  1. Cruise Planners is a large company and their agents are franchisees. Nothing wrong with that. Just making things clearer for the sake of the discussion. My travel agent is also with Cruise Planners and is very good. Sounds like a it would be a great trip! Wish I could swing it, but I am afraid our cruises are booked for the foreseeable future and I am sure the wife would just roll her eyes if I brought this one up.
  2. Very annoying. Glad to know it is not just me. I have tried different browsers and such, but rebooting is the only thing that gets me back on track and able to plan my caching.
  3. I am not familiar with that niraD. I am less than a year old to this and have to rely on the lore of others and old threads to learn fully what has happened in the past.
  4. I see one thing that could be used in geocaching. I rather like virtual caches and there are so few of them and no more are allowed correct? I believe that there was a problem with the armchair logging or follow up from cache owners or something like that? (Please fill me in if I am wrong on that). The technology that is being used could actually be used to breathe new life into virtual caches and bring them back to life. You would have to be at the physical location in order to log your find. Something along the lines of within 25 feet or so. I guess what I am getting at is a hybrid between virtual and Wherigo. Sort of a single stop Wherigo. I have yet to do a Wherigo, so I may be way off base on that as well.
  5. Sure, when I look at a map I want to see what is on it. I have some visual issues since a stroke a couple of years ago, and I need things to not be changing on me. Plus, when I am looking for where to cache, my brain looks at the caches and roads and such mapping a possible route to travel before I zoom in and look closer. I happen to be very visually inclined and having the geocaches show where they are on the map is the way I need to see it. I don't want them to remove the function, I just want to be able to turn it off for my use. Good question team rabbit run. I'll actually pose the same question in reverse. I can't see any reason where clustering like that would be an advantage and would be interested in hearing why people do like the function.
  6. I was going to comment on the release notes, but they were locked. I do use another ap on occasion. I guess I will be using that one a bit more now. I also have a problem with new caches not showing up on the ap, but the alternate ap brings it up right away. It is good to have options.
  7. Please. Is there a way to turn off the clustering? It is horrible.
  8. When cords comes up it is usually caused by an auto correct.
  9. I know HM1USNRET. Stand up guy. They do indeed sign as team shawnuf most of the time.
  10. I don't believe that a cache, once archived, can be un-archived. I am pretty sure that you will have to relist it as a new cache.
  11. I can't believe I read this thread. We already have a massive team that that goes out and checks caches to see if they are there. I like to call it "geocaching". In fact some geocaches get looked at to ensure that they are there several times a week and even hundreds of times after publication. "Geocachers" are this massive volunteer force that goes out and does these things. When there is a problem, it gets noted or reported to the CO or in some cases to a reviewer if it requires urgent attention. It seems that the problem is solved.
  12. Holy carp! That is horrible! I hope something can be done. Please keep us updated.
  13. If you are looking at the Samsung Galaxy line, Go for the "active" models. They are more durable and have significantly more battery power than their "regular" or "edge" counterparts. I was using the galaxy 5 active and have moved onto the galaxy 6 active. The geocaching aps work great on them. Check out some reviews on youtube for a better list of pros and cons for android vs. apple.
  14. Take a look at any geocache near you. Scroll down to the bottom of the list of logs. The one on the bottom will be from a reviewer. Click their name, send them a message and start a dialog directly with one of your local reviewers. I think the direct approach will work wonders here.
  15. Almost a year ago, we went on a major diet and workout lifestyle change for various reasons. Geocaching may not be the exercise solution to lose weight, but it is a nice addition to a regular plan for us. It fills in the gaps between our workouts. We do 3 regular workouts each week and the rest is free style. We have found lots of great trails that we will be hiking in the area, but the rain is killing us. It makes these trails sloppy wet that would normally be dry this time of year. We have found 2 concrete trails that we have hit. As said above, it is what you make of it. You can hit a 12 mile trail to burn calories and find some geocaches, or you can go to the gym. As for me, I would rather burn that same number of calories looking for caches. I am new to all of this and I know the best trails are out there for me to find yet.
  16. I am less than 2 months into this and am having great fun. I had a minor goal of finding 50 caches by the end of the year and I am heading out shortly with the grandson so I can get 2 more to hit that goal. As for the new year they would be as follows. 1. Keep my average of greater than one find per day so I guess I am looking at 366 caches or better for 2016. 2. Release some travel bugs. Very easy one as we are launching a batch as a family tomorrow the 1st. 3. Find more cache types. So far it has just been traditional. This will be relatively easy. I just need to pick some and do them. 4. Cache in another state. Not sure when or where, but I will try my best. 5. Cache in another country. Going on a cruise next month so should be easy. 6. Complete whatever challenge comes up in August from geocaching.com 7. Attend an event. There are several in the area today and tomorrow, but I can not attend them due to other engagements. 8. Above all else, relax, enjoy, get some nice hiking in and spend some time with the family. Happy new year everyone!
  17. So, we are having some great fun with geocaching so far. I got some trackables and made some travel bugs for the family. One for me, one for the wife, one for the grandson, one for the daughter and one for the son in law. We are all hitting the road on January 1st to go to a wedding and we will be hitting a travel bug hotel and dropping them all off. We are going to make a game of it and see who's travel bug can move further or faster. We will make sure to get together every 3 months or so and compare. Anyone else do something similar?
  18. Greetings from sunny Florida! Brand new to this and really liking it. I remember looking into it years back in Illinois, but ended up forgetting about it. Something a week or so ago sparked a memory and I am actually doing it and loving it. I want to get the grandson liking it and get him some kind of hobby other than the I-pad. I think he will. I am stacking the deck and going out and finding caches before I take him out so we have some good success the first time I take him out. He is 7. The wife has joined me as well and she is liking it too. I have spent all of my spare time this past week reading the forums and watching youtube videos and have learned so much! There is so much to learn and I am treading lightly in order to do it right.
