  1. Apologies to those who did the cache today. SOmehow managed to provide the coordinates to one of my other caches (how embarrising). I'm amazed at how resourceful you guys are at solving this anyway. Needless to say the coords will be repaired in the morning. Have to add that I popped by to check everything was OK and was disappointed with the tree clearing which had taken place. What had bee a lovely area looked a little desolate. Hopefully it will look a bit better with time. Take cary yu al Mark
  2. Well done Dave, contratulations. Good luck with the next 1000. Mark
  3. I think you have all reassured me that the correct decision it to reinstate the cache, but with warnings. Thanks Mark
  4. Sure each to there own. But it is a shame when people are put off going to some areas due activities which are usually kept private. I don't think you can say that about our weird activity of caching.
  5. The cache route is all on footpaths so no debris etc. I think the activities take place more in the woods. I am more concerned about upsetting peoples sensibilities. I don't think these people are dangerous. As most say it seems like a warning on the cache page should do the trick.
  6. The cache was set up by my caching buddy Bruce (Mr Tinkerbell Hunter). He is the chap in blue top left. I (Mark - Ghostbusters) am the one beneath him and also later in the doorway (black tshirt). Our families camp at Lobb fields and we jog up from time to time to check on the cache from time to time. Thanks for sorting out the photos. We popped up at Easter to pick up but were beaten to it. I must say I'm impressed at how well they came out. Mark
  7. It is a mystery cache which involves interesting features. The 2nd feature is in the area concerned. THis is what makes archiving the cache so frustrating as it would not work anywhere else. It is quite unique in that sense which is one of the reasons it has been so popular.
  8. Tweedledum and Tweedledee are two caches I have set up in Bristol a couple of years back. These were very popular from the responses. However I was concerned at one point about some of the comments coming back from people over the suitablility of Tweedledee. It seems that although the cache is placed on footpaths etc. being a park and an extremely scenic area, the cache was placed near a gay meeting area. Whilst believing the place is safe, I understand it can be disconcerting/undesireable so I have disabled the cache for now. Now I am not sure what I should do. Should I just archive and be done with it or should I post a warning on the site. What do people think?? FYI the link to the cache is below. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...&log=y&decrypt=
  9. I accept that the cache will end up depleted and can quite understand how it happens. I find ususally the kids take the bests stuff and the things I have for replacement are not always as good. I could stop the kids doing that, but then I have worked hard enough to convince them to come along. I'm not going to start arguing with them about what they take (I do moderate a bit). My response is to make sure I have lots of decent swaps, but I can not always match the quality of what is in the cache. As a result the caches slowly get worse - thats life I'm afraid. The caches I set have always good stuff and ended up with tat. At least the kids enjoyed finding them, so I am happy. Mark
  10. Just received about a million emails. Glad to see everyone enjoyed the day. I was also impressed at the number of extra caches down both before and after the meet. I can see there is some real enthusiasm for the sport. I was a bit disappointed to find the "Englishman's home" cache hardly survived it's first night, so will think about relocating slightly. Thankfully it was in good hands and is no safely hidden again. What a hiding place though, you just need to make the cache look like a bit of rubbish in the road and then nobody can find it.
  11. Hi Klaus, as mentioned by email. I will attempt to set up an event cache over the Christmas period. (but not during the Luton game Watch this space all you Bristol and South West cachers!
