So I just started Geocaching, picked up my first few today (found a few before I had a GPS but I figured I shouldn't sign those, as that seemed weird.). I just got my GPS, a Vista HCx, and it's got the basemap, etc. I'm gonna grab a microSD card for it tommorow. Now here's my problem. I frequently travel between west and east TN, and sometimes into Alabama. The basemap seems to be missing quite a few roads and such. Apparently, I can buy a DVD for the entire US I could load, but that's a hundred bucks! Am I missing something here, or is that "US TOPO 2008" the only way to get maps that actually have roads that aren't just highways?
And my second question is I am using GSAK to transfer waypoints to my GPS. To mark one as found, so that everyone sees I found them, I have to actually go to the site and log it, typing something in the box, right? I can't just click the "found" button in GSAK? There's alot of syncing and extra-techno lingo I can't quite wrap my head around yet. It's confusing!
