  1. all the time, is my "home" page i don't mind the list at all, i would prefer as i said in the release notes thread if it was just one cache showing as a reminder that the feature its there and OMG at those complaining about having to scroll...scrolling is hard labor
  2. well you do, after you submitted your log there is an option to "upload photo"...no need to return and "edit"
  3. bare in mind that your GPS will be useless in the city in between all them skyscrapers pick caches in parks and nice open areas unobstructed by buildings
  4. The Geopt.org site itself seems to have a lot of geocaching information on it but is in Portuguese or something? Don't click on the logo on this forum. Click at the link on the first posting (The Geocaching.com site update 1/17/2012) and scroll down to that tool and click on that. It will take you to the main page. The OP linked the logo when it was in Portugal site. i have no idea how the logo on the first post doesn't work for you or what form you're referring to but it works fine for me i see it in english and the download doesn't need me filling any forms
  5. you're mixing apples and oranges, i.e. that's two unrelated things the GC codes are displayed in the list of last viewed caches having the GC codes display for logs has nothing to do with last viewed caches list I don't want to start an argument over semantics, but yes they are related. They are both ostensibly used for submitting your next log. The recently viewed caches list has the "log it" link and the log confirmation page has the input box for a GC code at the bottom of the page. The GC code on the recently viewed list will make it easy to match to the calendar on my 60csx while I was lamenting that the confirmation page had no such code. your GPS doesn't support field notes?
  6. you're mixing apples and oranges, i.e. that's two unrelated things the GC codes are displayed in the list of last viewed caches having the GC codes display for logs has nothing to do with last viewed caches list
  7. i posted the link in the other thread but i guess you chose to ignore it i do agree with Avernar, PT are about quantity over quality
  8. the gallery are pictures you posted to caches, i am not aware of how you would post into gallery directly you need to go to the cache you posted the picture to you can't delete from the gallery once you found the log with the picture, click on edit, then on the trash can icon in the upper right corner.
  9. not at all..."newest" doesn't necessarily mean unfound
  10. you only need to add your state and country, not full mailing address
  11. just out of curiosity and if you care to share, what issue is that?...i see you logged finds a couple of days ago personally i would think that if someone had issues from their activities being visible to others first thing they would have done was to stop logging accounts don't get deleted, you can just stop logging in i would think contact@geocaching.com for your PM
  12. Is there a way to turn this off, please? I would much rather see our current log activity at the top of the page. Thank you, Mrs. Car54 Yes, I too would like the ability to turn this new "feature" off. You guys do realize it is only the latest 5 caches that are displayed here right? It is only on the detailed view that 50 are shown. We can look into adding the ability to minimize those lists if it becomes a real issue. well the original announcement didn't say that, sounded more like 50 caches will show up all at once in that case, i don't mind the placement at all
  13. Is there a way to turn this off, please? I would much rather see our current log activity at the top of the page. Thank you, Mrs. Car54 I am agreeing with this request. I really do like the feature, just not the placement. Perhaps a tabbed interface would make everybody happy? i wouldn't mind the placement if it only showed the last cache i looked at, as a reminder that the feature is there, and by clicking on the "view all" would take me to the full list as it is now once i looked at 50 caches that section is going to take over my profile page
  14. thanks both well judging from the price of the yearly license, i am not surprised at the decision to replace them
  15. would you have preferred the nice swag-size, watertight container hidden up in a hole in a tree with a big pile of poop on it? i'll take the moldy container, please what was that about not needing geocaching if all you want to do is hike/walk to a certain place?
  16. Google Maps to charge for usage only a rumor it seems
  17. please explain how is it having separate account "keeping with the geocaching game" its geocaching not splitpersonalitycaching
  18. I disagree. If Geocaching isn't social activity, than I don't know what is. I was not talking about Facebook-like "wall" of activity, but rather about list of recent friends' geocaching activity. So which caches were found/not found/hidden by your friends. That would make use of this site more fun. like Larry said, geocaching is not necessarily a social activity some people want their whole activities hidden i do not use FB but it is my understanding that there is a way of "connecting" your geocaching activities to your FB account and broadcasting your activities And what is better way to help you find a great cache, than showing you list of the ones that are recently found by your GC friends? This feature already exist, only you are stuck with manually checking each friend, instead of showing it all in one place. I was obviously misunderstood. I am not requesting classic social features (like chat, status updates etc.). I agree this should be left for Facebook and similar websites. However aggregating some data in relation to users that you are connected (friended) to is obviously a great and useful feature. It is also becoming a standard for on-line portals like this one. its not hard labor to check each one, besides i have a really hard time imagining how that page will look when you have say 10 friends, i can only imagine clutter there's plenty of other ways to keep track of their moves so because you can't click a couple of links to see your friends activities i should be deprived of the ability to add friends? the "add a friend" is useful because instead of searching for a user they are right there in your "friends" list
  19. maybe the BETA map will show the cache list on the right, after over a year of being beta
  20. i don't think this has been mentioned, canoe mini powertrail http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC2E9WV
  21. Wondering why you decided to comment on a 1 year old dormant thread? There are power trails throughout the Province now. Pretty much all the rail trails are now power trails. because the London Loop did not exist last year?
  22. Completely untrue on so many levels. No one person or group is to blame. That is for the local authorities to determine. There IS a geocaching culture problem and it may have directly led to Willimax's death. You can CHOOSE not to see it, but that does not mean it doesn't exist. so if i somehow i manage to dodge the authorities and put a cache at the bottom of Niagara Falls and the only way down there is to "ride" the falls, and others have done it successfully but one person decides to go for it and gets killed someone else is to blame? In civil court, disclaimers do not protect a person or entity who is found to have committed gross negligence. Generally, that's the first motion to be filed. If the lawyer can get the judge to agree that deleting a NA which was posted on an illegal hide constitutes gross neglect, then whoever deleted it no longer has that blanket protection. you mean that for example if the sign says "trail not maintained, hike at your own risk" means that if i fall in a crevice and die i can still sue them, correct? a disclaimer may or may not be valid, it highly depends on the case the most important aspect is what state law does Groundspeak falls under, i don't see how they can be held responsible in another country under different laws.
  23. it shows as being in your hands, you should also see it in your inventory
  24. You are correct. In a lawsuit everything is discoverable including forum threads, emails, and even hand written notes. I don't know if anyone else has noticed that this thread is being groomed, but I have known for awhile. The two posts of mine that were deleted (that I know of) contained nothing at all. I had moved the info to the top of the next page to keep it current and not buried a page behind the pace of the discussion. If a lawsuit were to come from this incident Groundspeak would have some 'splainin to do. It all comes down to who knew what and when to determine neglect or willful neglect. If that cache is indeed illegal locally, or at least outside of listing guidelines, and someone gets killed there, I would think it would be a slam dunk Groundspeak disclaimer or not given the monitored and quietly groomed discussion on the topic. But again, it's Germany. I have no idea how the legal system operates there. i think grounspeak has pretty much covered their rear end in the TOU Harry Dolphin got it right, i stopped following this thread a while ago but its amazing to to me that its still going and that it took this long to conclude what i have said many posts ago....as sad as the whole story is, Willi was the only one that could have prevented this tragic accident, people should stop trying to blame someone else for their own lack of judgement
