  1. Thanks MustangTim, I'm thinking of these as gifts - one for my wife and one for my dad. My wife does a lot of driving for her work and gets on back roads a lot, though not off road or on tiny forestry roads. And she needs something to get her to an address. Dad's use would be just for fun. I already have a GPSMap 60cx, which I love and use all the time in my truck and for geocaching. My wife and dad are not interested in caching, but I was wondering if the Nuvi 205 would be suitable if we wanted to. For the price difference, I think I will try a 205, then maybe later get a more advanced one for myself. Thanks for all your help!
  2. Will this work on a Nuvi 205 as well? Can MapSource topos be loaded into a 205 and can latitude and longitude destinations be entered into a 205? Thanks.
  3. Thanks guys. Do you know if you can actually put latitudes and longitudes into thes Nuvis? I've seen some of the dash GPSs from a few years ago and they had no idea what a lat or lon was - only street addresses. Thanks
  4. Folks, Is there a dash-mounted GPS that is Geocache capable? Preferably a Garmin that can be loaded with the topo software. I have a Garmin GPSMap 60cx, but I'm thinking of getting something for my wife that she can use in her Jeep while driving to find addresses (she makes visits to people's houses for work), but is also capable to use on backroads and to geocache. Thanks, Blake
  5. Yes, that is it. I had numerous problems with the connections between my Mac and the Garmin today. Finally got the GPS working fine, but had some problems getting some 3rd party maps to download to it from the Mac. Gave up for now.
  6. Ok, I'm starting to figure out what the difference is now. The expensive maps are much more detailed than the ones with the whole US on one DVD. But they are not all available for the whole country yet. Blake
  7. I went to mygarmin.com and looked at the maps page, but it's so confusing I can't even find a Topo that includes Ohio and Pennsylvania. And why are they so expensive now. Last year a friend bought one on Ebay that had the whole US on one DVD for 50 bucks. Blake
  8. I just updated the software in my 60Cx and the first result was 4.00 and 0.00. Had to go back and do it again and check on Update Chipset Type G. Once that installed, all was well. Now trying to find decent maps to download that will work with my Mac and BaseCamp.
  9. Couldn't get the ones I downloaded from them to download to the GPS or to open in BaseCamp.
  10. Thank you very much! Now I have to get the topo maps that will work with the Mac.
  11. I'm a little confused about MacGPSPro... when going to this site http://www.macgpspro.com/?id=143 - what do you get for the $59? Do you get the whole United States topo maps, or do you just get the program with no maps, and then have to buy each state separately? I know this is 3 years after some of these posts were made, so is this still the best Mac Topo choice out there? I have a Garmin GPSMap 60Cx. Thanks.
  12. The newest version of Flip4Mac works ok with Garmin Communicator. I just went through this whole scenario tonight and now everything works. Blake
  13. Thanks!!! That fixed it. As soon as I got rid of the Flip4Mac version I had and reloaded the Garmin plugin - it worked! I then downloaded the newest Flip4Mac and installed it and the Garmin still worked. Is there any other Mac software that you would recommend I install? I downloaded MacCache.com and am giving that a try. Thanks, Blake
  14. I have a Garmin 60Cx and a Mac Powerbook. Up until now the GPS has had no problem receiving "Send to GPS" messages from cache pages. But now when I try to download the the GPS, I get the message "Garmin Communicator Plugin NOT detected." I have tried downloading the latest version of the Communicator plug in, but after that it goes to the Garmin Communicator Test page and says "Garmin Communicator Plugin is NOT detected." When I go to the Interface selection on the GPS it says USB Not Connected. Does this even have anything to do with the browser? I am running Safari 4.0.3. Thanks for your help. Blake
  15. I made a mount out of PVC pipe that velcos to the top of the dash in my truck and my company truck. Works really good, though not fancy. Blake
