Jack this year. The other one was a 6 foot one that he fell onto. Jodi, Thanks for the update on fisnjack! I'll also give him a call. Does he need rattlesnake avoidance training? Stay safe Jack Safe is just a four letter word. Jody forgot to mention that I get out of washing the dishes as well. GFETE

  8. CONGRATULATIONS TO DILLWEED. SHE MADE HER 4000 AT GECKO ROCK THIS AFTERNOON ON AN 8 MILE BIKE RIDE http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/displa...cea44d28145.jpg
  9. I really enjoyed Viking Rock and Turtle Bay. There are aeveral virtual caches that were also very interesting. Its not too hard to load all of perhaps 100 caches on the island. Then while your driving around it will be easy to find those little blue beach access signs since there is a cache at nearly every one. Many of those are in very private areas and would be hard to find. Aloha
  10. Scary time in the South Bay!!!!!!!!! Jack, Thanks for asking. آ I am doing fine now but very nearly died on the trail. When I collapsed, I stopped breathing. آ Minnie got things started again by slamming me into the ground repeatedly, and I was only without oxygen for a couple of minutes. آ Not long enough for brain damage. آ She very literally saved my life. آ Doctors said the pulmonary artery was completely blocked preventing the heart from pumping blood to the lungs to become oxygenated. The major pulmonary event also triggered a minor cardiac event, but it seems that there isn't permanent damage to the heart. آ It was pure luck that Minnie was able to dislodge enough of the clot to get some blood flow past the clot and into the lungs. آ I'll be on anticoagulants for six months to a year. آ After that, I should be as good as new but as long as I'm on the drugs, I have to be very careful not to bleed and not to get bumped in the head. آ I also cannot eat some kinds of foods. We were on mountain bikes in the Tijuana River Preserve near Border Fields State Park. آ Minnie read GPS coords to the 911 operator, who summoned helicopters to search the trails. آ The helicopters began searching more than a mile away so I had to use my bike to hold me up and walked out to an open area about a third of a mile. آ Minnie talked the fire dept helicopter to our location, where it landed. آ A ranger saw the helicopter land and came over in a van. آ He loaded all of us into the van and took us to the road where an ambulance was waiting. آ The helicopter EMT told me that they are always off the mark when given coords from hand-held GPS units. آ He thinks they use a different GPS protocol than we do. We're planning on being at WWFM VI on the 14th and will probably see you there. آ Minnie is better at telling the story than I am anyway. Mike
  11. Thanks Guys; Sure was a nice hike with great friends.
  12. I'm afraid I don't understand how you can find a cache before it's published? Flutterwheelers When I am hiking on a fresh trail for a new geocache I always keep my eyes open for likely locations. In this area especially, other cachers tend to drop new ones along the way. I won't mention any names as you know who you are. GFETE I even remember one time finding an un activated cache during the cache war that we took prisoner and activated it on the spot.
  13. There is also the possibility of finding the cache between the time its placed and published, there by finding and signing the nice clean log. There have been a couple of times where I have done exactly that and don't feel a bit guilty. GFETE
  14. Congrats to Flagman, Chuck B and all the stoners out there
  15. Yes, I am talking about the Geocaching application for the iPhone/iPod Touch. "Offline GPX" access means that you can load a PQ while you have internet access (via wi-fi on the iPod Touch), but can then access that GPX data when you don't have internet access since it has been saved locally to your device. -Tony Well I just bought a new Oregon and with a little work have all the maps installed. I got to try it out yesterday and it worked very well. And as long as I have Dillweed along there was no need for a lifeline call to Chuy. Hardly needed to look up the hints. GFETE
  16. I don't think this is the right spot for this question but I couldn't find out anything on the tech site. I plan on buying a new gps to replace the ones that were stolen. I loved my 60CSX with a Palm when the Palms crashed again and again (4) I bought the Oregon. The Oregons accuracy left much to be desired so all I was using it for was a PDA. Now I'm thinking of coupling a 60 CSX with an Itouch with the geoc app. The Itouch is MAC instead of Widows based. Anyone out there using this combo and if so how is it working?
  17. Mine were well hidden, however; when they broke in I guess they found then when the riffled the interior of the car. My windows were cracked open do to the heat and I guess they managed to hit the electric lock.
  18. I went geocaching before I stopped off at the zoo parking lot to dance. While I was inside dancing someone popped the door of the car and stole both my 60 CSX and my new Oregon.
  19. Thank you. I told GRNZOOM that they would hit their number before July fourth and by golly they did CongratulationS and to all the other stoners. I didn't break or lose any of my hardware on the 5500, sure did get wet and muddy though. I sprung a flat on Sundays hike with severe blisters and poor Teddie is still not walking on the way up Clevenger Canyon North trail.
  20. I'm not sure this is the right place for this, however; I thought folks might be wondering about Lostguy. I talked to him this afternoon. He is still in rehab til next Wed. He is begining to move his right arm, walk without the stick in his left hand. They were not able to repair his heart at this time but will do it at Sharp sometime after his discharge from Grosmont. Keep him in your prayers for a full recovery.
  21. Today Dillweed hit her 2500th cache on Indiana Jones: Quest for the Sankara Stones. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!
