  1. This is the first one that I have seen that someone released. I think it is ok to give out this reference #TB2FCMN . I took a couple of pic and will take a couple of more. I was able to find the cache and felt kinda lucky to have this coin still in the cache so I can help it on its way! Like I said in my log, it is too bad I am not going to florida until Febuary sometime I could have put a few extra miles on it! O-well, I am glad this person reeased there coin and I got to help it on its way.

I thought you might enjoy watching one of your coins. I hope after I release it again, hopefully within a week or two at the most,it stays moving a safe for awhile.

    -Dardevle-

Congrats on finding the coin! However the question arises did you find the deer? I have been out twice in Archery and missed but Gun season opens here in PA Next week.

Good to see GSA is still alive and well and under cover!

  2. Usually when I ride rail trails I do not where a helmet on my bicycle. But if I am on a wooded trail I will wear one. I was bareling up a hill about six years ago wearing a helmet and it had gotten dark so I was really trying to get out of the woods, it was an October evening with the moon hiding behind the clouds when I came to the top of the hill and pushed hard on the flat I entered a field and immediately struck a deer, I was thrown from the bike and landed a few yards away with no road kill to show. I was sore for a couple of days, never heard from the deer again.

Helmets are a good thing, and I have stopped riding those little trails. I have to admit I have a little 49cc Girelli moped I ride to work without a helmet but it is only a mile and a half and a huge shoulder to ride on, not a whole lot of traffic in Amish country especially at 5:00 AM.

  3. Sure you don't want to trade?

I like coins that are just plain fun! The summermeltdown cointest was alot of fun, the coin would serve as a purpose to remind you of that fun. I know the birds of a feather coin I won in the magnetic pooetry cointest is sitting on a coinstand in the dining room and serves as a reminder of the fun had in the contest, not my answers only but responses by others some creativly ingeneous I thought, Including the announcments of the winners launching a new cointest.

I have two designs out to venders right now, one is a simple display type coin that will display itself, an approach I have not seen yet in a coin although I have had it laser cut and glass beaded with good results and some guys at work keep it on their desk.

The second is more on the line of a Kids coin that has a little of my prickly humor, and a new concept for coins that if made I hope will inspire others to add a little more humor.

Work and life can be serious so it is nice if coins are a diversion from that.

The serious artistic coins I think are wonderful too, especially those that follow the lines of the golden rectangle within their designs the angular symetry is soothing to the soul. I would that I had the artistic abilities as Tsun and others to create thing pleasurable to look at.

Even arpart from the initial design there are color coordinations that work extremly well visually such as AvroAir's new personal aviator watch with the lines and information seemingly laid out to perfection. Another good one is the multi colored birka that is detailed and coordinated.

Some coins are sought after because of the cacher they personalize such as Mouskakat suncatcher, while a nice coin on its own the personalization of the cacher makes it more.

I think there are elements in new coin creation that are new and unique that make the coin desirable, in this reguard we see the ten commandments and the new puzzle coin.

It is hard for me quantify all the things that go into making a successful coin as you can tell by just some of the examples.

These are just my thoughts on coins in general, as you can tell I pretty much like them all for various reasons, each has its own desirability but those that can combine the elements rise to the top.

  4. It is always hard to constrain the idea of what constitutes orginial, sometimes an ingeneous twist to a design will make it so. Creativity can be simple or complicated and comes in alot more forms than art. I have submitted a few designs that while are not necessarily artistic, if they are made they will be something that has not been done before. The people that make the coins have to send it to the mint to see if it can be made, which is not really accurate, what they really want to know if it can be made cheap enough to sell. It is difficult to match creativity with producability knowing the consumer is both selective and sensitive in purchasing. Coins could be made really creative but how much are you willing to spend. I work in a Fab shop and could get a TB# and craft a three foot circuler coin out of 1/4 stainless diamond plate and weld on the extras and idea I had for the coinfest in pittsburgh. I work with a guy here that handcrafts items out of stone and stainless a stunning combination but it takes him a great deal of time.

Shaped coins while unique I believe need to be laser cut and then pressed, while the round blanks could be cast in considerable quantity and sold in bulk reducing the cost. I have seen precision castings that could produce reale 3D shapes but the molds for such things here in america are quite expensive.

With all that said cretivity is meeting the dollar in coin production and limitations are expected.

  5. No PARacers I did not get any of your nickles, and Yes Boots I thought you might be interested in a few I have laying around. I leave a pathtag and I have to take something, so I have a few of PADude from a bike/fishing trip down the allegheny passage about a month before the coinfest.

  6. I would suggest using the kitchen table, the coffee table, your desk, and a few corners on the floor, boxes on the floor, backpack, truck cup holder and console. I find these work exceptionaly well for complete and utter chaos.

:anicute: You too eh! Coffee table, makeup kit box, dresser and bathroom are a few more :D

You guys missed my favorite spot the computer desk where I can examine them daily

  7. The last random drawing prizes I gave out also need to be send out as well, they will come soon as I am mailing out everything over the next few days.

    Best Regards,

    MRJIFFY

Mr. Jiffy - Thank you so much for this cool contest! I truly enjoyed looking at all the pictures that were posted. I also had a blast placing two of the coins. One traveled around this area, and another went straight across the pond after I dropped it.

I know that this contest must have been really expensive to put on! I can't even imagine what you paid out of your own pocket to do this for us!

    Thank you so much!

    :anicute:

    Ditto for me!

I loved this cointest! and was able to retrieve two! it was a great deal of fun looking at the fun pictures and planning a few!

  8. I am not too worried about recieving the coin, I have spent a good bit of time thinking about what it must take to plan this project, and then attempt to execute it. Has to be a difficult endevour.

Thanks again MrJiffy I had a great deal of fun in this cointest and I love the coin design. In fact it has been educational I had force myself to learn how to post pictures in order to enter. I now know what PhotoBucket is.

I was going to make T-shirts to wear to the cointest you know the wanted mr. Jiffy flyers and I bought the transferes got the designs made up, Bought a couple white Ts with yelloy trim around the sleeves and collars and when I ran the transfers through the printer they did not come out the transfers say Ink-Jet and My printer is Laser so I felt pretty stupid, Things don't always go as planned at least for me.
