This is a fun thread to watch. Kinda makes me feel like I'm doing the route with you. I have streets and maps and I can watch the towns you stop in. Wish I could or at least afford to do my own route post and contest. Are you taking pictures along the way to post later? When does your route stop?

That brings another question to mind. If you could produce a coin based on a tv show or movie what would it be?

I was thinking that it might be a good idea to put a Geocaching Games category on the main page of the forums. That way when someone wants to have a geocointest, post a geocoin race, or any other kind of geocaching game they could place it there and it would be easy to find? Just a thought?

I was just curious about this subject? I've seen some coins that I have questioned "How did they get that made, did they get special permission?" If I ever got the money to produce one, I would like to see a coin commemorating one of my favorite new tv show "Heroes" on NBC but would I have to get permission from the show to have that done? Some of the catch phrases from the show are "Are You On The List" and "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World". If I were to put those phrases on a coin does that require special permission? I've seen coins that have the look of popular candy bars and iPods, etc. Did they require special permission to produce? Just curious?

I don't know if you can do it in wordperfect or not but what I do in my print shop program is open a new page, put a text box to cover the whole page, then copy and paste the cache title, coordinates, any description I might need with in the description of the cache and the hint. I copy and paste each little section so I don't get info off the page I don't really need. I can put several different caches on one page that way (usually 5 to 8). Oh I do change the font before I paste it to the page too in print shop.

My personal opinion is that I don't have the money to waste on buying an extra coin or sending out coins that probably will get stolen. I will either keep the coin in my collection or send out a nice picture of the coin to travel around. It would be nice if the coin companies would make an extra mock up (say plastic coin) that you could send out when you get coins made by them. I'll have to check out Crakes sight to see what you are talking about with his coins, sounds nice. I probably would consider sending out a coin that I did not particularly care for or that I just happen to get an extra one of just so people could collect the icon. I think that is really what sending out coins is really about. A lot of people enjoy collecting the icons so they can say they helped that persons coin gain miles. I have two coins right now that I plan to move on (one is a picture of a coin and the other a generic). I don't mind helping people's coins or replicas move along.

Yeah me too. If I could afford to get my own coins done I would do it. Oh well, there is an idea for someone.

I guess that is what you call it a "hologram"? You know the kind of picture you look at one way and then you look the other way and it looks like they eyes are following (for example)? Just curious?

You might want to check with your local geocaching group too to see if anyone would be willing to go with you on a trip or two and you can sit back and watch them look for and hopefully find the cache. That way you can get an idea of how people hide things too.

I love gecoins and I love to play poker (in particular Texas Holdem). In most poker games the best hand that you can get is a Royal Flush (an A, K, Q, J, 10 of the same suit). Now, if a poker game was played with geocoins instead of playing cards, what would you consider to be your Royal Flush hand to win the game. Every one has different opinions so there is no right or wrong. The coins do not have to be a part of a series either to be Your Royal Flush?
