  4. ok I ran a PQ for all the caches within 20 miles of my home is there a way to put them into my PN40 with one click of the button or do I nedd to load each one separately?
  5. Add me to the list have not gotten a notification in a week.
  6. As I have every year since my mother passed on I will plant a new tree, with my son and wife. Then just spend the rest of the day enjoying what this earth has to offer.
  7. I have had my PN40 for little better than a month and I love it, had some growing pains with it but nothing major. as for geocaching with it you can't beat it. just my two cents.
  8. I'm in the same row. I think I will join you all, I'll bring the popcorn. This could get real interesting.
  9. As many here know I wrestled with which Gps to buy for a long time and finally decided to buy the PN-40. So far tthe unit has been great, the learning curve was fairly easy (and I am an outdoorsman not a techie) the only problem so far is I have to restart my computer every time I hook up the delorme as it says the driver is not recognized but I think this is a computer problem and not the GPS unt, we have only cached with this unit twice(busy woking 7days a week for now) but it has performed spectacular. Maps were easy to load loaded Pa in about 5 minutes. To everyone who offered advice Thank You. Rockin Roody was very helpful. Thanks Thanks and Keep on Caching Tom
  10. Where can I buy wooden nickels custom made as a signature item with my caching handle and my avatar on them, or do you guys have a better idea than wooden nickels, I am open for suggestions? Thanks Tom
  11. just bought my pn 40. I have found 6 caches with it and it has worked flawlessly. I would definately recommend this unit.
  12. Thanks Roody that I did not realize that is what taht was, no if I could just get the connection problem fixed. Do you accept PMs I ahave a question about your profile page.
  13. well I have found 4 caches with the new Gps PN 40 it works great. been with in 5 ft of 3 of them.I like using the compass but also keep checking the maps for terrain cahnges. Now i have found the caches wrote my field notes now is there a way to upload my field notes and foundit icon right to the cache listing found it page.
  14. How did everyone here become involved in caching. My family and I learned of caching while I was looking for a new GPS last summer. Thena friend of my ife told her about it a week or so later. We went looking for our first one a day or so later but did not find, well not taking the DNF well my son and I set out again the next day and looked until we found it. Now we are hooked although his baseball ambitions keep us from caching as much as we would like. If this post or topic is out of line sorry Jjust curious how everyone got involved.
  15. how do I get google earth from my profile to downlaod to my computer it says windows cannot open the file.
  16. Hey Roddy, No I loaded them all the same way I went to the list of caches in my area picked out the ones I wanted and downloaded them off the geocaching website one at a time same way I did the ones the other night. seems I have all the field note capabilities on the new caches. Just curious as tho why the tupperware icon instead of the chest.
  17. One more question, I loaded some caches on my 40 and they showed up as a treasure chest, loaded some more this morning and they came up looking like a tupperware container. Why is this?
  18. What is the best way to navigate with the 40 when approaching a cache do you use the compass or the map screen with the screen zommed in?
  19. I am running to 2.5 firmare from the delorme forum and I am plugging the unit in while it is off., but have tried it while the wunit is on also.
  20. well where too start, the first problem is when I connect my unit to the computer it just jumps back and forth betwwen the sat.screen and the connect to computer screen then it freezes up. Have to pull batts to get it to shut down. then we try again and go thru the same thing. then eventually it will work. Accuracy issue used it tonight to go after our first cache with this unit the accuracy said 10 feet but when we were standing at the cache it showed us being 100' feet away chack the fix and it was 3D. one question what is the best way to navigate to a cache with this unit what screen do you use and what is the detail set at? do yo use the compasss or map page?
  21. My sin, who is 13 woulf like to send a travel bug on a mission to get to Alaska and then come all the way back to him here in Pa> is this practicle mission or not? This will be the first bug we have sent out.
  22. My buddy ask me to take a cub scout pack out geo caching as one of there adventures for his scout pack. Would this be a good idea or a nightmare waiting to happen. If I do it I will take them to a cache I have already found so I know it will be interesting for them,as it is a nice walk to a neatly located cache.
  23. well downloaded Pa from the east region cd and it took less than 10 minutes. Also downloaded the 2.5 beta update now I am not sure what I have, midnight screen other than that everything seems the same.
