  1. Wonder if I should keep my pre-order on Amazon and pre-order on REI too? See which one ships first? I'm assuming REI since Amazon has yet to even get the 600's. My luck though they'll both ship same time and I'll be charged twice That was short lived. Did anyone order and get booted? I preordered on Amazon on the 11th. Ever since then my shipment date has been "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date. " When I email them I get the same response for a customer service rep. They tell me they haven't received any information from Garmin so they have nothing to tell me. For this they upgraded my shipping to one-day free. Still waiting with no confirmed date. I called Amazon, yesterday and was told maybe May 16th. Not particularly happy with this. What is Garmin doing?!? Do you have a Cabela's near you? They have them in stock now. Also, I can load caches if I just say it's a 550. Guess gc.com, GSAK and Easygps all need to update.
  2. Dunno about in store, but online shows Backorderable for 650 and 650t I got my 600t last night at Cabelas, but am unable to load any caches into it
  3. I just bought the 600t last night at Cabela's. I am having a helluva time trying to figure out how to load caches into it. Nothing lists the 600t yet when you go to choose the GPS you're using. Does anybody know how to do it? I have tried GSAK and EasyGPS.
  4. I have had a regular blog for over a year now, but just recently started a separate caching blog. My daily blog is here: A Florida Journal Caching only blog is here: Gladeslvr & Crew's Geocaching Blog If you stop by either one, please leave me a comment, even if it's just to say Hi!
  5. I agree with ePete...West Marine or BassPro Shop. There's a new BassPro opening Oct. 3rd or 4th at Dolphin Mall, off the turnpike.
  6. I think path tags are a great idea! I think once a few start to pop up in your town, you'll begin to see more and more of them. I got into caching because it's cheap entertainment (well, after the $500 gps and 50,000,000 gallons of gas!). Spending grocery money on coins is not an option for me! Wooden nickels, path tags, cheaper sig items...they're all cool and fun to collect.
  7. My son and I had just found a cache and had it opened up on the ground when a cop pulled up and asked what we were doing. I told him my usual "scavenger hunt" line. He said, "Oh, I thought you were homeless". !!!!!!!!! I'll admit that we weren't dressed in our Sunday bests, but c'mon..."homeless"?????
  8. I HATE hints that tell you exactly where to look. That's not a hint, that's a total cheat. But the BS hints like described in previous posts (ie. "look under the boulder" in a pile of boulders) are just wrong, too. People need to think twice about the definition of the word "hint". Make it a valuable tool that still requires use of some brain cells, but not a useless waste of time. My $.02.
  9. Hope I'm not too late! We'd take 2 of 'em!
  10. Awesome, awesome pics everybody! I am so jealous!!!
  11. (gasp!) A special cache that you wouldn't get a smilie for???? You might not get many positive rsvps for that one!
  12. Amen! Let's not get anal about a multi-tool! Jeesh!
  13. ROFLMAO!!!! This is just too good! I'd keep it on my page just for the laughs. Wonder where his spirit will go to next?
  14. 45, 39, 16, 12 and my littlest one who will be 1 year in a few days has been going since he was still in the oven!
  15. Micros in the woods are kind of disappointing, BUT, most of the time any cache is better than no cache. A little thought in their placement, either a nice view, something historic, or a well camoed container is what counts, be it big or small. Just my opinion.
  16. The ones I'd choose for natural beauty would be That was Zen this is Now, Math Lake, and of course...Haunting the Bay (although this one is a 3 parter and may take up a good chunk of the day, it does expose you to some beautiful places). Wherever you guys go, have FUN!!! and don't forget to tell us all about your adventure!
