  1. I have been Geocaching for about 4 years now. I consider my self a Caver as well. The other day on a caving discussion board a caver asked the question What's the thrill?( in reference to Why do you Geocache ) I tried my best to explain why I Geocache. Perhaps if a few of you have time you could do a better job at explaining "What the thill is"? Here is the thread http://nssmembersforum.proboards28.com/ind...49086978&page=1 Thanks
  2. I would rather have a good physical challenge than a puzzle any day. If I see a puzzle cache in my area, I will usally just move on the next cache as I like to Geocache and I don't have time for puzzles.
  3. I know just which cache you are talking about. I would leave it just the way it is. That's what a difficult find is supposed to be. DIFICULT. Anyway I am sort of trying to find it right now and it wouldn't be fair if others got clues.
  4. just thought I would chime in. I recently have had a loss. our son was still born just a few months ago. We had to place his body in a cemetery up in the hills. Even after going through such an event I still see nothing wrong with caches being placed at a Cemetery. I have not placed any myself, but would like to do so if the right situation presents itself and it could be done respectfully.
  5. The more difficult the terrain the better. A 5/5 cache is a challenge, and there is quite a feeling of acomplishment. I like to post difficult caches to see who can get to them. Cavesr4all.com
  6. As one of those involved in this adventure I would like to add just a few things. (Talk about being behind the times, I just now found this thread.) I think some of you have hit the nail right on the head. It was an unfortunate incident that just happens some times and it wasn't handled very well ( period ). Things happen. I would like to throw a new monkey in the wrench for those of you who think that helping to haul all that equipment up the hill doesn't mean you should be able to log that cache as a find. I helped haul the rope up the hill and made the first rappel in search of the cache. I located the cache and opened it. I did not feel comfortable enough to sign the log book while I was hanging 80 feet above the ground. I hiked back up to the rest of the group and reported finding the cache. I have left my log on the cache page and reported the circumstances to the cache owner. I will let him decide if it should stay on the cache page as a find or not. What do you think? What level of involvement is necessary in order to be able to log the cache? Should everybody have been able to leave their finds on the cache page? Should I delete mine? COLORADO CAVE LOCATIONS Edited for spelling
  7. Sounds like a cave to me. I have several caches placed in caves in the Colorado. I don't see how an approver could turn you down if the hole was allready there. Some of the caches I find now days have so much stuff (branches and things)placed over them, that they should be called buried! COLORADO CAVE LOCATIONS
  8. I like the Idea, don't know if it will catch on but it should. I will help spread the word. CAVESR4ALL
  9. RK, I will go back and try making the adjustments. Thanks, Colorado Cave locations Dan
  10. RK, Wow, that was fast. I am still fighting with it. I even tried changing my web page to something else, and the change takes effect on my profile, but still nothing is displayed on my posts. When you get a chance, let me know what UBB is. Colorado Cave locations Thanks, Dan
  11. Today I changed my signiture. I updated the information in the forums and when I went to make another post I noticed my signiture had changed like it should have. Now the link to my web page is gone. I repeated this procedure a few times, but I still could not get it to display. On my profile the URL for my web page is still there. any Ideas? Thanks, Dan

  13. Colorado cave locations What happened to my link
  14. Living in Colorado, you need to have all your bases covered. If you are Geocaching in town then some good shoes are all you really need. If the cache you are looking to get is in the hills, that's something compleatly different. The weather is very unpredictable and you want to be ready for every thing. Many of the caches I have placed are inside caves. I wear coveralls when checking on those caches.
  15. Flashlights, and Knifes All right I know you shouldn't place Knifes inside caches........ Maybe just Flashlights. I try to place one in every new cache I out out there.
  16. I have to beat this horse again. After all what's this topic about........( Dead horses ) I have to cast another vote for caches being placed in caves. Deja vu
  17. My favorite Dead horse is the Geocaching in caves topic.
  18. I have 2. I use an old Magellan color track that's mounted in the car, because it will only get you two within 52 feet of the cache. Then when I go out on foot I use an e-trex, because it works great. The only thing I don't like about that set up is having to program 2 sets of coordinates.
  19. Every thing I have typed has been cut and then typed again. It all seems so unimportant next to such a loss. I'll just go ahead and spit it out. It's a big loss. It seems he always seemed to get to caches right before me. I think he stoped at every cache I had ever placed. I will miss Bill and his logs.
  20. I have a few caches in the city, and I only stop by to do maintenence if someone suggests there might be a problem with them. Or if it's been 3 or 4 months. Many of my caches are much more remote, so they get maintenence every year or so. Or if there's a problem.
