  1. Has anyone else experienced this problem with their Colorado, Oregon or Dakota?

When I'm checking the distance to a certain point on a map on my Colorado the units are wrong in some settings. This error have been there from the beginning, at least what I can remember. I have now updated to latest fw 3.10, but the error is still there!

Here are all the settings you can do:

    • When set to Nautical (nm, kt, ft) shorter distances should be measured in feet and longer in nautical miles, but it first measures in feet (correct), then in english miles!

    • When set to Nautical (nm, kt, m) shorter distances should be measured in meters and longer in nautical miles, but it first measured in meters (correct), then in kilometers! :)

    • When set to Yards it should be first measured in yards and then in nautical miles, but it first measured in feet(!), then in english miles! I never use yards, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I think shorter distances should be measured in yards, why else have the option? :)

    • When set to Statute (Brittish) it is correct, first feet and longer distances in miles.

    • When set to Metric it is of also correct, first meters and longer distances in kilometers.

I have sent e-mails to techsupp@garmin.com and their different beta-mail addresses for the Colorado to inform them about the errors but so far no success.

  2. As the owner of all three mentioned units I will say that they do a good job of road navigation--many people shut off the voice prompts on their nuvi's etc as they quite often have a back seat driver with them already---the sounds are a little weak on the oregon and louder on the other two, however a turn screen appears before the turn to alert you visually of the required action--just my $0.02 worth--twisty

    Hi,

Do you get a special turn screen before the turn on the Oregon? Like in the 60-series? Because that is something I have been missing in the Colorado. It is possible to find the turn screen in the Colorado but it does not popup automatically before each turn.

  3. ...

I'm very dissapointed with the latest software update but I don't think the story is over for the Colorado line just yet. Maybe I'm being too much of an optimist.

Agreed. I am not certain what has happened to some of these Colorado owners but my unit has been very reliable. Especially with all the upgrades.

I wish some would understand the difference between requesting an addtional feature and an actual bug in the system.

To my biggest surprize Garmin have fixed a really annoying bug with misplacing of spindle/spar buoys in BlueChart! But they did not mentioned it in the Change History list! Are they so ashamed about that bug and that it took only 6 months to fix it?

But there are still some things to fix to make it useful with BlueChart, I still get distances to marked points i kilometers instead of nautical miles, the BlueChart symbols are still way too big, they have much better sizes in my old 60CS that has a smaller screen with lower resolution!

  5. I have had my Colorado for almost one day now and I got at least 12 hours with a pair of 2700mAh NiMh Varta batteries. I used it on my way to the office and it stayed on for all day in the office with poor GPS signals. When I got home I switched batteries and then it still was one bar left in the battery indicator. And the GPS did not complain about discharge batteries.

I used the back light as little as possible but were still playing with settings etc during the day.

FYI, I'm still using firmware 2.20.
