  1. Not a bad idea. We'll be camped on the shore of a lake. You could even put Can Soups that you like in Zip Loc's & heat the same way. Be more light weigh packing the trash out. Just place them in Lock n Locks so not to get holes poked in them before you get to heat them up. If you have something as far as Left Over you have cooked at home. Place in Zip Loc's & freeze them. Heat them up for your dinner on your first nite as they should be thawed by the end of the day.
  2. We got a Event coming up on the 26th right over the river from Evansville. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...67-ae934500289f Plus, If you Facebook you can find our Club/Group there at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=1241...&ref=search & I'm a bit older (53) lol
  3. Take a look at this Event & you you have plans to be in the area. Put in your Will Attend, How many in your Party & what you bringing. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...67-ae934500289f
  4. This is just over the river from Evansville,In. & Thought we would post this here to let folks know. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...67-ae934500289f
  5. Any Cheap 7x7 dome tent will work for as far as a light weigh easy set up & tear down. You don't even have to stake it down & if's it's not raining, No need to get the Rain fly out either. You can go to sleep looking up at the moon & star's. In the morning. Just leave the door unzipped, Pick up the tent & shake it out. Set up can be done in less than 3 minutes & tear down can be less than that.
  6. If you have a lake near by & if you pack a pon or pan big enough. Why not get water from the lake & boil that & then throw these Bag foods into it to heat up?? Then you won't have to worry so much about the Plastic in there is any in the bag's. Plus, The water will be boiled to use to wash off your body if you have sweated some during your hike. Just my 2 cents.

  8. If we all did this, Then whats the point of owning a GPSr, Much less being a PM on geocaching. There would be no more caches to find. I'm sure we all have gone thru this one time or another & maybe not thinking it was vandalized?? Just my 3 cents
  9. Baby never placed a DNF log, So no matter what they think or say about the cache or it's placement, They have No Case!!! Been there, Done That!! Congrat's on the FTF!! Plus, Good work IWC ,,, ^5
  10. Hat's off to you IWC & a Big High 5. We got a Tank Cache up here that hasn't been found since it was Published back 7/31 & it a simple find we think. Plus we got a cache on a Caboose in downtown Henderson which was published about 2 weeks now & not a single log or note yet,,lol We hope we can get our own forum from it too,,lol Just Kidding. We love seeing people finding our caches. We didn't add no hints to the Tank or the Caboose & have no plans to add any either. I tell ya, Just looking at the pictures on the cache listing, there is no way we're coming down there to hunt for this cache even for Steak for the rest of our lifes. We'll pass on it right now. But we going to put this puppie on our watch list,,hehehehehe ^5 again Brother & GL to all the cachers who dare to hunt it. PS, We got a Nite Cache to that has only been found once too & that was over 9 months ago. We believe cachers up here are scared of the dark,,lmao
  11. For something that hooks up to a computer by Serial Port (That you don't find on computers no more) No Thanks, But Good Luck selling it.
  12. The very short time we have had our Nuvi 205 I have learned alot & with the help here & a local friend. I have been deleting the caches on our's by connecting the Nuvi to the computer. Going in the POILoader & while going thru like going to load it with caches, I check the box to "Remove all previously installed custom POI's from your device" & click next & so on. They all will be removed & then I going in my GSAK & reload it with caches we want. Sure would be nice to be able to delete the caches as they are found from the unit it's on the Touch Screen, But I guess got to spend more $$ for that,,,lol
  13. We just bought one for $80 from Local selling from a cheapcycle group. We're very happy with our's. We have 3 handhelds so no plans to use the Nuvi for on the trail hunts. Just to get us to the parking area/s is what it will be used for in geocaching.
  14. We want to Thank everyone that helped out here with our new Nuvi. I got many caches loaded to it & now comes get out & seeing how well it will lead us to the parking or near by parking areas where caches are hid near by. Now, Just learning how to delete some of the unwanted caches in the unit that was loaded without thinking,,,lol
  15. Well, I did go in my Control Panel & in the add/remove programs, there are 2 POI Loaders. One of them was installed yesterday ( it's the 2.5.2 POI Loader) & the other is from back in Jan. of this year. I'm just scared if I mess up that I might not be able to load my 60CSx no more from my GSAK. I want to be able to Load both (Nuvi 205 & 60CSx) from my Lap Top.
