  1. Around here the trails aren't very drastic so I suffice by just marking my truck at the parking spot and selecting it as a goto when I'm done. I do it more for a how dadgum far is it when I'm tired though.
  2. I'd do it in a heartbeat. There was a cache around here that catered to books at one time. Not sure if it's still here or not. Lived in a RV and travelled for year and half. Almost everyplace we stayed had a book trade area. Would have been more fun as TB's.
  3. Mike here too. Named my son Michael. My number 1 grandson is also a Michael, and my brand spanking new number 2 grandson is also a Michael. Mike's rule!
  4. I just ordered a sling bag off the net. It's an Urban Sport. I can't recommend the bag that I bought as it's already starting to come unglued, but I love the sling bag vs. a two armed bag. There are times when I'd prefer to have a camelback style rather than carrying bottles of water though.
  5. It's weired how some disappear almost immediately and some never do. I have one in my inventory now that I just picked last thursday that's travelled over 40,000 miles since 2004. It's basically a piece of cardboard too.
  6. I have the CCW. I rarely carry on me while out caching, although I always have one in the truck or car.
  7. My condolences. I have not found a memorial cache yet, but I would definitely do them if they were available in my neck of the woods.
  8. Good rant. Hammer meet nail...
  9. Read your profile page. Pretty much how I feel about things as well.
  10. I'm using the beta map in may area to look at caches in wooded areas. I then pick a cache number from an area I want to do and run a PQ based on that cache number.
  11. Are you advocating the ban of all roadside caches as they are "unsafe"? When placed .1 miles apart in a row without pullouts or permission?? --- yes. +1
  12. He might not be responsible but for general good will, it wouldn't kill him to go check his cache and free this jailed bug in the process. Kinda like the right thing to do. YMMV though.
  13. Post needs maintenance logs until the CO responds. Find out who the reviewer is for that area and ask them to shoot the owner an email as well.
  14. We have a couple tools to use to report issues with caches. We just need to use them. If it needs maintenance, log a NM note. If the cache area really interests us, the click the watch button on the cache and see if anything gets done about the maintenance. If not, after a reasonable time, log a NA note. I hit one today that has had a couple NM notes about the container. If it doesn't get action soon, I'm issuing a NA note. Not that that that will require the CO to do anything, it does alert our reviewer.
  15. Why don't you delete it now? Well I could, but I was hoping he would see the error of his ways and change it himself. Every single other log says that they loved it. I guess I always like to think the best of people. It is rated as a 4 difficulty and the description warns people to give themselves time to sign the log unless they are smarter than the average bear. It is an ammo can under a POS in a park and ride, about 15 steps from a parking space. Very easy to find the box, but the 4 is for the puzzle box that holds the log book. One of the previous finders that bookmarked it emailed right away that I should delete it. Maybe I should and just be done with it. Sigh, I hate to be mean back, but it does bother me to have that log on my cache. I read it. He, both of them actually, did not sign the log. I'd delete them both. But not because he said he didn't like the cache.
  16. Certainly not a scientific sample, but I looked at a few of your recent hides logs. Didn't see any of the "Sent from a Mobile Device" logs. While I'm not a verbose logger myself, I wish we had the gumption to post what we REALLY feel on our logs. I can't be the only one that thinks some hides just plain suck but don't write that in a log...
  17. I'd love an invite as well. :-)
  18. Pretty cool. Don't know that I'd go with coolest ever though.....
  19. Travel bugs were designed and meant to be moved. Move them. No matter which way they go, they are heading to their destination. This orb we travel on is round. No matter which way you go, you'll eventually get there... :-)
  20. Lame. I avoid them and have even twit filtered some cache placers because that's all they seem to place. But's that's just me, I could be wrong...
  21. Ditto on the how much it can hold crowd...
  22. I trade signature items only these days and I keep them just cuz....... I have some other swag of various types that I collected while on a 1.5 year long road trip. Those items have specific memories for me that I want to hang onto...
  23. Why did you give them up in the first place?
