  1. I know, don't quit my day job. But, maybe Garmin is watching.
  2. My backyard this morning. The yard Gnome looks pretty lonely.
  3. Here in RAINmond...I mean Raymond, we have about 10 inches and still falling. The kids are very happy.
  4. I am a big believer in filling the cache void with drinking.
  5. Travis, I see you added Grays Harbor in 2006. Would you be horribly offended if one happened a lot sooner than that?
  6. All I have to say is: Thats freakin awsome!
  7. I was about to buy one also thinking there would be new games added, but that idea must have... fizzled?
  8. I just looked at the extended forecast, and it looks like we might have a white cache machine. That would make things interesting.
  9. Kinder gentler shift: Travis is right. For the sake of those who show up a little late, A group start time would be best. As the day goes on, the group spreads out, but when a difficult cache comes up, the rest catch up. And no one tries to ditch the group in the dust. (Lone Cedar) But seriously, I am very curious to se how this one turns out. I've got this feeling there is going to be a lot of cachers at this one. We should all car pool as much as we can!
  10. My advice? The etrex yellow is a proven unit. The cobra? Probably makes a better C.B. A geocaching friend of mine has found about 900 caches with his etrex yellow and still going strong. When I asked him what he would replace it with, he said: another etrex yellow. btw I've found over 300 with mine.
  11. $150-$250. Easy, Vista. $350. easy, GPSMAP 76S
  12. Before I take the plunge, Is anyone else pre-ordering a Garmin 60CS from TigerGPS.com? It looks like a good price, and now that I am on vaction, with nothing else better to do, I'm chomping at the bit.
  13. Just found this from tiger gps: Orders Begin Shipping Early January: Pre-Order Now! (Tiger GPS does not charge your credit card until we ship your order). my mistake. January for the 60C, and March for the 60CS.
  14. the most disgusting thing would be that time oregone and i ran into these two hot chicks near a cache and we didn't even say hi. Why didn't we say hi? We kicked ourselves all the way home.
  15. Just found this from tiger gps: Orders Begin Shipping Early January: Pre-Order Now! (Tiger GPS does not charge your credit card until we ship your order).
  16. about the time I first started caching, The main page said: "caches now hidden in all 50 states". The first cache I hid was the 4,641 to be placed.
  17. Travis, i've covered the "recreational purposes" avenue, and that only covers hunting/fishing, and the harvesting of wild berries/mushrooms. What i need is a letter to show them how benign caching is, and how it could only help them from a public relations standpoint. I'm not looking to make a company wide policy at this point, but pacify the management in my area(PeEll/Raymond/Aberdeen). ...on the other hand, someone at the corporate level, say a lawyer(cough-cough) could probably get caching approved on all Weyerhaeuser land.
  18. CurmudgeonlyGal, I will post here as i find out more. At the least, they would let us pull our caches. It would be good Public Relations for them, i think they'll end up allowing geocaches on there land. slinger
  19. Somehow or another geocaches on Weyerhaeuser property has been brought to the attention of some forestry managers(my bosses). At this point, they know very little about our sport, and are not sure if this is something they wish to allow on Weyerhaeuser property. What i need, is a letter i can take to the upper managment. I haven't talked directly to anyone yet, but i've been told a few of there concerns are: attracting people from the city who dislike logging practices, people unaware of how dangerous logging roads can be during the work week, and the idea of "abandoned property". I was hoping someone out there had a prepared letter i could tweak a little to address their concerns. Any advice would be great.
  20. Check out pdxgeocaching.com They have a cache posted there that breaks all the GC rules. Anarchy cache series.
  21. I just bought streets and trips 2004, and it works well on my laptop+GPS. I just wish it used geocaching coordinates, ie. Nxx°xx.xxx Wxxx°xx.xxx instead of Nxx°xx.xxxx Wxxx°xx.xxxx
