  1. I agree here. I had to install mine again after a crash, and just used my cables an pulled the unlock code out of the GPS to the new install. Just remember, your brother must have the same version that you had or it may not work.
  2. Along similar lines, what about something that allows cache/TB owners to see who is watching their stuff? Not sure how doable this is, just a suggestion though.
  3. Thanks for the replies. I will be sure to inform him on this. I will post if he has any difficulties that I can't figure out over the phone.
  4. Ok, my dad just bought one of these to use in his RV for routing and maps and such. Anyone using this that can give me some input on how it works? Will he have any issues? It came with City Select 5.01, but I think he is going to upgrade it to version 6. Thanks in advance for your help.
  5. YES! Our 11 year old daughter and 8 year old son truely enjoy it. Our daughter is pretty darn good at finding them too. They even want their own GPS's!
  6. Since the log options have changed to "Attended" then we do log ours. As we did "Attend" if we didn't Attend, then we do not log. No mater who the original poster is. Just our $0.02
  7. I still do not understand why a premium membership needs to be tied to a Credit Card. Really the only difference in the accounts id the MOC's, PQ's and access to the "Off Topic" forum. If there is something else, someone please tell me, because I am missing out on something. Why does GC.com need credit card info for those 3 items? Can someone explain why that is necessary in laymans terms?
  8. Maybe if during the process of them using the gift card to obtain membership, they would have to enter their credit card number for verification purposes... Then the responsibility falls back on them instead of the purchaser. Just a thought.
  9. Now there is an idea... Maybe Groundspeak could look into this....
  10. Yes we use them and LOVE them. Our highest usage time is during event in the Osceola National Forest. Most of our caching friends carry them and it really help with late comers and if someone fall behind. They are also handy doing urban caches where parking is limited, the wife can drop me off and I can radio her to pick me up after I have found it, or vise versa. We have the Motorola 5700's they are rechargeable. The kids have 5200's they run on AA's, and as cachers, we have lots of them.
  11. I hid a seven gallon bucket... Bucket-O-Cache Where is my prize?
  12. So, The Australian Red Cross gets a VIRTUAL cache, but a Toys for Tots EVENT cache is told to change it's name? I really do not understand the thinking behind this. Not only is this a Charity cache, it is a VIRTUAL. At least put out a container for all to find. Or make it a travel bug. i remember seeing one for 9/11. It was a box full of donation envelopes addressed to the Firemans Fund in NYC.
  13. BAD Links.... NO GO.... I took some of the photos that are supposed to be in the Jeep article... I CAN"T see them as there are BAD LINKS!!!
  14. My wife's Meridian Gold came with a lanyard the screws into the hole in the back of the unit where the cables hook up. Our only complaint about that is, you have to keep removing and reattaching it when using the vehicle mount. Other than that, it works quite nice
  15. Here is a link to a story on our local forums. 4 Jeeps stuck going to a cache. a link to the pictures is in there also. NEFGA Stuck
  16. Thank you for the inhouse link Jeremy. I will use it for TB tags. I guess I will try to get a local order together to help defray the shipping costs as the item I was looking for is not available in house.
  17. Ok, I wanted to order 1 item. A single Geocaching Hiking staff emblem. A very inexpensive and small item, but I was detered from ordering it as the shipping costs were twice as much as the single item. Why does the Groundspeak store only use UPS? Dropping this emblem in the mail with a $0.37 stamp and it would get here fine. But I am not paying twice the price of an item to have it shipped here.
  18. How in the world does it ever get moved? Only rarely and by the very determined. It has been taken out of it's current cache a couple of times, but they always bring it back. Of course some jokers have taken it out and placed it beside the micro I have in my front yard, but I always take it back. It's goal is to see the ocean, so I may take it to GeoWoodstock III. Bring it down, we would love to see it here in Florida.
  19. Garmin GPSMAP60C and City Select Version 6.01. No Issues, USB connectivity, auto routing.
  20. Yes, you must rename the map before you upload another. It only sends one name out for the files, if you do not rename, then you overwrite. Then to change maps on the fly in the GPS, it is under the Card Utilities menu options, called select map.
  21. The best way I have found is to use a card reader and send map direclty to the card, then rename the map in Windows Explorer and upload another, and repeat until card is full. This is how I got a ll the maps I needed in when we took our road trip from FL to NY. I could not get it to work send directly to the card through the GPS. I got my card reader at Wal-Mart for about $10. It sends map info so much faster because it is USB.
  22. I still don't understand why this is an issue. If someone feels that they can not support this charity, then don't attend. Smae principal as If you don't like micros, don't hunt them, if you don't like puzzle caches, don't hunt them. Sounds like a bunch of whiners that don't like the way things are done. And still no OFFICIAL RESPONSE from TPTB...
  23. I too would like to hear from Jeremy or Hydee on this matter, not through the volunteer approvers, but straight from them why this whole thing is happening. Like it was said earlier in this thread, I think most everyone has been approached at work for one charity or another. All have been endorsed by the employers. But the only "Charity" that Groundspeak recognizes is CITO and that isn't a REAL Charity. Come on folks, Step up to the plate and speak out like I have seen you do it before.
