  1. Make sure the ticks you are trying to remove from your dogs belly aren't it's nipples.
  2. .357 never leave home without at least one. Anything less will just piss it off.
  3. Thanks for the new info: Garmin "Chirp" "4" sale $25.00 shipping included.
  4. We won a Garmin "Chirp" geocaching beacon. It came this week directly from the factory. We have no use for it. We need gas money to support the geocaching habit. Seen them for sale in different catalogs for up-wards of $40.00 plus shipping. You can have this one for $30.00 shipping included. Happy Hunting Cardinal Flyer, a third of TEAM NIMROD
  5. My props to Lil Devil. 250 tins in the desert in three-quarters of a day, and hampered by the Mojave sirocco. If one has doubt's about Lil Devil, most of us know him as a 2001 cacher, the gpx spinner guy, 49 states finder, a GBES desert rally winner, a GWS-VI organizer, a NorCal and Nevada Delorme challenger, and other GC-ish things. I've cached until 3 or 4 in the a.m. with him. Amazing he did it alone, driving un-autorouted dirt, navigating jeep roads, keeping the hunt under 2 minutes, and moving on. As someone who's been out there, I'm certain he had the endurance to go to 300 under better conditions. Any 10K cacher can find a 1/1 in a minute, and anyone with 24 hour ironman endurance can do this. My group averaged a cache completed every 3.5 minutes on dirt, with all the doors slamming shut at about the same time. As long as there's 500 1/1 micros in urban places in California, there might as well be 500 micros in an uninhabited sliver of the desert. [edit] If this topic interests you, but one doubts themself about being able to complete the task, there's a place outside of Las Vegas that's just a plane ride and jeep adventure away. And hey, staying up 24 hours, you save 1 night's lodging. Yes that's true probably about finding a 1/1 rated cache in a minute, but getting to that cache signing the log getting back into what ever your mode of transportation and driving to the next 1/1 rated cache in less than 3 or 4 minutes is less than believable, sorry. I guess I'm just basing my opinion on caching only in the wilderness of Northern Idaho where a 1/1 rated cache can take 20 or so minutes of trekking up a deer trail or driving for 30 minutes through a series of switch backs to go 1 mile as the crow flies.
  6. Not meaning to detracr anything from VenturaKid's accomplishments, but I was wondering who claims the record for a single player - not a team - making the most finds in one day. Anyone know? Well there are 1440 minutes in a day. Driving, finding and signing for each cache, lets say 5 minutes a cache, equals out to 288 caches found in a day by one person. Anyone can say anything, but 5 minutes a cache, maybe driving by the coords and logging that as a find, you could do over 200 by yourself. or driving back and forth between time zones, maybe, you could use a molecular transporter for sure and get probably 5 or 6 hundred finds. but realistically over 200 by yourself in a 24 hr. span, doubtful.
  7. Hi All, Sometime the old bones are just not up for hiking. Is there a way to search for caches by D/T levels in spacific areas ? Thanks
  8. We at TEAM NIMROD have 2 Garmin 60CSX. We have no complaints. Got them both at WAL-MART.COM for less that $300.00 a piece with shipping
  9. We have two 60csx receivers, I think they both work great. We average every waypoint and are certain (+/-) of the coords for all of our hides. We came to realize in our short time of geocaching, that other people use fishfinders in their quest for the prize. And they will always log in that YOUR coords were off. We have never, almost never found a cache right dead on GZ, it always off a few feet. Don't worry about it no biggie, it's a game. Nothing more expensive or more sophisticated a civilian can get will preform any better. We once were caching in an area where a surveying crew was working. They had one of those tripod mounted high dollar units with all of the bells and whistles. Their unit didn't bring them any closer to GZ than my 60csx did.
  10. They claimed they were first to find at geocaching.com. Yet They had NO SIGNATURE in caches log.
  11. I'll try to be more clear. A cache was published yesterday. I went out early this morning to fid it, I did find it. The log book at the newly published cache was empty, brand new never written in. I was the first person to write in it. I signed my name , date, and time cache was found, and proclamed that I was FtF. when I returned home I logged the find at geocaching.com, only to find someone else claimed FtF. There were no other logs in the caches log book at the time of my finding it. Hope thats clear
  12. Hi, We're Team Nimrod of The Inland Northwest, and new to the sport, only 266 under our belts. But I think we are missing something, "DRIVE BY GEOCACHING" we just don't get it. We thought you had to actually find and sign the log, then post the find at Geocaching.com. Several of my own personal caches have had people log into Geocaching.com and post the find, but their name is not in the caches log. And today, we woke early to go caching, got a first to find, no other signatures in the log all blank pages except for ours. The cache we found was published last night. We get home to post our FtF at Geocaching.com, and there is somebody else logged in as the first. The log book was brand new never written in until I signed it. So is drive by Geocaching a new aspect of the sport that has not yet caught on or just an underground thing.
  13. Hi, Were fairly new to the sport, only 219 finds under our belt. We've noticed many cachers have various sorts of statistic sites added to their Geocaching accounts. Does anyone know of a FREE and EASY site we can try out ? Thanks Cardinal Flyer
  14. Thanks everyone for your replies, I think your input helped me make my mind up as to "Coin Dipping" not going to do it. I think driving for thousands of miles and paying stupid money for gas just to sign a little piece of paper is enough without the reminder of a Dipped Coin actually giving me the sad totals on a daily basis. Thanks Again Cardinal Flyer
  15. Hi, We are new to this sport and learning new stuff all the time, but this has us stumped. On one of our caches that was found today by someone, was logged they left a GeoCoin, which was cool. So I looked up the coins travel history, and it's been around the block a few times. But what was strange to us was the person who logged it in our cache also logged it out, and did this same thing at least a dozen times in many other caches they had found, log it in at the find then log it out, we think that is strange. Is it strange ? Can I do it with our 100th find coin we bought, but have not activated. Might be a cool idea logging in and out one coin to track our mileage until our 250th find coin. Cardinal Flyer Caitlyn Etux YAHOOO!!!
  16. Just wondering how many people that are complaining about the new site and all of it's problems actually are vested into it. Maybe if more people paid for the services they are using, then the powers that be would be able to hire people that really know how to make the system user friendly instead of geek friendly.
  17. My screen is 17' and I am getting that problem of having to scroll back and forth. Until this week they had me convenced it was a "Brouser Issue".
  18. No wonder your not answering the phone. I always knew the problems I was having were not a "Brouser Issue". Glad to finally here the truth, all the problems I experienced were on your end. One more fix. the driving instructions is giving street names that don't exist, at least in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
  19. When I log in to GEOCACHING.COM the new page i get has over lapping text and the left margin is missing causing the info at that area to be missing. The new driving isstruction site is giving street names that don't exist in my neighborhood, yes my coordinates are correct, and when trying to download caches half the time i get fatal error messages. I know it's not a "brouser issue " this time.
  20. Sportsman Warehouse is where I checked out my Csx, they even have classes on how to use it. But I purchased my Csx at WAL-MART.com, best price in the world. You can even have it shipped for free, if they send it to your local Wal-Mart store. I paid way less than $300.00. Also if you pay for it with AMEX, AMEX will double Garmin's warranty.
  21. Thank you for your answer. I hope it's as easy as it sounds. Cardinal Flyer
  22. Hi, Cardinal Flyer here, only 9 finds under my belt. I have already been denied a proposed cache site, to close to others. My question is. Is there a way to find established caches prior to trying to formally list my proposed cache site? There might be an area at the site to do this, but I'm real new to this site and still alittle confused in how to use it. Hope somebody can help direct me to the proper answer ? Thanks Cardinal Flyer
