  1. ...or Better yet A Big *[[[[[[*, a new Mopar Hemi, and a nice street cruiser Bike (pics of all 3 in this post) that's what I treated my self to for my 40th this year ...I still need a geo-ho though Back on topic, Happy B-Day Mopar
  2. No wife, No Kids ,just turned 40 = LOTSA TOYS!
  3. My Cache-Mobile collection : For the toughest trails, the 01' TJ (Heavily Modified) : For the street, and winter driving, The 04'Ram,Hemi,4x4,Quad Cab For the warm sunny days on the street, my 03' Honda VTX1300 mine's actually Candy Red, but I really like this photograph I also use a Marin (Titanium) Mountainbike when I'm feeling energetic
  4. Just one more reason I love my 'Ol Rusty TLC. The doubler cost about the same, but you have the flexability to go to the higher ratio on the highway. AH but the T-case reduction kit only effects the 4Lo setting , 4Hi and 2Hi remain stock, otherwise top end on the freeway would only be 35 mph
  5. Yup, I had to spend an entire day to re-aligne my driveshafts, not just due to the lift, but the fact that I raised my transfercase 3" to sit flat to the underside of the frame. I replaced the stock rear shaft with a high angle CV shaft, rotated the rear pinion tilt aprox 12º by adjusting rear lower control arms in while adjusting the upper control arms out. It's critical that there are no driveline vibrations. Most street 4x4's that lift for looks, drop the t-case to compensate for the added lift hieght, but to me that negates the purpose for the lift in the first place. (More Clearence!)
  6. wow this thread is still going. One thing to keep in mind with larger tires, it requires lower ratio gears (higher numerically.) So be prepared to spend as much $ on gears and labor as you did for tires and wheels. Also the upper limits for a stock YJ Dana30/Dana35 diff is a 33" tire, a 37" M/T-R would require at least a pair of Dana 44's, or better yet Dana 60's....that is if you plan to use it I've seen my fair share of Dana 35 rear ends blow up when equiped with a 33" mud tire. BTW..."Chrome wont get you Home" Rusty, no room for a doubler in a Jeeps driveline, the rear drive shaft is only about 12" long as it is. You have to do a transfer case reduction (re-gear) to get to 4:1 from stock 2.72:1...oh yeah, that's another $1000
  7. Well I just happend to have one of those myself, and believe me It aint no Jeep and it wont go anywhere my Jeep goes. SLT,4x4,Quad-Cab,Sport, Full load except leather...and oh yeah, it's got a Hemi

  10. Thanks guys ...and I can assure you, it aint just for taking pictures, and it's not a Pavement Princess. It has been to places full size rigs have only seen photographs of....Pic's taken by Jeepers It's about 230HP and its about half the weight of a Full Size extended cab truck, it's been regeared to 4.56's , Dual ARB Air Locking differentials, 7" Lift, Heavy Duty transfercase conversion,36" SuperSwampers and has 23" Clearance under the middle. I've also got a 9500lb Warn winch on the front, but its certainly isn't used very often. More pictures in this thread : http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...pic=52198&st=50
  11. "It's a Jeep thing, you wouldnt understand" ~ common catch phrase among Jeepers Jeep is not just a vehicle, kind of like a Harley isnt just a motorcycle, there is a lifestyle and attitude among many of us who actually venture beyond the pavement with our Jeeps. My OffRoad albums Here
  12. I have Soft doors (canvas) hidden behind the seats, and a full Soft Top for the summer. ...but only for when it rains. For the Winter I have a Full HardTop and Full Steel Doors old picture from the day I bought it My Website Here
  13. It took a couple takes until I got it just right. My left arm is holding my digi camera and its barely noticable. I would have just used the timer feature but there wasn't anything near to set the camera on.
  14. Me taking a picture of me taking a picture of me It's a cache called Photo-Op, everyone who visits takes one photo on the disposable camera and records the number of thier pic in the log book. When the camera is full the owner retreives it and posts the developed pictures on the site. Then starts a new camera Here's the Cache Page
  15. Not sure I'll ever get that far south, but I'd sure love to go. I live in Edmonton Alberta (Canada eh!) Here's something you guys may enjoy, Its' a video clip of my Jeep doing a Rocky Mountain River Rescue pulling out two other Jeeps (at the Same time) First one stalled, second one got hung up on a hidden boulder trying to pull him out. Guess they didnt pay attention and follow my line. http://members.shaw.ca/spound/julylong_02/julylong02_pt2.wmv That was a fun day!
