  1. Amish Hacker does the same. If a CO has gone months without checking on their own cache from DNF's they do not need to hide one they cannot maintain. My local reviewer knows that I try my best to clean up the map form missing caches that are not ever checked on.
  2. Anyone else ticked about this one. Went out of my way (30 miles) because I thought I would have a new souvenir and did not want to miss it. Now I read they are not releasing one. How disappointed can I get not receiving an "award" in the form of a small electronic graphic that does not amount to a hill of beans. A lot I guess.
  3. When using my iPhone App I used to just save the log entry....expand on it later...and then send all at once. I don't do that anymore. I have found on multiple occasions that the logs did not upload. The worst was a 15 day find with my Father. He never really goes but this time we made a day of it. It was a real special day and I uploaded them all at once. 4 months later when I went to visit the town they live in I was surprised that NONE of the logs ever showed up. Amish Hacker
  4. I have been a bad Amish and found quite a few trackables from my previous times of caching. Now I am back on the horse I want to release in style. I am thinking about hosting a TB Party. An evening event where TB and coins can come together and get redistributed to meet their goals. Music, Contests, maybe a magic show...who knows. Is there any past events I can look at as a guide? Anyone interested if hosted in the Indianapolis IN area? AH
  5. Here is just one auction from this guy It seems from one of my other threads some people have eluded to the fact that "Flat Caches" are no longer allowed. Is this true? If it is...someone needs to tell this guy.
  6. Yep...bunch of white guys but ONLY ONE AMISH. Where are my fellow brethren? Amish Hacker
  7. I have three and I find it tough to just do some while out and about. It needs to be a planned out trip so you can spot out some in a fun park. The other day I tried one which was listed as small. I was hoping for a small tupperware with a few trades since it was in the woods. Nope just a match stick container. There are so many caches in our area it takes a bit of time to filter through them. Yes... in and out of a car seat is NO FUN.
  8. I was looking at some of the old pictures in the thread. A lot are broken images now because they did not put them on the Geocaching.com server. I found this one from Criminal posted in May of 2004. First LPC?? It made me laugh it was on a lamp post.
  9. Ok... This guy is not serious is he? Is it a joke looking for a reaction (Internet Troll). Has anyone ever seen a cache this bad in real life? or here Amish Hacker
  10. Could you e-mail the coin owner and ask them to mark it as missing?
  11. KEYSTONE!!! It's good to see you again. I like the information you are giving cachers. I know you all follow the guidelines... so I think you are doing the best thing for now. I hope this dialogue will get people thinking before posting pointless "hints"
  12. Agreed.... not the reviewer's problem. EDIT: deleted unnecessary To quote Office Space..... The reviewers should hold up the integrity of listings. I agree that cachers should be better informed and should make better choices in how they post their listings, but that is what the reviewer is there for. I also think that "It's next to the building under a log 3 feet from the door on the right" is not a hint, but I am not going that far. If anything, Groundspeak HQ should note on the submit page that if you do not have a hint do not place anything in this box.
  13. They really annoy the tar out of me. I think that a reviewer should stop this "NO HINTS" from being on the page. I know it does not happen as much these days with paperless caching, but to print it out and decode in the field just to find there is nothing there is not cool. I am still annoyed on click the hint button and these popping up. If you do not have a hint or none is needed then do not fill out the hint box. It should be assumed that if there is no hint listed there IS NO HINT. Grumply, Amish Hacker
  14. Hey Wimsey!!! Great to see you too. Dang...cache much while I was gone. 16K I took a few years off so yea....you got ahead of me. Fourms are not what they use to be either but what are ya going to do huh. I bet only a few remember what this sign is about... Yea I know... it was a younger pic of me
  15. As long their sn is on the logsheet or log book. Nothing the CO can do about it. I know a few that do it. They do it for the ET powertrail in NV. Looks like they are missing out on a lot of fun. I would never want a smile face where I had not actually been. The game has always been what you make it. There is nobody to cheat in this game except yourself.
  16. Thanks Blue. Yea I come and go. It's great to see another "old timer" on here. I miss the good ol days. I have found to many caches in my area to be blan so I am back out there. Getting ready to release 5 fun caches and 5 evil caches. I expect people to be mainly logging DNF's ..... just getting them ready. Ahhhhhhh the good ol days. I feel like I need a rocking chair, squeaky pouch, and a cane to shake at the wipper snappers. AH
  17. On of my favorite caches was located in a TINY church house. Tiny...i mean microscopic....room for 4 people. It was a payer building. It was done perfectly. The cache brought you to an interesting location. WHAT CACHING USED TO DO. You did not have to pray or say any hail Mary's. Just good location. I would love to see any tiny religion building no matter what the type of religion. AH
  18. Don't be afraid to log a DNF. It happens to the best of us. You are helping out the Cache Owner and the Cacher to follow. I know people have problems with it so just stare at the picture below. That should help. Remember, even Amish Hacker logs DNF's from time to time.
  19. Sent for the Heartland of the USA 39.767843,-86.158145
  20. Please do it. Just happy you are not putting a film canister under a lamp post skirt. I got taken by a snake can that had a loud squeeker in it. It was a blast Amish Hacker
  21. Ok... I think this is kinda what you want to do. I really want to make one like this as well. Seems like this one was approved. It is a very cool cache and hope to do it. AmishHacker
  22. Ok....real quick. I don't know if people payed attention but I admitted that the "ban" verbiage was a bit over the top as I was venting. See edit on OP. Second...the Forums seem a bit more aggressive than I remember. I guess I need to take the new forum environment into consideration before posting. In any case....thanks for all of the views. Not sure how many people need to continue to post "If you don't like them don't do them". Got it. Some people do like them...others feel the same way I do. In conclusion... my solution is to create some creative caches that I would like to find and help enhance the game for those who like them in my area. AmishHacker
  23. Yep...I agree. Actually, I thought the original post was a bit trollish. The damage to private property assertion is ridiculous. You are not damaging private property by moving a cowling that is designed to be lifted, unless you are lifting it with your car. The private property assertion has merit. Actually, the private property issue is interesting. We just take the CO word they have permission, as we wander round looking for caches. In some areas, that could be a big problem if permission has not actually given, and you wander into an illegal farm for example, looking for that prized ammo box. Maybe a solution is that if a cache is placed on private property the CO should be required to state in the cache description when and who gave permission. In the case of question when out looking, the seeker could say, "Permission was given on (Date) by (name of property owner). That might prevent some unpleasant conflicts, and give seekers a peace of mind. Did not mean to be a troll The comment about damage is not ridiculous. I was referring to a cache that was placed under a skirt that was a very tight fit. Sure it might be designed to be lifted up....but not hundreds of times....and in the case I was talking about it WAS damaging the post. How many cachers are going to hunt a cache and be a couple feet away and than decided to just not log it. I understand...I am a big boy....I can just not hunt them. I just do not want to see the sport over ran with them. Not saying they are now....plenty of other caches. Just opening a discussion that some people are obviously have strong opinions about. Thanks again to everyone for posting. It is fun to learn other peoples opinions. AmishHacker
