  1. I guess I will talk with BLM now. Thanks for the help, as I just wanted to get some idea of the circumtances.
  2. Thanks. I didn't realize that BLM wasn't at all standardized.
  3. Yes, it would likely be a problem for local wildlife. However, it's a bit weird, as it is a concrete lined pond filled with koi (Sounds like it's private, eh? I'll have to study those maps more). It is so manmade(or at least severely modified), it seems as though there is a bit more debate to the issue.
  4. Thinking of hiding a cache in a spring on BLM land in Cochise County, Az. Has anyone gotten a permit, or whatever is necessary, from BLM for this sort of thing?? Do you know the chances of this going forward? Does this cause degradation to the environment, or some such thing, that BLM wouldn't want. The container is just a water bottle (waterproofness is another issue, but one that I will handle myself). I originally posted this in the General Geocaching Discussions section, but maybe this is a better place for it. Please tell me your thoughts.

  6. My criteria for a good cache are: 1.good location 2. good hiding spot 3. good container 4. good swag Now, let us see these in more detail. 1. Not a parking lot; spectacular vista would be good. 2. The container can be a fake rock(which I think is pretty cool) turned upside down and in the wrong color. Fairly good container but bad method and place of hiding. 3. By this I mean creative containers. One amazing cacher in my area made a fake roadside cross with a hollow top piece of wood that had a rotatable top. In that was an Altoids tin (with the first trackable that I had seen ). All homemade too!!! 4. I include dryness and logbook/pencil quality. Now for the lame caches. Basically the opposite of the criteria for good caches. Here is an example of a"lame" cache. It was a film canisterbad contanier under a railing with no way of conceling itbad hiding spot with only a few sheets of wet, silghtly moldy paperbad swag/logbook right by a steep slope filled with trashbad location(at least there was a OK view from the parking lot). GCRGFY another lame one:GC17XW7. Mr. magnetos in signs ! Outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. 1.Try the semi-urban caches in the desert beacuse they have to be very creative. 2. look for silny jako bek caches. They are very creative! cheetahkids are good too. If you are looking for a larger urban cache try casa insecto or canister cache(south). Coming in from the north there is tangerine TB depot right by I-10 on Tangerine road(far north). It's right by the insterstate so it has lots of TBs if you want to pick up some.
