  1. GC1CA8 appears to be the cache that brought up the question. It was hidden by Vagabond and Yrium back in 2001 and disappeared in November of last year. Except for the fact that it is old, there doesn't appear to be anything special about the cache. It was a nice, old cache in a park that required a bit of a hike--certainly a spot worthy of a cache, but nothing really special. There was a year of DNFs that eventually caused a cacher to post a "needs archived" log. Yrium (the named owner)is no longer with us, but there was a year when anyone in the caching community could have repaired the cache and kept it going. As it was, it died a natural death. All things die, including caches. Hopefully, at least some of the 226 cachers who found the cache will have some fond memories of the find. Let it rest in peace.
  2. All reviewers are not human, nor are they all dogs.
  3. As the reviewer who looked at your cache, I found this very interesting.
  4. Yes. We've already begun asking on new hides.
  5. I'm in the closet, but what the heck, everyone else is posting pictures, so here I am.
  6. Effective immediately, any new caches that are hidden within the boundaries of the Coachella Valley Preserve will require the prior approval of the Land Manager. The Preserve is NOT trying to eliminate geocaching, but wants to be sure that caches are not hidden in environmentally sensitive areas, and that permission is requested before hiding the cache. If you are planning to hide a cache within the boundaries, please contact the land manager first to get approval, by calling the Visitor Center at 760-343-2733 and arranging to speak with the land manager. Additionally, the Preserve will also be looking at each of the caches currently active within the boundaries and asking cache owners to contact them regarding these caches, before the end of the year. This will affect more than 150 currently active caches. I would anticipate that most of the current caches will be approved, though some will either have to be moved or archived. Again, it is not the intent of the Preserve to curtail geocaching within its boundaries. Rather, they want to ensure that the land and the unique species that call it home are protected, while still allowing people to enjoy those same resources.
  7. There are a large number of new caches in your reviewer's queue right now. A number of these are "ahead" of yours. Have a bit more patience. I'm pretty sure that the review of your cache will be completed today. Remember please that reviewers are volunteers who make time in their busy lives to review caches. It is a way that they have chosen to give something back to geocaching. Take some time, grab a few caches, and I'm pretty sure that by the time you come back, yours will be published too.
