  1. We use a laptop with a wireless card. Due to my husband's profession, Verizon gave us a wireless card for free. We just had to pay for the monthly access. We use the laptop on the road a lot, not just for geocaching. It also gets left in the car, covered up when we are not using it. If you do go down that road, don't forget the car adapter power supply!
  2. having a log encrypted isn't a punishment. I was just pointing out how they seem to pick on his "revealing" logs and encrypt them to punish him for some abitrary reason, while leaving actual logs that could spoil a cache unencrypted.
  3. They've singled Gadget out. I have seen the "Don't give this one away GADGET!" jab on the cache description. In all of his logs, he is careful not to give info away. Yesterday when I was out caching, we found one of the caches by that hider. There is a clear description of an area to look that they put in the cache description and encryted. It did not specifically state the object it was near, so they didnt want it to be too easy. But this log is still there, unencrypted, and it basically gives the hide away. . If Gadget has posted that, they would have encrypted it. I have a lot of respect for Gene and how helpful he is to new cachers. I think that it is wrong they've singled him out and are punishing him for whatever misdeed they think he did. He may have shared too much info here, but I do understand how frustrating it would be in his position. I would be tempted to do the same.
  4. Vinnie probably hides the bodies when they fail to succeed at finding his Psycho Urban Caches.
  5. Pretty much anything hidden by Mr. Gadget #2 is evil. The man has a warped mind. This cache will forever be my all time favorite "evil" cache that I have found.
  6. Stealing stolen property will still get you into trouble with the police. All they would have needed to do was call the police and give them your license/info. You couldn't prove you were the owner, so you'd get busted before they would.
  7. Just move the TB along. They are not trade items, so you don't need to "trade up or trade even" like some people suggest. Also, ignore the tb hotels restrictions that require you to leave a TB before you can take a TB. Just take the ones that you can help along on their mission or relocate them to a hotel with no restrictions.
  8. Run a pocket query with the specifications that you want.
  9. Wait a week, then go back and delete it and they probably won't notice it. Or leave a note above their find, explaining that it's fake but the person won't stop logging it.
  10. travel bugs are not "trade items". You don't trade them to keep. You pick them up to move along.
  11. You DONT mail travel bugs unless you have the express permission of the owner of the travel bug. I would respond and tell her that you are not going to mail it to her, and hopefully it will make its way to that area in the future.
  12. I think it will show up once the person that has it places it in a cache.
  13. Did you notify the cache owner? Did you leave a note on the cache page, so others wont go looking for it while you have it? Is it this cache? ETA: That container says "GEOCACHE" but looks like it's hard to read. There is a photo of it in the 2nd or 3rd log on that page.
  14. I just wrote a note on a index card after I folded it in half. Then I laminated it. I put the name of the tb on the card. Another one I just wrote directly on the tb tag with permanent marker. That one doesn't have a specific goal. It said "take me anywhere!" and the name is across the top of the tag.
  15. I think I found the cacher mentioned and HOLY COW!! He sure does find a lot of caches per day! Each page is full of the caches he found in one day. I am envious that he can find that many. My highest count was 9, and that was at the beginning when Beckerbuns dragged me along the first time and I went back to sign all of the logs.
  16. I don't Vinnie's caches have people dodging cars, almost getting squished by them. Are you going to leave 1-UPs on the other side of the freeway for the cachers that might need them to get back across?
  17. You can stop trying to justify it. We can tell your mind is made up to go through with this idea. Why bother posting for feedback when you just wanted validation?
  18. On the scale of 1-Stupid, probably a 9.5. Not every idea is a good idea, even if you are the one that had the idea. Know when to accept that.
  19. Huh? What does marijuana have to do with this? Right. I don't even hear the train coming yet, much less the train wreck and resulting derailment. Let's keep it on topic. Thanks. I forgot that people won't click the article links. She died after meeting the guy to buy 3 ozs of marijuana from him. I've been following the story since it first broke. Wasn't derailing the post, but thanks for jumping to conclusions.
  20. GCXNR0 is the cache that they were looking for. That was a horrible story. I am from that area and I am so glad that Del Norte County DA will be prosecuting. The Humboldt DA rarely prosecutes marijuana related crimes.
  21. Having just done this, and am waiting on a reply... Go in with a print out of something that explains what geocaching is and how it works. Take the conatiner with you, loaded and ready to go so you can explain the log book and what it's about. On the print out make sure there is a link to this website in case they want to research on their own. Also make sure your name and phone number are listed. Let them know that you are easiy reachacble in case of problems with the cache. I went in and talked to the asst manager, gave her info and then called back a few days later and spoke to one of the managers. She said she would discuss it with the other 2 owners and would get back to me. Just be prepared. When they ask how it could help business, have an idea. If they ask how much added traffic it will bring, have some sort of number that you can give them. Sell the upsides, but don't be discouraged if they say no.
  22. LOL pot calling the kettle....? You hoard Jeeps TBs so what is the difference? If I were closer, I would take them all and release them far from your prison. Where is that get out of TB jail free tb when you need it?
  23. Wow, I would delete her logs. She's ruined a few caches that I would probably end up finding on a trip back down to CA and/or to see a family friend in that area of WA. This is a holiday weekend, so it's doubtful that you'll get a response anytime soon. The last time she logged in was 6 days ago when she logged her last finds. I hope you get this worked out.
