  1. My brother who likes in yellowknife seems to have some. He is sailing around the lake this summer, and I think he was saying that he has some, but that they aren't super detailed. I will fire him a e-mail for more info. That would be much appreciated! Thank you very much. Also, if it helps, I'll be heading out to the east arm of the lake.
  2. Hello, I was just wondering if there are any gps marine maps available for Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories. I have searched but have come up empty. I'll be heading up there fishing in August and I would like obtain some if at all possible.
  3. How are you connecting your unit? I used to have this problem when I attempted to connect the unit to my computer when the unit was off. But, if I had my unit on then connected it to my computer, it worked just fine. As for my feelings about the firmware update, I still have to play around with it more.
  4. I have an issue identical to yours. You however, had the gumption to put a bit more effort into diagnosing your problem I've been meaning to looking into mine further, just haven't as of yet.
  5. I have run into an extremely minor problem, but a problem none-the-less. When I plug my 300 into my computer it turns on for a brief moment then turns off. If I turn the unit on before plugging it into my computer, it connects fine. As I said, minor inconvenience, but I would imagine that it isn't supposed to perform that way, since it used to turn itself on when I connected it to my computer.
  6. The maps seem to be good. They convert fine and everything is merry until it gets to the transferring phase. EDIT: Well I selected a tiny portion and tried to transfer that (I was selecting large sections of Canada before), and it loaded fine. I guess the program is a bit flakey when dealing with large map segments.
  7. I was wondering if anyone had run into any problems with Garmin's MapInstall for OS X. I am trying to use it to put some third party maps on my Colorado 300, but it "craps out" at random times during the transfer phase. I have attempted to transfer these maps multiple times to no avail. Has anyone run into this issue, and have any solutions? Info: Model: Colorado 300 Firmware: 2.40 Maps Attempting to Load: http://www.ibycus.com/ibycustopo/ Media: I have attempted to load it to the 300's internal memory and to an SD Card.
  8. Except, as far as I understand it, WAAS is only available in Canada, USA and Mexico.
  9. Hello, I have recently ordered a Garmin Colorado 300 (my first real GPS), which should be arriving shortly. I have been viewing these forums and other sites trying to get informed as best as I can about this unit. One thing that I was wondering about, which I have not seen mentioned, is that of the effects (if any) of differing speeds of SD cards on the Colorado. If one were to use a Class 6 (relating to read/write speed) SD Card, would this noticeably increase performance compared to, say, a Class 2, or does the Colorado function relatively the same regardless of the card?
