  1. I would email the cache owner and the Travelbug owner. Have you tracked the travelbug for movement to a new cache??
  2. I saw this in October when in Tahoe and got snowbound so couldn't go for it. At Caching around the Christmas tree Event Snoogans indicated a soon to be released cache of this type he was setting up.
  3. Picked up the travelbug, dropped in another cache. A-ok now! Also talked to the cache owners, they have had several caches plundered. They indicated they have been sick, so just archived to get it out of the active lists. They have been too sick to check it out. All is now well. Thanks to all.
  4. Seems kinda fishy posting to a dead cache, but I am glad I was able to log the find. Maybe they could re-issue the cache as a #2 or something as the cache was actually there. It was actually a very clever hide!!!!
  5. But that is one of the things I do not understand. How could I post to a closed cache???
  6. Please forgive me. I carry a sheet with a name and co-ords only in the truck and read the coords off another cache and mixed them up. Thanks for the help.
  7. Thanks to all for the input!! I know I ranted a little bit, but I feel a responsibility to the owners of the travelbugs I move and kinda freaked out when I saw the cache disabled. Once again, thanks for the help!!!!
  8. What really baffles me is my ability to log this find on a disabled cache. Is that normal?????
  9. You have to give me a minute. I will be back.
  10. Green Smirks. N38 39.985 W 121 19.013. The owners have several caches inthe area and seem stand up.
  11. Came home tonight to log a cache whose coordinates I have been carrying around for a couple weeks. I found the cache, dropped in a travelbug, and signed the log! When I pulled the cache up, it had been disabled as missing. I have emailed the owners letting them know it is still here and I found it, but am worried about the travelbug entrusted to me. There was two entries of DNF but don't think the owner actually checked the cache before retiring it. PLEASE physically check a cache before disabling or archiving. PLEASE check a cache if two or more DNF's. I will be going back to pick up the Travelbug at sunrise for I feel responsible for it's safety. And yes I could have verified the cache was current, but remember that I actually found the cache. Thanks to all for your help and understanding. By the way, the date this was recorded as dead and gone was 6 days ago.
  12. I visited Texas last week and joined the Houston area cachers for their Christmas bash. I met PARKERPLUS who is quite infamous for his unique placements and uses an entire variety of items as these including: the rocks, a skull, a plastic fireanthill cache, and even a plastic dog turd as a cache! Quite ingenious with a twisted side.
  13. I just want you to know I can feel your pain. 7 years ago a drunk driver ran a stop sign and hit me. L5/S1, T8/9, L2/3 all damaged. 14 doctors said I would never walk again. The 15th said he could help. I am now walking, working, fishing, backpacking, and caching. Please keep the faith. You can overcome. Rick
  14. I was wondering how many of our fine elected officials are out there? If you don't want to post it to the general forum, how about an email to Jeremy or the admin? It would be nice for the admin to have a list for contacting and to be represented by elected officials. Congressmen, senators, park system administrators. Anybody else agree????
  15. My boss always gives out booze. He likes happy employees!!!! Merry Christmas to all!!!
  16. Got a minimag flashlight kit, a Baileys irish cream gift set from the boss which is inside the coolest metal treasure chest style box (soon to be a cache). Also a new Silverado pickup!!!!
  17. Hey Snoog!! I did not forget. In fact Ware-where and the Dude gave me the idea to sponsor a couple Bugs for my young pioneers!! I just really applaud and encourage the use of Travelbugs in education. These are the cachers of tomorow. Besides, how can we cachers rule the world without expanding our numbers????? P.S. What do you think of my new Avatar???
  18. Please forgive me if I offended someone in a recent post. No harm was intended at all. Just passing along something I saw in a cache. I think I'll just stick to real world caching.
  19. Way cool! Two high fives and three attaboys for the intro to the young recruits!! I take two 4th grade classes on a pioneer camping trip each year. I am going to sponsor a Bug for each class for mostmiles/most caches by the trips in May. Possibly carry them on till 6th grade graduation. Just a friendly competition to introduce them to the sport.
  20. Parking coordinates are GREAT, and very few are given. To have more would be fantastic, but only if they dont put you right on top of the cache. Or if the nature of the cache is a drive-up snatch and run.
  21. Just added my info. Way cool site but do you realize the enormity of the task you have started?????? We cachers are multiplying at an alarming rate and could soon RULE THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!
  22. Jamie z: A high five and three attaboys for your excellent explanation in laymans terms. You beat me to the punch, but I could not have done better!!!
  23. I agree GPS would do no harm on a flight. But Southwest has no-no'd me several times. I took the company jet last January and it was way cool watching high speeds and tracking for long distance. Did not have to reorient the unit. It tracked the whole way.
  24. Just finished it. It reads kind of like a multi-cache. Brings you to a new spot only to be sent to another. Puts a new spin on things and really gets you thinking.
