I think this forum is getting off subject. I guess i was misleading when i said gas prices are getting out of hand. All I was trying to say is it is high and I love mountain biking and geocaching so why not do both at the same time. And to all the people talking about how cheap it is and how much they drive to go caching, believe me I know how much a person can drive. I drive a minimum of 120mi. per day for work. So yes gas is expensive, but i guess all i meant was why not kill 2 birds with one stone!!!

fuel prices are getting way out of hand, and i don't know my way around very well. does any one know how to make a bicycle handlebar mount for my streetpilot c330? Or does anyone know where to buy one? I am not sure if anything like this is even around, I couldn't find anything. I have a etrex H so i don't have the option to put city navigator on my gps.

You can buy the serial to usb converter for $8 including shipping on ebay and the serial cable for the same amount. Make sure you buy a serial cable for the etrex H because they sell a serial to usb converter cable, my past experiance is that they don't work. So be sure you buy a regular serial cable for the etrex H and a seperate serial to usb converter. Also i have expeirnced some problems with converter software and windows vista, but xp works well with it.

I have tried my hardest and i still can't find a couple caches by my house. The caches are by the same hider and one of them already has a hint, but it is just not helping me. Do you think it is ok to ask for another hint? I have done this two times is the past and both times the hider was more than willing to help, and i put in both e-mails that i would not log as a find since i asked for a hint, but niether time the hider had any problem. So what do you think?

I have a palm M130, gateway laptop with windows vista running gsak. When i go to gsak and export a cachemate file everything works fine. I click generate and i get a screen that say cachemate CMconvert and i click ok. Then a screen comes up which is the quick install and it says confirm add at the top of it now i think this is where the problem is under the name column their is a yellow ! and it has the pdb file and under the destination column it says file not found. Now on my old computer these columns would read under name it say the pdb file and under destination it say handheld. Please i need help does anyone know about sending waypoints to cahcemate on my m130 with window vista and gsak. I hope i did not just confuse the heck out of every one.

My mom has a etrex vista with a serial cable to send waypoints. She recently got a new laptop and it does not have a serial for. Can i buy a usb cord off ebay or garmin and will it work with her vista which came with the serial? I no you can get a serial to usb adapter, but i have heard a lot of horror stories about them.

you can use a tomtom one or garmin streetpilot thought it is not a good idea because they don't display the cooridnates and they are not rugged at all!

I know this is a gps garage sale but in the guidlines post it says any geocaching related items. So to get to the point i am looking for a child carrier for my 9month old. I am looking to spend less the $70 including shipping. Prefferably looking for a chicco or a kelty or something like one of these. I too use a palm IIIxe with cachemate and gsak on the comp. If you look on ebay their are literaly hundreds of IIIxe. Their is one seller in particular i will garruntee you will see that sells these IIIxe for $.99 plus $14.00 shipping. Plus you go get cachemate off the net for $8 and you are set. It is extremely easy and any questions you have will be answered in this forum or gsak forum. If you do get this combination of IIIxe, cachemate, and gsak feel free to email me personally if you have any questions!!

My wife and i really enjoy caching but we often have a hard time finding a babysitter to watch our son. He is 9months old so i thought it would be a little tough to carry him and cache at the same time, and i thoulght if I put him in one of the pack pack things that can go on your back or chest that he might just get scratched up with sticks and what not. Now i live in WI so caching right now with him is definately out of the question as it is way to cold but in the summer i would like to. Does anyone cache with their very little ones and if so how do you go about it?

Actually i just figured it out Hotsync manager was open at the bottom right of the screen and once i closed that everything works fine, but thanks for the suggestion.

I have in the past never had a problem sending waypoints to my etrex H using a serial cable and gsak. I recently got a palm IIIxe and unhooked my etrex serial cable to hook up the palm crade and the hotsync works great, but now i unhooked the palm and hooked the etrex back up and when i try to send my caches to it i get an error message saying com port is not open or something like that. Does anyone have any ideal what the heck this means or what i need to do? thanks

Awesome, thanks for the help that is exactly what i was looking for! Hey The_Matneys' so you know what you have to do so all of you hints are encrypted? I want the hints in cachemate but i don't want to be able to read them when i open the page on accident. So far i have only figured out to go into each cache and manually encrypt each one individually.

Yes this will work, but otherwise you can copy and paste from screen to screen.

If you did not find it first, it is not a FTF. You have experianced what happens from time to time when trying to get FTF on a cache. I did delete the ftf part of the original log. Just thought i should say this so people are not answering to a dead post. Thanks for all the insight!

Yes their is, depending of the program you are using to manage your waypoints on your computer you can put all the waypoint in that specific program then send all them to your gps. for example open your pq with easy gps and on the top of the screen under the gps tab click send waypoints to gps here you will have the option to send all to gps. Or open gsak and then click the open icon, open the pq you saved and then send all waypoints to gps.

Yes thats exactly what i did

I went out after this cach GC10D94 in Feb. but came up empty handed. Shortly their after the owner put in a log saying they think the cache is missing and would check on it soon, then another log saying cache was indeed missing and put a new cache with new cords. Check out the logs, should i have logged this as a FTF or is it just another find? I don't have a problem with changing my log if i am wrong, I was just excited to get my first FTF!!!!

How can i get emails when new caches are place in my area? I have seen a couple of post where people have mentioned they get these emails. (not just the weekly groundspeek newsletter)

Did your friend put florida maps on it? Because if he didn't all the legend comes with is a basic base map that will show nearby highways and interstates. Their should not be any like updating you need to do unless you want to buy more detailed maps (city navigator or something like this). You can download easy gps I think this is the easiest to use or gsak which is a little more complicated but has some really nice features (download for your computer not gps). Then go to cache page and click on .gpx file and open it with one of the two programs above. Send to gps with serial cable as this is what i am asuming you have, and go out and have fun.
