  1. And what's good about our hobby is,,, wait for it,,, No one is forcing you to! This brings up my biggest peeve of all. That many people complain about, and usually want abolished, caches they don't like. There are so many different types and difficulty levels out there. Something for everyone, from easy park and grab caches to caches on top of mountains or under the sea. It's understandable that most of us have certain kinds of caches that we dislike but the thing to realize is that it's really very easy to just ignore them. Oh I wasn't complaining. Creative caches like that are fun and I really enjoy the challenge, I was just stating an obvious fact, I know my own limitations, not gonna catch this fat man in a tree! I have children to fetch caches like that!
  2. I think putting flyers in general public will also invite and encourage the muggles and those with ill intent to find the caches and loot and pilage. That is why we use stealthy procedures to find caches in public. I think word of mouth and invites have a better vetting process.
  3. I'm too old and too fat to be climbing trees. Not gonna do it!
  4. Today actually, was looking for a simple PNG. Was only supposed to take 5 minutes tops. Was on the edge of a parking lot. Looked at all the usual places, light skirts, tree bases, birdhouses, (yes was one there but was not the cache. 15 minute in I was standing next to a no trespass sign looking back at all the possible places and just looked beside my hand there it was a magnetic tin at the top of the no trespass sign. Duh!
  5. Best one yet! Yes I know it's an old thread and I'm late for the party...
  6. Hi. I'm Chris, married to a wonderful woman and have 2 boys (5 & 7 ). The family and I just got into geocaching. The DW read about it one Saturday morning and thought it would be a fun way for the family to spend time together odors and of the couch! Went out our first day and spent the day learning about this addicting little scavenger hunt! The boys had a ball! We found about 8 our first day and I think 4 DNF's, we didn't know what we were looking for at first and was not familiar with the skirt lifters at that time. But we have since learned that there are some creative or demented cachers out there. The boys are wanting to place our own cache, so the DW and I are trying to come up with a pretty clever one ourselves. Getting a few good ideas of you tube. This is going to be fun! Happy caching!