  16. You can load 10's of thousands, probably 100's of thousands of caches on the nuvi. I have over 3000 on mine right now (I have a 255w but the 205 can do the same). Yes you use GSAK and a macro to get them on there. Yes you can manually put the coordinates into the 205. There is one almighty website that you must see - http://geocaching.totaltechworld.com/index.html This website will explain how to load caches onto your nuvi and how to use it most effectively (which settings to use) for geocaching. The nuvi is great for geocaching (very accurate, easy to load caches onto) but has a few drawbacks. 1. it is not waterproof/shockproof 2. it does not have a lanyard on it to put around your wrist/neck (though I attached one to mine) 3. it only has a 4-5 hour battery life (though you can buy adapters that take AA's making the battery life unlimited) Also, if you are getting the NON-widescreen version (the 205 as opposed to the 205w), it will have one small difference in the geocaching context - you won't be able to see your current gps position in REAL time, you have to push a button to update it - so you'll push the button once you get close, move a few feet, push it again, etc. With the nuvi 200 series Widescreen versions, you can see it in real time - it updates automatically as you move. This isn't really a big deal though and there are plenty of geocachers out there that use a 205. good luck! Well, We got the Nuvi & we love what we saw so far with it. But I clicked the link you posted above & was trying to load it all the way it said. But I get a error when I try loading a cache to the Nuvi. Say's I have 2 POILoader & I need to delete one of them??? I went & try to find the loader I need to delete, but didn't find it & really not sure where to look for it??
  17. The usb cable WILL charge your usb, but some will actually put it into computer mode (where you can transfer stuff over from your computer) and some will just put it into charge mode. If it puts it into computer mode and you just want charge mode, there's a way to do it. I don't feel like typing it out right now, but if that's the case, let me know and I'll explain it. I'm not wanting to use the USB cords to charge the Nuvi. I'm wanting to just send cache info to the Nuvi using the USB cords I use with our 60CSx.
  18. Ok, Now I'm confused?? You say "Yes I can" & then "It might not work, it will not harm"?? Is this a guess answer or you know for sure??? lol
  19. Can I use the same USB cord that I use to load info to my GPSMAP 60CSx on the Nuvi 205?? I just don't want to buy another cord that I might have already to load stuff to the Nuvi 205, Plus, I don't want to mess up the Nuvi if I can't use the same cord on both?
  20. Thx's kallt kaffe, I was just looking at the link that shows me how to set up & load from GSAK to the Nuvi, O'Boy, New learning,,lol I just hope doing them changes to my GSAK won't stop me from loading our H's or the 60CSx?? Now I went & looked at your link about the vehicle?? Now I'm really getting comfused,,lol I guess I'll see how it all goes when I go get it. Plus, New Question. I saw someone say about paperless?? Will this Nuvi 205 hold the info on a cache in it too?? Will I need another program/software to do this??
  21. Thx's to you to hoyshnin for some Great info & link (I'll check it out in a bit. I saw on the Garmin site that the Nuvi 205 (it's not the W either) goes for $159.99 & we're getting this one for $80. It's brand new & only time it was taken out the box was to take Pictures of it all for them to e mail me pic's. Waiting on the call now to where to go meet them to pick it up. I'm doing this local here as I don't do EBay.
  22. Thx's johnny2154, That's kind of what I was wanting to know. We have 3 handheld GPSr's , 2 eTrex H's & 1 GPSMAP 60CSx (The H's are alot better than the high priced one, But thats a diff. subject,,lol) We just looking to buy the Nuvi to use it for what it's for & for Caching. To get to the parking area as you said sound good to us. We hope in the Preloaded POI's that Cemeteries are loaded in it too. We do the "Find a Grave" thing too. Thx's again.
  23. We got a Etrex H that started doing this. If the unit is off for some time the rubber seems fine, But give it a few minutes after you turn it on & seems like the glue comes undone & the rubber feels soft. We figured it some heating up or something causing this?? But it didn't feel hot or warm to that fact?
