  1. Firefox has been working normally on same computer/internet service so it's something with geocaching and google chrome. Driving me crazy as I would prefer google chrome.
  2. Does anyone else experience slowness on geocaching or even the forums (I just had to wait too long and multiple clicks to put the cursor into the search field on Google Chrome). I switched to Firefox and it seems a lot better. I switched browsers some months ago to Firefox because Chrome was so slow on geocaching. I then switched back to Chrome, hoping it was better, but I'm in the same situation again. Loading cache pages, loading maps, adding caches to lists, etc. No other website seems slow for me so not sure if it's just my computer/internet or something more widespread. Thanks.
  3. Maybe this went off the rails, but two people entered in coordinates and got red then later entered in the same coordinates and got green. This was not a what3words puzzle. I own this puzzle. Both sent me the coordinates and they were correct. They later entered the same coordinates and got green after getting red on same coordinates.
  4. I had 2 reports from different people that entering correct coordinates into the geocaching provided checker did not go green. I also tried to enter correct coordinates (it was a what3words puzzle) and it did not go green (and then the CO thinking the checker didn't work at all, removed it from the puzzle). Anyone else? I'm on chrome, using laptop.
  5. Same issue, I'm using google chrome One error I got: An error has occurred We were unable to load the requested content. Error: { "message": "Loading chunk 7 failed.\n(timeout: https://www.geocaching.com/plan/public/7.8ad3d1fba300ff0fd6ec.js)", "name": "ChunkLoadError", "type": "timeout", "request": "https://www.geocaching.com/plan/public/7.8ad3d1fba300ff0fd6ec.js" } Details: { "componentStack": "\n in Unknown\n in Suspense\n in section\n in div\n in GCModal\n in div\n in ae\n in t\n in t\n in Suspense\n in n\n in t\n in c\n in i\n in Connect(i)\n in U\n in Connect(U)\n in Unknown\n in d\n in r" }
  6. I posted link to this on the So NV FB group page.
  7. Bring replacement containers and logs. Last time I was up there doing a portion, there were missing containers or logs in less than ideal "containers", possibly due to graders or heavy equipment (re-paving was going on). I was in the 700s to 850 section. I read another log about missing cntrs in the early 900s. Good luck on your run.
  8. I would suggest asking the person to delete it first or telling them you are about to so they have a chance to save it. An owner deleted a picture I posted (which showed about 10 people looking for the container, not even the container or location). And the picture was totally erased (did not remain in my personal gallery). I had not saved it elsewhere.
  9. Was having this problem too. I cleared some search history from today on Google Chrome for geocaching and the maps began to work for me now so far. I don't know if that's coincidental or not though.

  11. I posted the link to this on our FB group.
  12. I think the Monterra is going to get some unfortunate person lost. My compass still jumps on the move (and I noticed so does the icon for your moving car on the map). I could not use the compass screen to find a cache, the red arrow sends me somewhere else. This bug is just awful now: Choosing a destination and selecting [Go] with [settings > Garmin > Routing > Activity > Direct] selected results in data fields 'DIST TO NEXT' and 'DIST TO DEST' displaying '--m' or '--ft' until the routing activity is changed. Choosing a destination and selecting [Go] with any other routing activity selected and then changing routing activity to 'Direct' has no adverse affect on the data fields. [wiki] [19DEC13] [2.20_1.16.00] I normally flip from direct/auto/direct/auto, etc on my way to the cache and then to find the cache. So ran into this alot today. So not only does it point me in the wrong direction to walk, I have nothing telling me the distance to go to get there. I'm thinking of going Slinger05's route. The behavior is unacceptable, especially given the unit cost.
  13. I thought REI had a one year policy. Is it different for GPS units? "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed We stand behind everything we sell. If you are not satisfied with your REI purchase, you can return it for a replacement or refund. Items must be returned within a year of purchase, except items purchased from REI-OUTLET (with a .73 price ending) which must be returned within 30 days of purchase."
  14. I calibrated mine today. Initial look side by side to Montana was that Monterra was still off. I didn't get a lot of time to play with trying to find a cache though. Will report back as soon as I have more info.
  15. Thanks. I have seen that in the notifications. I didn't know it was from any screen though. This is probably just me trying to transition from the montana and things I miss. Although if the compass remains off, I won't be transitioning from the montana! Non-geocaching issue I had last night with the FM Radio. All I got was extra loud static/fuzz (glad the earbuds were NOT in my ear). The "fix" for this was to toggle my volumes up and down. Just a heads up and watch your ears warning for others.
  16. I going to try to re-calibrate mine tomorrow and see. I was hopeful until I saw your guys posts... I reported all the bugs that I found one by one to garmin by email and I will continue to report as I find: compass does not point to my destination saving of navigation voice of none is not saved after unit is restarted labels of waypoints not shown on the map my geocache logs were showing html tags (but this mysteriously disappeared on me) found geocaches are not removed from list and when I save a filter of "Not Found", it flips back to All geocaches not hearing beep on active route screen (they gave me directions on this one, but I have not tested out in the field yet) For these items, I was directed to garmin ideas, which I take to mean, you're SOL. But I reported them there anyway. 1) I could not find geocache find count 2) Bigger icon capability 3) One shortcut button for Stop Navigation 4) One shortcut button for Track Log On and another shortcut button for Track Log Off I have not been able to use the monterra to find a cache yet due to the compass issue.
  17. Kris, There's a multitude of free compass apps on the Android marketplace. Just go to the Google Play Store and choose a bunch, try them out, and keep the one you like. Third party developers, guys in their garage or basement, appear to be more competent at Android compass development and integration than the giant Garmin corporation. Sometimes I swear they just don't even try. I'm just guessing here but I'm pretty sure that none of the third party apps will "point" you to your selected geocache. You can get the bearing azimuth to the cache from the trip computer and use a third party compass app to follow that azimuth. You could also just turn off the magnetic compass and use the GPS compass (compass settings menu). The only downside to that is you'll have to be moving for it to properly orientate. Software updates since release have been non-existent. For some reason the Monterra, with it's oft sluggish operation and multitude of bugs, hasn't been getting any update love. Rather perplexing given it's price point. I'm a bit confused. I'm using the GPS compass, it's set to True (like my Montana) and I was moving towards caches today. The compass was not pointing in the same direction as my montana.
  18. My compass seems to be off on my Monterra. So here's how I use it. I pick a cache, hit Go, home button, compass (the big one with the 4 fields at top). It's not pointing to where the cache is, which is entirely frustrating. Some people said they downloaded a 3rd party app. Which ones would that be? And is it going to point me to the cache? Thanks.
  19. I just wanted to thank you for the trade at GCF.
  20. I posted the link to this thread on the local FB group.
  21. If you are on Facebook, there appears to be a group for your state Geocaching-Arizona. You might try to contact cache owners in the area.
  22. Yes. http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC2T1HD_nightime-triple-slash http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC4FDEJ_moon-light-madness http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCQKJY_sneaky-petes-permanent-address I thought there might be at least one more, but not sure as I don't do night caches for most part. I have done last one, I would want 4wd to make it easier, but someone healthy could make it with no problem. Watch out for snakes if it takes you to desert/mountain areas. If you are on FB, the people on Southern Nevada Geocaching group might know more. Just send your gc ID to me after asking to join.
  23. My list is also frozen in time.
