  1. Nice job on V2. I have to admit I didn't really care much for V1. V2 is much more responsive, except for PQ downloading right now. Keep up the good work and thanks!
  2. Along the same lines as this, where is auto correct for the text box?
  3. I believe everyone is experiencing it but not talking about it. There is an easy fix for it though that I found in the feedback forums. ~~Note from Keystone: Be sure that your account preferences are set for GPX version 1.0.1. Look at the very bottom of the list of settings on this page: http://www.geocaching.com/account/default.aspx The difference between v1.0 and v1.0.1 is the absence or presence of attributes.~~ Hope this helps!
  4. Your GPS should be used for finding caches and for it's paperless caching data. Why do you care about the stats on your GPS? I use three different GPS's at times and have never even though about seeing my stats. That's what geocaching.com is for.
  5. I'm wondering if your issues were not simply PC issues and really had nothing to do with your GPS. Just my $0.02
  6. I use my GC all the time and had switched from a Garmin GPSMAP60. I have absolutely no issues with it. Usually when I am at the GZ it says I am withing 3 feet or so. Can't ask for much better than that. Your GPS should not need to take you right on top of every cache. If you get within 50 feet you're doing good. Helps keep the fun of the hunt in the game
  7. Something that could speed up your process of 5 GPX files is use a Marco in GSAK to condense them all into one that way you only have to copy one over. Either way you can just drag and drop GPX files to the GC with no problem.
  8. I had a very similar issue with my Garmin GPSMAP60cs. My issue turned out to be the spring in the belt clip. It had enough magnetism to mess with the compass. Remove anything metal from around it including your rings, watch, carabiners, etc..... they try it again.
  9. This is being discussed and GS is looking into it on the Feedback forums. I have the original Motorola Droid and I've already gone from fully charged to fully dead in two hours flat. Battery hog.
  10. It nothing magnetic that's causing it. When you have the button screwed in, the unit doesn't lay flat. Remove it, and it does. The electronic compass has to be level to work right. The composition of the screw and belt clip have nothing to do with it. Sorry, but my belt clip, the one that Garmin shipped with it, is magnetically interfering with it. I've also experienced the needle moving on a traditional compass while passing my belt clip past it.
  11. Surplus City in Bellwood, PA has .30 cal for $7.99 and .50 cal for $8.99.
  12. I know someone who primarily uses a Nuvi for both in the car and in the bush for the caches so I'm going to say yes although I like my GPSMAP60cs
  13. Most CO's don't care but if you happen to cross paths with one that does I tend to take a picture of the area and of the container itself as proof.
  14. That would be the case if it was a 60CX, which doesn't have a magnetic compass, but not so for the 60CSX which has a magnetic compass and doesn't require that you move for it to work. I suspect that Prime Suspect and Starbrand are correct. The compass needs to be calibrated every time the user changes batteries and any time it starts acting fluky. These are all possibilities but I notices a really odd behavior of mine that I'll share. I have a 60CS (No SD slot) and the arrow was always pointing as if I was walking backwards or sideways. It took me a week or so to figure out that they belt clip was changing the compass pointer via some magnetic interference. Test yours by laying it on something non metalic and flat without the belt clip. Take note of the red arrow's orientation. After you know where it is pointing then bring the belt clip close to the unit and see if it changes. Mine was changing by about 40+/- degrees.
  15. I've bought a few by posting a wanted ad on craigslist.
  16. Not sure what kind of phone you have Mike but a lot of them support some form of paperless caching data so check around and see if you can find another use for the phone you may already have, not to mention what you'll save in paper and ink.
  17. I've always though about an option from Groundspeak to obtain a Trackable number for use on whatever item you choose. Obviously this opens up the chance of a loss a lot more since most trackable items are very recognizable but it still seems there is a want for it in the community.
  18. Both very good choices. I've see the ETrex on ebay for around $50 used if you're not really willing to put down a lot of cash for a GPS and maybe not like or use it.
  19. I suggest simply going to Google and do a quick search on Geocache Containers Then click on the IMAGES link at the top. My search returned 33,600 pictures. Should give you a better idea what you're looking for. After finding some you'll get the feel for it. If you're still having trouble maybe see if you can locate someone in your area who is experienced and see if they would mind you tagging along on a few finds.
  20. I've personally never used INATN but Dave why not just hand it down to another developer rather than close it? You could still wash your hands of it but allow the users to continue using the product. Just a thought.
  21. I write less on the log sheets than in my smartphone logs.
  22. I would include the astronaut who placed the cache on the ISS.
  23. If you're trying to geocache for profit you've completely missed the point. Start you're own site geocachingforprofit.com
  24. The unmentionable and UNAPPROVED app they are talking about is basically any Android app in existence because Groundspeak hasn't officially released their own app for the Android OS yet. I kind of understand why the remark them out but I don't agree with it. Obviously cachers have been searching and searching for the best app for Android and since Groundspeak hasn't released theirs they're preventing us from talking about any of the others too. Groundspeak, [content removed] If you're not going to release something soon then at least let us talk about other useful apps that everyone using Android would be interested in and can actually use. If yours is better in the end then it's a win for everyone but preventing us from talking about other apps if ridiculous. [Edited by moderator to remove disrespectful potty language. 25. Geocaching.com has a list of most of them on their page. HERE
