flask... the short answer is no there doesn't seem to be guidelines around this. I also understand that asking if guidelines exist is much different that asking for guidelines.
  2. I think Lep is asking... who is going to create the first google earth geocaching tutorial.
  3. Is this true? There is a mass exodus of German cachers? I'm not trying to be contradictory, but I just looked it looks like Navicache has 117 caches listed. I'm not sure how many the other you mentioned has. Correct me if I searched incorrectly though. I certainly understand your angst though... I know I would be terribly frustrated.
  4. You can pick them up at a Boy Scout store. Many troop leaders hand them out to a Scout for going above and beyond the call of duty. Very much the same way many military units hand out their coins.
  5. If you use google maps you only need to click the google map on the cache page. This will only show that one cache though. To use google earth you need to have google earth installed on your computer. Go to "My Account" page and click and open the link on the right side that says "Download Geocache browser in Google Earth" Hope that helps.
  6. I thought the interactive maps have been limited to premium members for a long time. However, they could see the map before.
  7. So, I was packing up my office yesterday and came across some magnetic photo frames that I drop pictures of the kids behind. I think it would be a nice item for sale in the Groundspeak store. Inexpensive yet useful for us folks that like to display their geocaching adventures. I suppose I could make one easy enough by printing to a sticker, adhering it to a magnet and cutting it out with an exacto knife, but I'm not feeling that artsy fartsy these days. Here is a quick attempt at a design I would like to see. I think it would be interesting to see what some of the real creative folks out here could come up with too.

  10. Caching Karma Stick rob14erguy currently has the Caching Karma Stick in Colorado Springs Colorado and is looking for someone to hand it off to. Anyone heading his way that can bring it closer to it's goal in Tuscon Arizona? Please contact rob14erguy or myself if you think you can help. Remember, the stick is only handed from geocacher to geocacher. THANKS

  12. I agree, and that is coming from a guy that loves to play with audio in his logs and cache pages. Simply link your audio if you think it adds to the page. Here is how I did it at one of our caches.
  13. Oh man! Shame you won't have them for the GGA event next weekend. I don't have my personal coin yet, but I would have been happy to trade something. Very cool coin!
  14. Hmmmm.... seems this topic has inadvertantly been hijacked. Lets move the conversation on sales and such back to this thread.
  15. The red handed coin, I don't believe, was sold for profit. He went out of his way to explain the costs and that money was not being made. The other thing to realize is that YOU CAN"T broker tracking numbers for any but PERSONAL GEOCOINS.
  16. Good points. They can only mean for profit... but clarification from TPTB would be good. I will update the original post to inlcude the other bullets.
  17. OK, I will go first. I would like to have a partner that would be interested in 250 of the tracking numbers. I'm only looking for one partner though to keep it simple. I'm looking to purchase next week.
  18. OK, I would imagine we will begin to get many requests in the forums in the future for folks looking to share the costs of tracking number for their PERSONAL GEOCOINS. I would like to suggest we keep those requests nice and tidy and prevent forum litter. Hey, I like that... forum litter When posting make sure you mention the number of tracking numbers you would like to split or are looking for. Also, based on this topic here are a few things to be aware of... All parties will have to need to have their geocoin designed approved by geocaching.com. Original buyer is responsible for the tracking numbers. Geocaching.com can delete the tracking numbers if designs aren't approved or I imagine other types of issues. Your personal geocoins are not allowed to be sold for profit. (Hopefully more clarification coming soon). If for some reason you release unapproved coins or break the rules in some way your coin's tracking number can be deleted. UPDATE 9/28/05: Added a few bullets
  19. I agree... I have taken to collecting state and organization coins. I have purchased several in the past few weeks. I can't wait to get my hands on some more personal geocoins, but for some reason I feel they have to be given to me in person or found in a cache. So, to get back on topic... I want my coins trackable so I can keep track of them I have found tracking coins from an alternative web site simply isn't as efficient.
  20. I was just discussing this with a fellow geocacher. I plan on creating a personal geocoin and hope to make it trackable. Do I think it will be moved from cache to cache? Nope. However, I plan activating each coin to my account and if I leave it in a worth while cache or give it to a cacher for a reason... I can put it in the TB description. They can grab it and now I have an easy way to track who has my coins. As much as I love geocoins I will not use them for trading... I would like to have mine found or earned. I just need to find someone that will split a lot of Tracking numbers. I don't need 500 of them.
  21. Here is my contribution That I put together for some other NEO cachers.
  22. per Cav Scout's request If you have a SILVER coin reserved for you in this thread please jump out to the OIFGA web page and make a payment. If you have a GOLD coin reserved for you, please make sure you Email Cav Scout with your address. Since the gold coins have been donated by a very, very kind geocacher no payment will be needed! OIFGA coin page - Veteran geocachers ROCK!
  23. I have to get in on this Cav... I will have to find something worthy of a trade.
