  1. Sorry for opening a big can of worms. Just thought you people would get a kick out of the article. As for Crest containing sodium flouride, thats true I just checked my tube of it upstairs. It contains exactly 0.243% sodium flouride. Sure thats gonna kill us all for sure.... Hey I just got a great idea!!! Small tubes of toothpaste in caches as trade items. 2. Here is a copy a link that will explain why drugs should not be flushed. Wether you agree with it or not is your choice. http://www.wired.com/news/print/0,1294,56913,00.html GEOCACHING CHANGED MY LIFE - Laugh everyday. Life's too short. But if you have to get mad then that's OK too.
  3. "If you live near a big city chances are you have water treatment plants so its okay to flush them. " WRONG!!! Water treatment will not always remove some of these man made drugs.. GEOCACHING CHANGED MY LIFE - Laugh everyday. Life's too short. But if you have to get mad then that's OK too.
  4. I share in your excitement. I bought my first GPS less than a month ago and we have done 9 caches. (Mainly on weekends). Sure beats sitting in front of the boob tube hours on end watching make believe shows. We have seen places we never knew existed and we haven't even left our own town yet. No longer will I live under a rock.. Now I climb over and around them... GEOCACHING CHANGED MY LIFE - Laugh everyday. Life's too short. But if you have to get mad then that's OK too.
  5. quote:Originally posted by GatoRx:Get them out of the cache as quick as you can. And don't just throw them away, flush them. Garbage cans/bags are still accessible to other people and animals, which means there's a chance for poisoning. ---- When in doubt, poke it with a stick. What ever you do, DO NOT FLUSH THESE PILLS.. I just read an article in the paper about the millions of old perscription drugs being flushed down toilets. Think about it!!! These drugs are getting into our water supply slowly but surely. The article states that you should return old perscription drugs to the pharmicist for disposal. Now granted you have no idea what these drugs are and I would be very leary in returning these. I would call the police ( park district or city) either way... GEOCACHING CHANGED MY LIFE - Laugh everyday. Life's too short. But if you have to get mad then that's OK too.

  8. Have I ever had a bad day? What do you think!!! <---------------------------------- I once had a week on vacation at my parents house where it started with my father sliding down the side of a hill in his new truck smashing it up with me, my husband and youngest kid in the back. And the week ended with my father losing control of a house boat he rented and we drifted aimlessly is the high wind and waves until we were saves by jet skiers hours later. So whaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!! But I have never been shot at so I guess your day was worse. GEOCACHING CHANGED MY LIFE - Laugh everyday. Life's too short. But if you have to get mad then that's OK too.

  11. Is there a way to look at virtual caches on this site without having to flip thru all the pages that are available in my general area? Cats can be lazy........... GEOCACHING CHANGED MY LIFE - Laugh everyday. Life's too short. But if you have to get mad then that's OK too.

  14. Please explain to me this. If I find the cache, write in the logbook that I was there. Then log on to geocaching.com that I found the cache, and that cache shows up in my list of found caches, why on earth do I still need to reply to the owner of the cache for credit? This seems totally redundant if you ask me! Am I missing something? GEOCACHING CHANGED MY LIFE - Laugh everyday. Life's too short. But if you have to get mad then that's OK too.

I geocache in the summers mostly. If there is a pole at the North Pole, I bet there's some dead explorer guy with his tongue stuck to it. Whoa!!!! 17. I heard about geocaching from a guy at work. I thought now that sounds like fun. I have only 5 find so far but I just love it. And everyone here in these forums are extremely helpful. [8D] GEOCACHING CHANGED MY LIFE- Laugh everyday life's too short.
  18. I was reading the post and I came up with a great idea on how to get my other kid involved in geocaching. Those wooden geocoins (wooden nickles) could be hand designed. Each one could have a number. I can't afford to mint my own coins but this would be a great way to get my kids art workk out into the public eye. She is an artist!!! I know this is not a new idea but a great way to channel artwork.. GEOCACHING HAS CHANGED MY LIFE... Laugh everyday life's too short.
  19. yes I understand averaging. I read it on one of the FAQ pages. Thanks for your concern.
  20. Thanks for the info. I think I better go buy a compass. The last cache I did I looked for 20 minutes because my needle on the GPS just kept spinning as I got closer and I was in heavy tree cover. Every time I go out I learn something new.. Thanks again...
  21. I'm new to geocaching and I spent several weeks online just reading post of what other people use. I chose the extrec Legend. It was 199 dollars but it was worth every penny. You want a GPS that you can download waypoints from the computer. This makes things a lot simpler than manually entering the way points. It also has memory so if I feel the need later to download maps I have that option. Its really up to you what you feel you need.
  22. I keep reading on the post about averaging waypoints to make sure the coordinates of a placed cache is correct. I understand that but I don't understand what is meant by triangulation or triangulate... I'm sure its some geometry thing with angles no doubt.. Just a simple explanation might help all us newbies.
  23. No one has mentioned a walking stick. I've only done 3 caches ( yep I'm a newbie) but I have used it on every hunt. Great when you need to bushwack through waist high grass. Great for poking in around and under prickle bushes. Just an all around good tool if you ask me.
  24. No kiddin!!! When I have my GPS in my left hand and my walking stick in my right I feel like a big kid on a treasure hunt. Its the best feeling in the world. ( I'm 43 but will always be a kid at heart.) Post away!!! Remember to laugh everyday.. Life's too short..
