  1. I'm back from the East Coast. Had a great time doing various things and finding a few caches too. I dropped off 10 TBs there and brought 6 TBs back. Today I turned on my GPS and it got a bit confused. Check out the speed it recorded!
  2. Well, normally I would bother but I'm currently in Massachusetts. I've been having a great time caching my way through New Jersey, New York and the greater Boston area. I made it as far North East as this cache yesterday, a long ways from home. I'll take a look at your puzzle in a couple of days when I get back .
  3. Tsunami warning was canceled for Orange and San Diego Counties at 21:14.
  4. Yes, Geocaching with little kids is an enriching experience. On the other hand Geocachig with really old people is pure entertainment. "Little" is the key word! I have yet to meet any "big" kids that would go caching without begging or bribery. But Father's Day is coming up, so it's time to "cache" in with the big kids! TG, you haven't met my nephew. He likes to cache but doesn't get the opportunity unless I visit him or he visits me. His dad, my brother, also enjoys caching when we get together but still has yet to catch the bug enough to bother to spend some $$$ on a GPSr. My nephew keeps bugging dad for a GPSr but hasn't been sucessful yet. Anyhow, 'Big' kids that like caching do exist, although probably somewhat rare. I'm very greatful that my son (9 years old) likes to go caching with me. The two of us have found over 200 caches together which is about 40 percent of my finds and 99.5 percent of his finds (he found a cache without me and without a GPSr once when on vacation ). He now logs his finds separately from me. I hope he stays with the game for as long as I do.
  5. Grabbed a freshly minted YMS #15 (The DAK Girls) from Big Blue's Wicked Cool Cache. The card was still warm, don't think it had been too long since it had gone through the laminator. Oh...and found another really cool card in the cache too. It was a thing called "The Udesignit Travel Bug". Not sure what to make of it but I figure I'll read up on it and figure out what to do with it.
  6. TT- I checked the calendar first. It's not April 1. So...this isn't a joke. Best of luck to you. I for one will miss your puzzles, interesting hides, and fun stories. Remember, even those who retire return every once in awhile to spend some time with the poor working stiffs that were left behind. I do hope you come back to visit as I will have two puzzles coming out soon. Both with you in mind. Unfortunately, I doubt I will deploy them before you leave as much of my month will be spent in NJ and Boston, only returning slightly before you leave. I do hope that whatever GC event that is thrown for your going away wont be held until atleast the 27th.
  7. You guys drove up there at 6AM Saturday morning and still did 134 caches by ~1PM? That's incredible! Congrats to you both if you did that!!! Um, they drove up Friday, cached into the night, got up early Saturday and cached until noonish. Keep an eye out for Team Geckos big 2K. Should be soon if it hasn't already happened.
  8. They are easy to make using M$ Word. I got the idea from Team Nohoch and then made my own with a smaller label. I even made my own clock and thermomter using Paint and then imported the images into Word. Send me your email address and I'll send you the file I created if you want.
  9. Picked up a YMS #14 mis-print from Word Up! Showed it to The Dillon Gang but both of us are too burned out to help with Flagman's problem. :-)
  10. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DILLON GANG! 1000 FINDS! Cache_kid and I along with his mom and sister had the distinct pleasure of picnicing with the entire Dillon Gang this afternoon. After a nice lunch along the cliffs overlooking the ocean we walked over to the place where The Dillon Gang would log find #1000! Woo Hoo!!! Lets all give it up for The Dillon Gang!
  11. Welcome to the game! I forsee some serious travel bug mileage racking up when you folks go back and forth to the land down under.
  12. Hi Harmon, I thought it would be a great idea to post your lessons here! That way others can try them too! They are actually a lot of fun! I second that request. I'd really like some help working with Photoshop. Besides, with all the stuff you folks have been doing to my image, I need a figthing chance to reciprocate.
  13. Picked up a TT original from Local Treasure, one more still in there. I left a PQcacher card as a trade.
  14. I took a couple of the latest cards with my picture on it out of Igpay Atinlay. Still a bunch more in there along with some Pqcacher cards. I took one of those too to put in another cache. A big thanks to Flagman for all his efforts in keeping the Udesignit series of cards in production. You really are amazing!
