  1. Welcome to my world....at least for several days of it anyway. I had a Storm I that would work on all geocaching.com web pages and then had to turn it in for replacement. The new one did not work on all pages for awhile and then "suddenly" started working with no known changes from me. I let it go and did not give it much thought. After several months my Storm I gave me some trouble with an unrelated issue and I went into Verizon for a replacement which was the Storm II. As you can imagine, I was pretty excited to get the new phone...loved it....UNTIL....I COULD NOT OPEN UP MANY OF THE GC WEB PAGES. I was ticked. After HOURS with Verizon and then HOURS with RIM, I was told that there was/is no fix. Well, it was time to return the dang "latest and greatest" phone. A quick jaunt down to my local Verizon store got me face to face with my friend who manages it who used to be the data rep for the store. He takes the phone and says "try this"......viola, instant fix. I coulda kissed the guy. Here you go: Browser>menu>options>browser configurations>uncheck Support JavaScript. It's that easy. I've found no lack of usability of the browser or phone with JavaScript unchecked. I do have the option below Support JavaScript, (Prompt to enable JavaScript) checked. I've had the Storm II since November and love it.... Happy browsing. Thanks so much for the tip. Spent a couple of days searching for this solution and now am off and running again. Downloaded the Opera Mini but found it disabled my application switcher. This was no good since I have CacheBerry, too. Off comes the Opera now that the standard browser in back in action. Again, thanks for taking the pain for my gain...and sharing the fix, too!
  2. As some others have mentioned, I am using E-books to get PQ info into my BB 7520. I also have a version of EOffice on the device which I use to log the finds. When I know I know I will be in a service area for the BB, I would simply log the caches on the fly. However, we travel to many areas that no service is available and this was the best solution I could find. I would certainly purchase a version of CacheMate that could be used with the BB, if it were available. I enjoyed the functionalityof it on my Prism PDA when first going paperless. I tried this e-books/EOffice method on our last trip to SW Virginia and logging them into GC.com after returning home was a breeze. It was great to not have to remember each cache in detail. Next best thing to CacheMate. The E-books for BB is available from the site link provided in the PQ result e-mail. I also installed this on my wife's Pocket PC but she wass happier with the Palm OS applications. Looking into going back to that for her. I have not tried the GPS function of the BB for caching as I found the accuracy not to be as good as my 60CS, so I won't be going that route any time soon. Good hunting BB users!
  3. I am a BlackBerry user and am wondering if there is a way to use GSAK with this device? When I have no service, it would be great to have the GSAK database available and be able to leave the PDA behind. Carrying too many devices is a pain in the woods and some of the other tight spots geocaching leads me to explore. Thanks for your help and a great product.
  4. Don't forget that if you have a laptop, the cable will let you connect your Legend to it and , with the mapping software, use the laptop as a large display driving GPS. Then you have the great detail of the larger map program without having to load your Legend with it. Use it for caching street navigation all the time.
  5. To all responders: Thanks for the info! I found the problem while trying to install a data packet program for my Nextel phone in preparation for our CO trip. As you tell by the logs, I got it working by the helps published with the packet program, at least for the laptop, anyway. ActiveSync was the problem program. However, DaisyChain's desktop still has Coms 1,2, & 4 tied up and I can;t find what has 1 tied up. Any more clues? Thanks.
  6. Has anyone else in the world had problems getting the serial port to open using com 1? Both EasyGPS and the Garmin map software seem unable to accomplish this task even after changing the com from 1 to 3. Can't do that in the EasyGPS settings. Bad cable, connections, PC settings, what? About to pack it all up and ship it back to Garmin. Thanks.
