  1. Websites would be good. I am just curious about the many different regulations placed on caching. Thanks.
  2. Yes! Yes! Yes! I love it! The ezine is wonderful. I thoroughly enjoy it. Very professional, informative, and entertaining. It takes a unique team of individuals to make those three elements work together in one magazine! Way To Go!
  3. If the Secret Service had found it, President Bush would have announced that he finally found some "Weapons of Mass Destruction." Just think....the Secret Service would have had to do the CIA's work.
  4. Being an English Major, freelance editor, and writer, I would hate to bring "official editing" into the forums. I see enough of it; however, if you want to get technical about online forum literacy, it revolves around the time factor: If you have just posted the topic or reply, and realize you made a mistake, you do not have to tell your audience about your need to edit (because many have not had the chance to read it yet). If the topic or reply has been in the forum for more than four hours, you will include the "EDIT:" symbol at the bottom of your original text. I wouldn't worry about this too much. Most people will understand what you are saying, and they don't have their red pens waiting to catch you (I hope there aren't any).
  5. I was wondering just how many states had some official geocaching regulations. If your state does not have any, do you think it should? Is it considering any? What about local cities? Any weird rules that you know of? Feel free to post some of the regulations from your state. It would be very educational for me as well as others.
  6. I recently placed a level four cache in a park. A friend and I have had very much fun going by on our lunch breaks and enjoying the show. We have seen just about everything. People digging, scratching, crawling on all fours. Coming individually, coming in groups and collaborating. I can imagine some of the creative names this cache has generated. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the opportunity to do this? It is a very interesting sociology lesson.
  7. Just wanted to tell EraSeek and all the rest of you that I appreciate the technical information. I have learned much!
  8. If you found a cache that had something wild in it, and you could hear it scratching, growling, and making blood-curling noises, what would you do?
  9. I have heard from some people that sun spots affect GPS reception. Some people have said that if you use your GPS aroun 12:00 in the day, it will actually get bad reception in some areas. Is this true? If so, how does it work?
  10. I was actually doing a cache that had some bushes around it. I was getting involved in my search, crawling around on all fours, digging through weeds, bushes, and dirt. A nice, dignified man came along and sat close to me on a park bench. He asked me what I was doing? I chose to be rather inventive with my reply and said, "I am with the local county extension agency. I am conducting some tests on the city's quality of fertilizers they are using in this flowerbed." The man smiled and got up and left.
  11. Here are two important East Texas Rules: 1. Always look on the other side of the log before you step over it. It is a great place for snakes to stretch out. 2. If it has eyes, and looks back at you from a dark hole, it is not a living cache. Leave it alone.
  12. Think NATURAL. The best camo is natural. Think about the cache's environment, then match the camo to the environment. Of course, this all depends on how difficult you are planning to make the cache. I generally find that "the simple things confound the wise."
  13. I enjoy this sport because it gives me a chance to get outdoors and learn about new places I would otherwise never go. Regarding the poor quality of things left in a cache, there is a simple explanation and solution to it: Explanation: GIGO=Garbage In, Garbage Out Solution: Don't contribute to the garbage piles already in existance. You have the power to place something better in the cache. This will make you part of the solution rather than the problem.
  14. Due to the treatment of these poor reviewers, I think they should have an office beside an IRS auditor. They could keep each other company.
  15. hide the cache from view... I'm not lost, I just don't know where I'm at.
  16. I am new to geocaching and enjoy it. However, I have a question regarding getting a new cache approved. I am aware that it needs to be approved by the admin of gc.com. Does an actual person go and check the cache before it is logged on the website? If so, does this person have the right to take anything from the cache before everyone else has a fair chance at finding it? Your input is helpful hear. I'm not lost, I just don't know where I'm at.