  15. Wot, no stapler? Maybe it’s on the back side of the card. RM Maybe Flagman will do some "mis-prints".
  16. Ok, so I did an unschedule cable shield test. But, what they aren't telling you is that I was up on the same 25 foot later that Harmon had fallen from and broken his ankle. I am used to T47 staplers and this was a T25, on top of that I was using my left hand, while reaching away from me AND the lions were circling the auditorium, not to mention the impending hurricane and ....
  17. Congratulations to The Dillon Gang in making find #800, The Wizard's Chess. Definitely a memorable cache!
  18. Two of us wizards will be playing chess tomorrow. Starting early and not finishing until we finish or until our respective witches call us home. We'll be on FRS 5.5 in case you want to join the game.
  19. OK, you made it as a 13 year old. That makes me think that with a little work on my part, it shouldn't be too bad. BTW, it sure like you're all wearing cotton. Pre-gortex days, eh? As for the clothing back then. My brother on the far right was wearing a down jacket, nylon exterior, I believe I still have that one in my closet at home. I was wearing a nylon wind breaker. I couldn't believe my oldest brother was dressed in shorts and t-shirt. The two times I made the trip we started at Onion Valley and spent several days walking closer to Whitney and getting acclimated. A couple of nights we were above the tree line. After 5 days of this our bodies had adapted real well. The day we went up to the peak we started on the back side, guitar lake if I remember right. We were already up over 10,000 feet and so the final ascent wasn't bad. I can't imagine going from Whitney portal and going straight up without aclimation, although we did pass people doing just that on our way out. ClimberX noted that there is a lottery system now. My brother entered the lotto for this year, he did NOT get a permit. I think he was planning on going in with his son's boy scout troop. Aparrently when you enter the lotto system you have to identify everyone in your group up front.
  20. Um...yeah, twice, but it was a little while ago (28 years or so). First time I was 11, second time I was 13. Here is a shot of me with two of my brothers and my father when I was 13 and feeling like I was on top of the world, albeit and little cold. I'm second from the left in case you were wondering.
  21. Went hiking in MTRP today with The Dillon Gang. We managed to find 16 caches in 8.7 miles of walking. Below is the best digital image of the many I took. Views were spectacular, breezes were wonderful, flowers were gorgeous, butterflys were plenty.
  22. He probably stayed up all night until he solved it! Now that he has, any more hints for the rest of us? My teenage computer kid is as stumped as I am...... Of course, he has no clue what Chitty, Chitty Bnag, Bang is all about! Not trying to blow my own horn but this only took about 30 seconds to solve, but then again, I'm a computer geek. Flagman, feel free to call for hint if you need, since I owe you atleast a dozen.
  23. Welcome to the game and to the forum, Green Dolphin. I would say that this is not a normal forum day. There have actually been several times when noone writes to the San Diego Thread for 4+ days! This level of activity is a bit unusual but a few people have had their moments in the past. So....I'll write it so noone else has to. "Moderators, we don't need no stinkin moderators!".
  24. Sounds great devhead. It will be good to have someone in the know on using a Pocket PC. Most of us are using Palm OS. We have not picked a date yet, but will probably do it on a Thursday night in April. RM Night Hunter gets credit for teaching me and Dillon Gang how to use the Pocket PC for paperless caching. I think it only took about 50 emails back and forth. Now....what I want to learn is all this Photo Shop stuff. Anyone want to trade tutoring services?
  25. see if there was adequate volunteer help to be able to pull it off. Then there would be some real examples of the most common applications/techniques in action. Good idea. Does anyone have one of these they could bring? Depending on when and where this event takes place I hope to participate. I currently use a Dell laptop with a Verizon wireless card. I can be anywhere in the USA that has a verizon signal and get on the internet. I also use an IPAQ for paperless caching and have performed several firmware upgrades on my Rino 120 and 130. So...if this all works out (time and place) I could give 1 on 1 demos to interested people. I'm heading to Radio Shack next to get my power converter, although, I've yet to have battery problems.
