  1. Does the "Retrieve Activation Code" page work for you? http://www.geocaching.com/track/ActivationCodeRetrieve.aspx NO unfortunately not.. I don't have any sort of code but know that it is trackable. I may have gotten some sort of code with the coin but have since misplaced it
  2. HI everyone, I have a few of the "let is snow" geocoins from hog wild. It was the stain glass window with the spinner snowflake. It has been so long that now he is out of business but I never activated the coins. I don't know how to do it since there is no code on coin. Can anyone help me with that? I sure would appreciate it.. Thanks Roboknight
  3. Well, you have to find a place that will make them (not hard, there are a few... we haven't had one made in a while, so I won't post any names here, but others I'm sure will). Then, typically you have to send them some kind of design. We always had ours done by this Artist from Canada. He has done several. But it isn't absolutely necessary. It does make it simpler to deal with. Especially if you've got a complicated design (we had a haunted house one year with a bat that we had to attach to each and every coin). I don't know if path tags are still popular, but I think they may be cheaper, so you could add them to caches. Of course there are people that do wooden nickels and other signature items that are inexpensive. It used to cost anywhere from $800-$1500 for a run of 150 to 200 coins. They can be much cheaper if the design is simple. I've seen a lot of great designs that probably didn't cost that much, but there are definitely more expensive designs. Plus you can get all kinds of options on them.. So it probably would help to start by throwing your idea out there. People could probably direct you to various places for the different steps to getting it made. Of course, if you just need a few, there are places that will do that too. It costs a bit more per coin, but it won't cost you as much as 150-200 coins would. I don't know how many places make only one, but there may even be some that do that. Team Roboknight.
  4. Hi, no art work as of yet.. Ideas but still waiting for the artist to finish his drawing.. Will reveal once we have it in hand.. Thanks
  5. Hi Everyone, We have a Halloween Geocoin in the works. This will be the 3rd in the series of Team Roboknight Halloween Geocoins. The first one was the Moonlight Geocaching coin the second was the Monster Cache Geocoin. We just wanted to check if there was still an interest in Halloween Geocoins. It should be a pretty cool coin.. Let me know what you all think.. THEME: Pirate haunted ship ( all kinds of fun effects to it) Thanks Team Roboknight
  6. Any new coins in the works? Would love to have a few more..
  7. Those are awesome.. Cant wait to see more pictures!!
  8. Well, that is what licensing is all about: limited ownership. When you bought the GPS, you paid for the hardware and a license (or two in Garmin's case). Whether its right, or "it sucks", or its wrong doesn't matter. That's what they sell, and that's what you bought. As far as Garmwhacker... it doesn't exist. At least not anywhere I've seen (I checked before posting, just to make sure). Of course that doesn't mean it can't be cracked, because I know it has been. As far as ownership of data goes: fight back. Navteq and Tele Atlas don't have a lock on making data sets, so start an open source data collection project to build a set of open source Garmin maps. The information on the data format is out there. Or better yet, find an existing one and contribute. They are doing that in New Zealand. Someone bought the Navteq data initially (older data set) and they continually update it. With enough contributors (and there could be many if just geocachers contributed, but of course we wouldn't be the only ones), the maps could possibly be made much more accurate than even Navteq (now Nokia) or Tele Atlas (most likely now TomTom) can produce with the fancy equipment with several people averaging co-ordinates until the results were quite accurate. Besides, the data could potentially be corrected far more often. No more of this, "Hey, this isn't Main St!" because the roads haven't been changed in the latest updates yet (and yes, this happens frequently to me... well, I see several errors on the US East Coast because they constantly move roads and develop new ones here... probably because the roads are all screwed up to begin with, but that's another matter). If you really want to own something, take responsibility for its creation and no one can deny your right to use it any way you wish. Having said all of this, I know there is already an open mapping project. Check out: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/OSM_Map_On_Garmin So get started and contribute to it. Make it worth using. Besides, with only two companies actively compiling map data (the only two I know really doing the heavy lifting on map data was navteq and Tele Atlas, suppliers for most of the GPS world), they don't have to be too competitive. And with Tele Atlas possibly being bought by TomTom, Navteq (Now under Nokia) can charge all outdoors to Garmin & Magellan both, which likely won't make your GPS maps any cheaper in the future (unless you maybe have a TomTom).
  9. Hi everyone, The last of the coins are going up on the trading list. If you have not purchased one and would like one do so now.. These are all we have left . The second minting was of 50 so total we have of the coins was 150. The second shippment will be in first week of november and after assebled will be shipped.. Thanks so much to everyone who purchased one!! Team Roboknight
  10. Hello everyone, Our event is drawing near. After the event I will be better able to tell how many coins I will have left. Many have already ordered for the second shipment that is due sometime begining November. So what coins I will have left I will post on the trading list. Thanks so much.. I hope those of you who have already recieved your coins from the first batch liked the way they turned out. The detail is just great!! Thanks Team Roboknight
  11. I have a few games planned for our event but wanted to get a few more ideas for games.. Any help sure would be appreciated!! Thanks
  12. Didn't know this was a real problem. That is pretty bad when someone picks something like that out of a cache and resells it, or even if they acquire it another way. Similar to a regular TB we had. Someone liked the toy we put on it so much they took the tag off and just left it, but took the toy. At least they wrote it in the log, but geez. Anyway, I didn't realize that activated coins were sold on e-bay on a regular basis. Hope the auctions at least mention that they are already activated.
  13. CORRECTION on the coin: We did go with the 1.75 for the size of the coin!! I was inccorect with my first assumption.. We are ordering another 50 to make the total number of coins minted at 150.. This will be the last minting. Those who e-mailed with orders I will e-mail you shortly . If you have not placed an order watch the website mentioned the remainder will be sold there. Thanks again for all the orders.!! Cant wait to see them myself! Robomaiden
  14. Yikes, I wish I'd read this post before ordering a coin.... I didn't notice how small it was going to be. Will the details be lost in the tiny size? Won't the bat just break off? And why's it so expensive to ship 1 coin? My 4 coin order to Karma was cheaper to ship. Sorry for bitching but I guess I'm mad at myself for buying first and reading the full description later. Hi, The bat will not break off its on a seperate wire attached to the coin. So it cant breakoff. Its also made of coin material so the bat itself will not break. No worries
  15. The coin at the moment is sold out. I have some set aside for my event but if you would like to be added to a list for the coin.. Just send me an e-mail Will see if maybe i could mint 25 more if I have enough bites that would be the last. Thanks
  16. Just added the last 10 I have left the rest are selling at our event. Thanks to everyone who purchased a coin!
  17. Hi, you are correct it does not have its own icon.. Thanks
  18. Hi, Yes we had a moonlight caching geocoin for last halloween.. Its on our website if you want to take a look..last years halloween geocoin
  19. This coin was produced for the second Team Roboknight Halloween event. Along with the theme for the event we produce a matching coin. The haunted house has many areas that are glow in the dark from the gps the various monsters are holding to the glowing eyes of the extremely large owl on the back.. SPOOKY coin Notice the icon on one of the tomb stones on the back of the coin its the Roboknight Mystery Geocoin icon we had to add that to the coin somewhere. The special feature this year is the bat that will be attached to the tree with wire and dangle from the branch. Here are the specs: 1.5 Diameter Coin (double checking with minter) 3.5 mm Thickness laser engraving Glow in the dark areas all over the coin Hanging bat on the tree Only 100 were minted Trackable at gc.com The coin cost 11.50 due to the extra feature of the bat made seperately and added to the coin. The coin should be arriving end of next week and I will ship them as soon as they arrive.. Dont miss out!!! Purchase coin here
