  1. After almost calling it quits, I thought I'd check just one more spot, and there, right by where you were parked, in the bushes about chest high, was what I thought was a dead bird. After sniffing the air, and pulling out my flashlight to make sure it wasn't an "ex-parrot", I made the grab! (thats right, a Monty Python reference. that's how I roll!)
  2. I would just like to add a word of caution to my fellow cachers. Please be careful when out there, this person sounds unstable at best, and I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if there were an altercation on the horizon. He/She/It doesn't seem to have the firmest grasp on reality, and often people who act out so over-zealously, often can be quite dangerous if confronted in person.
  3. #7 is no more! Came out as another cacher was pulling away. TheBlueFox was on the phone with shop owner, goading me to make the find, but the taunts were of little use! Picture will be added soon!
  4. I think she took your quote personal, because all of her hides average 1 star terrain? I refer to them as fast food cachers. Everything has to be "quick" their food, their cache finds, and their pathetic excuses for "found it" logs. TurtleFinder, You haven't been caching long enough to see the devolvement of geocaching by the type he has just described. We have seen the quality of caches degrade over the years. Are you serious??? Yet another individual convinced of their own superiority because of the length of time they are a member of a forum/club. " Well, I've been a member longer so you don't know what you're talking about." PLease. As for "devolvement" of cache types, let me ask this; Have you looked at Ebay lately? You mean to tell me that all your hides are unique? When this game started, they already had the little fake poo, or the birhouses, the electrical boxes, the magnetic nano, the magnetic numbers with logs attached to the backsides? All these were there right off the bat when GS started their site? Come on, new ideas are being put to use everyday. But as with everything in life, if all caches were perfect, how would we know the difference? I enjoy a challenge, and a good hunt, but the easier "vanilla" ones are fun too. Sorry that you can't just enjoy the game for what it is. To me, it's not always the destination, the journey is part of the experience. You "old timers" need to get off your high horses and stop crying about everything that doesn't particularly suit your tastes. If you don't like the smalls, filter them out, and read the logs before heading out. problem solved. All the smarmy-down-your-noses commentary and double talk serves no purpose whatever. Does it just make you feel better to talk down about other people? This is why I can't stand forums. Instead of lifting one another up, all the threads seem to eventually "devolve" into a "i'm better than you, and newbs suck" tear down session. Get over yourselfs, really... I guess what saddens me the most about this is that we have met so many wonderful people inthis game. Good, upstanding people of moral character and a fun nature. But as with anything, there are dissidents too. What I can't figure is this; It's a game. When you reach the point where all you look at is negativity, aren't you missing the point?
  5. I wish someone would convince our bleeding heart, far left governor of that. Every time a carry law comes up he vetoes it and the Democrats wont help the Republicans that bring the bill up override his veto. Over thirty thousand lines of gun control law, yet crime rates involving firearms don't go down.... If everybody carried, there'd be a lot less. Look at the Isreali/Palistinian shooting a couple weeks ago, the news actually reported that it would have been a wholesale slaughter of the Jewish students, if not for several of them carrying and returning fire on their assailants. I'm not a real big NRA guy or extremist, I just wonder how different VTech would have been had someone in class had a CWP. (sorry to drift off topic)
  6. And people say there is no difference between men and women A female is naked in the woods, GREAT caching experience... A male naked in the woods, get out the pepper spray I demand equality!!! I wonder who the police would arrest if you pepper sprayed the HOT, young, topless female sunbather? It is a really valid point, in jest or not.... We live in such a weird society.
  7. Are you kidding? Flashing can be harmless, however it is a crime, a sex crime, and typically in such a way as described by the OP, leads to more aggressive actions when the offender loses the thrill of the act, and thus needs to take it to another level to get the same (forgive me) "jollies off". This absolutely should be reported to the local police, and care should be taken to avoid contact with this individual. Pepper spray has saved more than a few lives, and not just from criminals, but the startled animal attack as well. I carry it all the time. BTW, great situational awareness by the OP.
  8. Hi there, While I am new to this sport, and this forum, I have been involved with other forums for quite some time. Here's the thing, they all have the same problems. I lurk because I have seen soooooooo much nonsensical &*%$ when a "noob" posts something, or there are those that are in the forums just to "flame" or they just thrive on the drama of cyber bullying. Maybe it's just that these people are really trying to compensate for their own ineptitude or self esteem issues by trying to prove they are better than the rest by adding to thier post count with off-topic insults or other cajolery. I don't know, but this is the first night I have come into this forum, and I witnessed the same smarmy comments about how someone asked a question (of course they didn't ANSWER) as every other forum I am a member of. I just don't get it, If you don't have anything nice to say, why say it? Sorry, not to drag on, I am new to the sport, I am an Eagle Scout and have pretty much grown up in the woods, hunting and fishing are my real passions. I was a BM/Rescue swimmer in the CG, and thus have been involved with GPS technology for quite a while, nice to see it used for fun instead of the usual dire situations I used it for in the past. I got my wife and kids hooked too, it really is a great family sport! I really am shocked about how many caches are out there! How many time must I have walked right by one and never knew!!!!! I am always looking for new friends, so maybe we'll run into one another on a cache hunt some time! Until then, Cache On!!!
  9. Tooo funny!!!! It's just to keep the muggles from seeing you when your caching topless....
  10. I am selling my streetpilot. Since I drive truck, and am a member of GeoTruckers.com, I have used it for geocaching. I just don't use i that much any more. Since getting into caching with my family I got a handheld. Works perfectly, has some minor scuffs on the front top but not very noticeable. comes with the cig lighter cord with speaker so it can give you voice guidance, and has a faceplate cover. $300 OBO or possible trade for vista or summit hc (I have a venture hc, but want the altimiter for mountaineering SAR) Thanks!
  11. Another Sock Puppet account. No finds. No Hides but 30 something forum posts. So, uh, you have to have finds and hides to post??? I didn't see that requirement anywhere. This just looks like the typical forum bashing from someone who is convinced of their "super posting powers".... I was hoping this forum would be different since it is such a family friendly game......nope, same as all the others, got the few posters with several hundred posts looking to contribute nothing but their smarmy comments which have nothing to do with actual topic. Good one, you feel better now?
