  1. We logged a find on an archived cache last week and the CO deleted the log.
  2. I don't know if this is the largest cache, but certainly the largest we've seen (look at the pics): http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...ea-590c60edbb1b
  3. I bet this is the thread you're talking about. Scroll down to post #3. These caches are still allowed. It's not a moving cache, just an ALR cache. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=200758
  4. I would log it. Just say on the log that you found the cache with XXX, who's sig is in the log book. Most CO's won't have a problem with that, I know I wouldn't. We set up an account for my son and went back and logged all the finds he found with us before he had and account. His sig wasn't in the log book, but we simply stated he found the cache with us.
  5. Well, since we are NOT in a cache dense area (only about 200 w/in a 50 mile radius, most of which we've found) we have to drive further each time to find new caches. Gas just reaches $5.49 a gallon here in south GA today, so yeah I think that will put a big dent in our caching, I'm sorry to say.
  6. Or they might start driving nails into the trees so they will surly die...
  7. Seacarrot, all you gotta say is "my kid lost his toy/ball/video game/whatever and I'm looking for it. Works whether or not you have kids, since they don't know if you do or not. I've never been questioned, but if I ever am that's gonna be my response.
  8. I was thinking the same thing. Actually, thus just happened to our neighbors a couple weeks ago! I say you better cut it or your wife will get all mad and say <insert nagging wife voice> "you spend all your time caching, not taking care of things around the house!" and then she'll not want you to go caching anymore.
  9. The window decal we got was pretty small, about the size of your hand. Where is everyone getting the large decals? (We don't want magnets - they'll ruin your paint.)
  10. Hey thanks for that tip, I just happen to already own one that I never use. It's going in my caching bag now!
  11. LOL, nevermind, I was confused about the process but I think I have it straight now.
  12. Sorry if this is a silly/dumb question, but are you allowed to 'discover' your own TB's and/or coins? Or is that a no-no like logging your own cache? I didn't see anything about that in the FAQ.
  13. My car TB will be here today! Can't wait to put in on the car for discovery.
  14. I can understand wanting to move it away from an area frequented by hunters, especially if it's an ammo can! One of those would last about 2 seconds around here if found by some weekend warriors.
  15. I agree with the alcohol. We carry a bottle in the trunk and wash off with it after going in the woods. I stock up when it's on sale because we practically bathe in it every time! It really works to wash off the urushiol. I read on here a while back someone said to soak in a bleach bath. Not sure I'd want to try that, but maybe applying a little diluted bleach on the area with a cotton ball might not be a bad idea.
  16. Same policy applies in my county as well. A couple years ago a senior was expelled 2 weeks before graduation because someone saw a hunting knife in the back of his truck. He'd gone hunting with his dad over the weekend and forgot the knife was back there. Caused a huge uproar with parents and kids alike, by them not allowing him to graduate. Personally I think it was huge deal over nothing, but I do understand the zero tolerance angle. What was so ironic was, a few months later there was a fund raising raffle at the same school, and one of the raffle prizes was a set of steak knives... As far as leaving knives in caches, personally I have no problem with pocket knives, multi-tools, etc. An open knife maybe, but I see no harm in a pocket knife. I have two sons who each have a pocket knife. As a parent it is our job to educate our children about such things and more importantly, not let them rifle through a cache without our supervision.
  17. Oh, it's gooooood.... especially the story about the Serial Finder... AR, will there be more chapters to that story? I didn't like the way it ended.
  18. Friend - sure Casual Aquaintence - would give hints if they asked Online Corresponder - probably not Now, as to the queston of only one person in a group solving the puzzle - if I were part of a group and only one had solved puzzle, of course I'd log the find if I was present when the cache was actually found. If I was the one that solved it I wouldn't care if the rest of my party claimed the find, as long as we all did the actual 'finding' together. Same as the tree climbing scenario. I'm not climbing a tree, but if someone else in the group does and I'm standing at the base of the tree, my name better go on that log.

  20. I would love to hide a cache outside of our office, but hubby doesn't want folks snooping around there at all hours...
  21. Ok thanks... I thought that was the case, and now I know for sure.
  22. Since we're still fairly new to caching, there are a few things about TB's that I am still alittle fuzzy about. I've read all the how-to's but still don't see answers to these questions, so I'm hoping someone can clear things up for me! 1. What exactly does it mean when someone 'dips' a TB? Is that the same as logging mileage? So, if I have a TB, I can log it in a cache and then retrieve it right back out? And what is the purpose really? Is it so it shows some sort of activity, like if I can't move it along right away but want to show it doing something, not just sitting in my posession for a while? 2. What does it mean when there are many TB's listed on an event cache page over on the right side (where the trackables inventory is shown)? Does that mean people attending the event have "placed" their TB's in the event cache with the intent to bring the TB to the event to swap or let someone else take? So if I have a TB and am planning to attend an event, I can log my TB on the event cache page, then bring it with me in hopes someone else will move it? Or do you bring them to the event for everyone else to "discover"?? 3. Is it proper for me to retrieve a TB from one of my own caches to move along, or is that frowned upon? Sorry for the (probably) dumb questions, but I'm still learning. Thanks!!!
  23. Here ya go Vinny... http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=202627
  24. Instead of trying to debate my comment so seriously, just look up. You see that thing waaaay up there sailing above your head? That was my joke. Since I didn't see a smiley on this post, I wasn't sure if you were serious or not. If I had taken the time to look back at your previous posts on this thread, I would have known better. - My Bad However, I've seen similar comments on other threads, so my analysis still stands. Just imagine how long it would be if we enlisted dogs!!! - Elle Dogs would do it more quickly. Elle, I got your joke. The first time. Just think how quickly we could get it done in woman-years!
