  1. I have one of these units that I won as a door prize. I have no use for it, as I already have a good auto gps system. Never even opened the box. Anyone interested in buying it and saving me the ebay experience? I was thinking $675 plus shipping.
  2. Do you have a Boat/US or West Marine store near you? They will have some of the Garmin handhelds in stock. At least the 72 and 76 series and Etrex Color units.
  3. Unbelievable that some are still trying to pursue this. Everyone knew up front that this was probably an error. That anyone would still be trying to "work" this can only be attributed to greed. I can only hope that others will be equally forgiving of you when you make a mistake.
  4. I would suggest spending a few dollars on Cachemate, an excellent palm application which will store not only the waypoints, but the decription, hints, logs, as well as giving you a compass rose pointer to use when caching. You will also need to become a premium member and set up pocket queries to get your cache listings.
  5. Are you looking for true marine charting, or just a database of navaids? If you want charting, thr legend is not a good choice due to lack if adequate map memory. A map 60c or 76c would be better choices. You will still have to purchase Garmins' Blue Chart software regardless of what unit you go with. For good charting on a handheld gps, expect to pay $500 to $600 between the unit and the software.
  6. THe Marine is the same unit, it just comes with an SD card pre loaded with Magellans Bluenav software. Bluenav is ok for marine, but it pales in comparison to Garmin's Bluechart software. (My opinion only, your mileage may vary)
  7. The iQue uses a special version of the palm desktop software, a standard palm version will not work. Garmin should be able to provide you with a new set-up disk. I have read many accounts of them replacing bad disks, so they are available. If you don't have any luck with them, if you have access to a freinds disk just burn a copy. Hopefully you did not lose your City Select software as well, as that has to be unlocked to use. There is no copywrite violation in burning the set-up disk, as you did pay for a copy when you bought the iQue.
  8. THe 276c is not a rumor. Its on Garmins' website, and will ship next month.
  9. Taken from Garmins' website: " (Please note: The StreetPilot 2650 can only be purchased through authorized installation dealers because the product requires a connection to a vehicle's speedometer and backup lights. Customers will not be able to buy this product over the counter or install it themselves.)"
  10. We do not have them at West Marine yet. I would imagine this is because Garmin is not yet producing them in large enough quantities. As they ramp up production we will be stocking them. Probably the same story at other large retailers.
  11. 100% sure it uses the same data cards, I asked the Garmin rep. This was at West Marines' Managers conference in Monterey last week. We had a 3 day trade show, and Garmin had a booth. I said shipping BY summer or SOONER, that is an open ended timeframe for a product that has not yet even been announced by Garmin. Per the rep, they are watching sell-thru on the 176c before releasing the 276
  12. The 276c is the same form factor as the current unit. It does support auto routing. Uses the same data cards as the current unit. I believe we were told that the 76c will auto route as well. The reps were unclear as to when the 76c will be formally announced, but the 276c will be shipping by summer, perhaps sooner depending on sell-thru on the 176.
  13. Just returned from a marine trade show. Garmin had the 276c there. Screen is much brighter and clearer than the 176 and it refreshes much faster as well. The unit also has a rechargable L-ion battery. Soon to be announced---GPSmap 76C, a color version of the 76 with over 100mb of memory!
  14. Ok, here we go: 1. From any page, hit the "ENT" button, this will open up the Create Waypoint menu. 2. Move the black highlighter down to the "Entered Pos" option and push "ENT" twice, this opens up a box to manually enter coordinates. 3. Hit "ENT" again to move the active field to Lattitude, then use the directional pad to enter your numbers. Hit "ENT" again when finished. 4. Use the directional pad to move to Longitude and repeat above step. 5. Hit "EXIT" when finished, another dialog box will pop up that allows you to Edit the waypoints name, see it on the map, goto , etc. Hope this helps!
  15. Anyone who would tell you to "get a life" for geocaching probably doesn't have a life of their own to compare it to!
  16. See current thread in the Gps Units and Software forum.
  17. 1-battery life is about 10-15 hours using none of the power saving features. Would be less using the backlight.2- I have used it in the car quite a bit, and it has worked well.3- As far as accuracy goes, with a good WAAS signal I get EPEs as low as 18 ft, for what that is worth. I have had no trouble locating any caches. 4-I have not tried to use downloads from geocaching, so I don't know if it will work or not. I have always entered cache coordinates manually. 4-The iFinder was my first gps, but I just bought an iQue 3600 to use as well. Hope this helps!
  18. I use an iFinder for caching, and have great success with it. You are already aware of the one major negative, the case. Great screen, and the maps you can load on the mmc are very detailed. There is no other mapping gps in that price range.
  19. Not to mention, you can't jugde the accuracy of any gps by the last 50 feet of a cache hunt. Most of us know that is when all consumer grade gps units become erratic.
  20. I also use an iFinder and have had nothing but success with it. Probably the biggest reason more people don't use Lowrance is a lack of marketing to the handheld gps customer. Lowrance is big in the fishing world, considered by many to be the best in sounders for the serious angler. For reasons known only to them, they don't push for the handheld market.
  21. I have been very pleased with my iFinder. The screen is much easier to read than the small (in my opinion) etrex. Is the cd included the Mapcreate 6 software? If it is you will be able th load highly detailed maps. The only big negative in my mind if the fact that the iFinder case is not waterproof.
  22. I'll make sure to check for time stamp next time I'm out with the iFinder. Y'know, the iFinder doesn't get much respect on these boards, but I have had nothing but positive experiences with mine. With Map Create 6 you can load extremely detailed streetmaps with searchable POI. If they would just come out with a topo disk I'd be set. I do wish Lowrance had built a more rugged and waterproof case.
