  1. Stockdale Texas Lodge #470. WM 2012-2013.
  2. Good grief! A test?, You're joking right? This is a game, a hobby, it's supposed to be fun. Nobody dies if we don't all abide by your rules. You can put your test where the sun doesn't shine!! Get a life!!! God invented beer to prove he loved us.
  3. Signing the paper log is just one of the fun things about geocaching to me. If you don't have time to sign the log you may not really like geocaching, that is part of it. I look at the logs in my owned ones to see if you have actually been there. If no signature, your smiley is taken away. Some of us like real things that are not binary, like ice cream, baseball, apple pie and cache logs.
  4. If you are asking about the arrow "pointer" on the compass, you can change it. Go to "settings", "heading", and change it.
  5. And, also I believe you need the Garmin "communicator" plug-in loaded on your computer???
  6. "FTF-Geocacher" is a first class magazine, still alive and well. I just got my new issue last week. Very active geocacher is owner/editor/publisher/artist/grunt/lackey, Keith Petrus. Try it you will like it. info@geocacher.com is their email. www.ftfgeocacher.com
  7. I just counted mine and I do have 6400 loaded right now. They are in several different PQ's of course. I don't think the 5000 limit is correct just because someone says it is.
  8. Hmmmmmmm? I have around 8000 caches on my 450 right now. I use the SD card for different maps. If I go to a different state or country I just pop in a different card. Yeah, I know I could put them all on one but I just don't want to do that just in case an SD card goes bad. I put my .gpx files on my Garmin and the maps on the SD cards. It just amounts to personal preference, just how you like to do it. I travel in my work and I never know where I may end up, so sometimes I have 14 different PQ's on my 450, and several of them have 1000 caches in them.
  9. Go to "settup", heading, and make sure it is set to "bearing, small needle". Or something like that, I don't have it right in front of me. If the setting is on "CDI" it will really be crazy looking for a cache.
  10. Run a PQ of caches 5 miles from the airport. You could probably walk to several with your carry-on with you. I would think within 5 miles of that airport would be plenty of caches to keep you busy for a couple of hours. Good luck. Let us know how this works out for you.
  11. I am a premium member and I have a PM only cache listed. One of the reasons is that it was stolen three times. I made it a PM only cache and it is still there. If I want to make all my caches PM only, that is what I will do. I pay for the right to do that and I think others that pay for the hobby have the right to have and find PM only caches if they want to.
  12. The Android app "GPS Status" has a radar screen that will take you right to the coordinates you input in your phone. Works very well.
  13. Just a little history for you. The JD distillery is in a "dry" county, so you can't drink any JD there. I've always thought that was just too crazy having one of the world's best known whiskey stills in a dry county. That's okay though, they make some mighty fine whiskey.
  14. You don't need basecamp to load caches on your 450. Just create a Pocket Query, open the .zip file (IE will do it) and then drag and drop it to your Garmin. It has to be a .gpx file, not a .loc file.
  15. I use the official Geocaching app. It's $10.00 but in the long run it's worth it, it works. I use "Whereyougo" for Wherigo caches, never had a problem with it either, just follow the instructions on the web page for downloading cartridges and it's pretty easy.
  16. This is the way I set my 450 up; I use the Recreational profile, I find it is much easier to use than the Geocaching profile. You can set the data fields to any on the list, I have battery, GPS Signal, Distance to destination, and something else I can't remember right now. Also go to "setup", "heading", and set the compass to "bearing small pointer". If you have it set to anything that says CDI you will get very confused when navigating to a geocache. This is all from memory, I don't have the unit in front of me, so some of the actual words may be a little different.
  17. + 4. The Eneloops and a Maha charger works really good for me.
  18. I don't work for them either, but I buy a lot of "stuff" there. Also I don't work for Cabela's but they usually have just about every current model GPS to let you look at.
  19. Rice fixed mine. Until I dropped it and really broke it.
  20. I've had the same trouble. Zooming way out, (more detail) will usually fix it, but not always.
  21. First we have the "cache police", now we have the "age" police?? Geeze. Leave it alone, let the people at Groundspeak police the forums. I started getting SS a couple of years ago and couldn't care less if someone less than 18 posts here. go for it.
  22. Hey, I know, each to his own but I would appreciate it if all CO's would mention if it is a nano so I don't waste my time looking for it.
  23. Yes, "Field Notes" is the best way to upload your caches. I also put a lot more than 5000 caches on my Garmin 450, I probably have 7000 to 8000 on there right now. I never know what direction work will send me so I have caches in just about any direction. I was thinking that you could put a max of 20 .gpx files on the Garmin units with up to 1000 in each file???? Maybe not.