  16. Stuck? whats that? My Cache-mobile is fairly well equiped (I'm a Jeep Jamboree Trail-Guide) No, it's not stuck here, just posing for a picture Dual ARB's,( air locking differentials ) 4.56 Gears 36" SuperSwamper tires 7" Lift / 23" ground clearance 9500lb Warn Winch full skid plates Hi-Lift Jack Shovel JerryCans Extra Parts and Tools (and My GPS of course) ...and if I'm in real trouble, CB and Ham Radio It's not often I let a little rock in the road slow me down More action photo's Here: http://community.webshots.com/user/bjotf Hard to tell from this angle, but this is a fairly steep Hill climb, with a large rutt right up the middle... This one is my favorites, I drove out of a real pickle with 3 tires in the air, just needed a little nudge from my buddy to get me back on all fours Better pics of the whole climb Here: http://community.webshots.com/album/42307295PJnCRt More info on my Jeep here: http://members.shaw.ca/ecojeeper/indexpage.html
  17. quote:Originally posted by reastick:There's a pretty strong community in Calgary, but it isn't really a club or anything. There are get-togethers every so often, and http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid={CA16E4D5-744C-4EA7-9924-56DAE19D5589} even had an attendee from Edmonton I believe. . Yup , that was me from Edmonton [], great group in Calgary, and I have to thank outforthehunt for extending the invite to me. I visit once a month because My Girlfriend lives in Calgary ...right beside the final coords of the GCGW3B Mystery Cache, where I'm typing this from right now. I'm looking forward to the next Event Cache and CITO in the Calgary area...those have both yet to happen in E-Town. Maybe you should start something ChiefPig? I would like to, but I'm in the process of moving to Cowtown soon so I haven't even been able to plan hiding my first cache yet.
  18. Here's the final product Turned out pretty good for my first effort...and didnt cost me anything (except for the Metal Tag)
  19. Yes Philip, that is another one that impressed me as well. The one thing that I've noticed about the paper passports I've seen...they can deteriorate a lot faster than the laminated ones. Normal wear and tear, dirt and water and being handled hundreds of times by dirty hands could take thier toll after a longer journey. Two of the Sheep I've picked up of yours (Sherri and Sheldon) were still fine, but they have not gone too far yet . The one feature I do like about yours is the ability to have the cachers sign the passport...cant do that on a laminated card. BTW, I meant to ask, since there's a good chance Sheldon's going all the way to Banff this trip, despite my giving Sherri big head start a month ago....Where do they go when the T/B race is over?
  20. Here's a quick first draft I created in Adobe Illustrator... Front and Back
  21. Excellent , just what I was looking for, Thank you. I really like this one: I host all my own .jpg's .gif's and .wav files, so not a problem there.
  22. I just activated my very first T/B Az The Crow Flyz ... but want to attach a small laminated tag with T/B instructions so he doesn't end up in some kids toy box. I've noticed others have made some cool little passports with some information and a little Geo-Logo Some have their own mini log you can sign and date, then return to into a little plastic sleeve before you drop them off. Is there a page somewhere that can be downloaded and printed...or should I just try and make my own? Also, has anyone made any creative webpages for thier T/B with different backgrounds, sound clips and animated gif's ? I just noticed you're allowed to use HTML when setting up the bugs page.
  23. Well I've just about got a full load on the T/B Express, 6 Bugs plus one of my own I'm just in the process of activating. Az The Crow Flyz Hopefully I can come back to E-Town with 7 new bugs after a week of caching in Calgary/Banff. Thanks again for your help ChiefPig
  24. Glad you enjoyed the Sulphur Mountain hike!, I knew you would . Calgary is loaded with great Caches, and great Cachers!!!I met about 20 of them at an event cache (GCGWDA) last month when I was down from Edmonton. I'm heading down again this weekend with a load of bugs to trade and a long list of caches to hunt again. Hope to pick up a couple of your travellers and bring them up north for a visit.
