  1. I disagree with your assertion that noone will agree with your suggestion. Had to disagree on something, since your suggestion is a good one.
  2. Yes, but we hate it! If you must: Use DHTML. javascript can nicely add/remove divs based on the onselect.
  3. One reads the entire name of your TBs without scrolling all over the place like it was before.
  4. Please lose the page refresh when logging. It's super annoying. The larger TB area is nice, it was too small before.
  5. It's very difficult to permanently brick an Oregon. The Oregon wiki http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/ has downgrade instructions which actually work. I thought I had bricked mine a few updates ago, but was able to downgrade it after trying the steps for about an hour. (the timing can be tough!) If you try them once or twice and it doesn't work, it can just be bad timing. I literally tried it 10-15 times before my downgrade worked. Granted, this was a few updates ago.
  6. Absolutely, the site needs better friends management and tools. We love to follow each other's finds. An RSS feed of friends finds would be great. We'd also love to able to easily find each other's DNFs -- those are often the best stories! But there is no easy way to list a person's DNFs. Though many will naysay, this is another one of those: Those who don't like, can not partake. Privacy controls could go along with this, allowing any user to hide any aspect of their stats, etc.

    i still want it

Right click on Monkey face, Manage User Script Select GC View Log Link In the Included Pages box, select the link and edit. Change wid to ID. It should read : http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?ID=* I tested it. It now works for me. I know. That's how i found and verified the bug. But good to include that info for those who don't know how to fix it themselves.

    i still want it

Just tested it, doesn't work.. Also found the bug in the script, it's only enabled by default for: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?wid=* that should be: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?id=* Or probably just http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx* since i'm not sure in what case it's "wid" vs "id" vs "lid".
  9. This is a great idea. One of the simplest ideas that makes so much sense. they are really just saved searches now. The fact that they can be downloaded is just a side benefit.
  10. Just a suggestion -- i prefer the smaller icons which GoogleEarthTweaker provides. The large icons as above block out a lot of the map. (to see the smaller icons, run a GPX file through GoogleEarthTweaker with 'small icons' checked and open the kml with google earth) -Ben
  11. Would love to see an RSS feed of friends' logs. Currently we follow each other manually which is quite a hassle. I'd be OK with limiting this to friends only to placate the silly people who will say this impacts privacy in some way... (it doesn't really, imo... but i'll give -Ben
  12. Great suggestion. Obviously many people use GSAK for this but sometimes i accidentally use a new DB, or grab a PQ on the go, and forget to run it through GSAK to pick up my corrected coords.
  13. I googled bluetooth 60csx and found this -- http://www.semsons.com/bluetcarchar3.html for $39.99. No idea how well it works. Rather than purchasing a new Bluetooth GPS receiver, Bluetooth Car Charger can upgrade an existing Garmin GPS into a Bluetooth GPS receiver. Use Garmin GPS as mouse GPS in the car with PDA or as stand along handheld GPS receiver for outdoors. -Ben
  14. The caches were GCZZHN and GCXZ0Z. Looks like they didn't log them online. GCXZ0Z is actually one of those syng ryrpgevpny cyngrf ... not too surprised they didn't find it. -Ben

    Home coordinates

This is no format issue. Give the page a try.. enter some coords which are not near any roads. It 'snaps' to the nearest point of interest. -Ben
  16. Amazon has great price protection. Buy it at the higher price, then email them and their customer service will lower it for you. I got $300 back on my TV!
  17. Home coordinate entry on http://www.geocaching.com/account/ManageLocations.aspx is rather broken. Attempt to set this as your home coords: N 34° 59.410 W 118° 22.550 the site refuses to accept that, and instead changes it to: N 35° 08.080 W 118° 31.986 which is many miles away.

    Home coordinates

I can't speak for the USA but the system doesn't work fine here in this well-mapped urban area in the UK. Unfortunately there now isn't one. Groundspeak has decided that all home coordinates entered by the user must be converted to somewhere else. Let's just hope they don't start doing the same for caches . This actually does appear to be a rather serious site bug. I think it's related to the recent changes google maps has made to hand-entering coordinates. For example, enter this on the home coordinates page: N 34° 59.410 W 118° 22.550 It refuses to let you set that, changing it to "N 35° 08.080 W 118° 31.986" ! Search Request: N 34° 59.410 W 118° 22.550 Latitude, Longitude: N 35° 08.080 W 118° 31.986 The change to hand-entering coordinates affects http://maps.google.com -- if you enter coords on there, it 'zooms' to the nearest point of interest, rather than to the actual coordinates you entered, which could be miles away.
  19. And today it's working -- the distance/bearings are relative to my home coords. Perhaps this was a temporary bug that was fixed... Next time i see it, i'm taking screenshots.
  20. I noticed bookmark lists have a distance/bearing now next to each cache. Was that always there? Not sure what it's relative to. It doesn't seem to be relative to my own home coordinates. Seems like it might be relative to one of the caches i viewed recently.
  21. It now says "If there is a stamp inside a letterbox hybrid".... lame. I think all letterbox hybrid caches should have stamps... that's the idea. All letterboxes have stamps. So, an 'offset' cache (letterbox-style) without a stamp is just a multi (multis don't have to ahve coords at each wp, even according to the description of a Multi, below) or a puzzle cache. LBH's should have stamps. An LBH without a stamp is just a multi or "offset cache", as stated by the Multi Description:
  22. And there lies the problem. I'd rather just delete the inaccurate found caches if I can. In some cases, I "found" the caches a year before they were placed. Just visit each log, click view log, then click delete log. You can then go to the correct cache and re-log it -- the site accepts dates in the past for logs.
  23. Ok, i'll say what most people won't. I don't geocache to pick up trash. Picking up trash isn't fun. I don't geocache to "make the world a better place". Yes, I am a selfish american consumer. I do need a CITO event for the icon, though If Groundspeak wants CITO to gain popularity, add meta-game motivators to the site: badges on your profile for 10, 25 CITO events attended, and i guarantee there will be a lot more CITO events!
