  1. I guess the word "Deal" is not a good description to use. I should change that to E.L.F is upset about caches being left on forest lands.
  2. Yes. They are the group thats big on saving the world and enviroment, yet they set fires and polute the air . I understand where they are coming from if it's true, but I dont think we are destroying any lands.
  3. While at work today I was presented with a question/rumor about caches located in forest lands. My friend was out with a buddy of his that does mapping and was informed that the E.L.F group is begining to make a deal about caches located on forest lands. Has anyone else heard anything on this? Or is it a bad rumor?
  4. I originaly bought mine for work. I'm a firefighter in Southern Cal and was stationed up in the mountain area. I used it all the time for helicopter operations (medivacs) fire mapping and hiking. I soon found out about geocaching and in no time I was out finding metal and plastic containers.
  5. I'm not just saying that the newbies are doing this. I've seen both. But the one TB I grabbed was last picked up and logged in early March and it was last week I picked it up. Another one I picked up, I did shoot the guy an email to have him log it in the cache he dropped it off at so that I could show that I grabbed it. He wrote me back saying he had no idea how to do it. I guess it's all a part of learning the rules of the game.
  6. The last couple months I've found that TB's are not being logged in and out properly. I see that most of but not all of the problems come from new cachers that have no idea what they are or how to log them. They pick them up and then drop them off in a new cache without logging them in as a find. This past weekend I spent some time up in Red Rocks Cyn, Nevada. I grabbed 2 TB's that were never showen left there. I had to take the long way around to show that I picked it up. Any suggestions on how to educate others on this subject? Are others finding this problem as well?
  7. Another thing to think about, look where you never expect it to be. The last couple weeks I've seen all types of creative caches from a phony apple to a cache designed to resemble the tree it's in. Think outside the box, take a step back and look around. Things are not always what they seem.
  8. I have to side with those that enjoy "The Junk". I have a backpack full of trade items that we refer to as The Cache Bag. Not only do I enjoy the trade, but my kids love to pick threw the treasures and chose what they want to take and leave. Another thing, along with my sig item I always try to trade up. Thats the only down side, to find some old broken junk in the bottom of the cache because some dont want to leave something nice behind. It's not that hard to run down to Wal Mart or the 99 cent store and stock up a nice cache bag .
  9. I leave a sig item in every cache I visit. But I put it there for others to take or trade if they want to. I know of a few others that do the same and if those items were neve taken, the cache would become too full fast. If it's in there, free game in my opinion.
