  1. There is still no way to see if a waymark has been declined by another officer and why, when it resubmitted. Something like a history of the waymark would be a great addition. We also need to have the photos from visits not be allowed to be the default image for the waymark
  2. For about the next 3 weeks geoware is doing maintence on existing Earthcaches both here and on gc.com bringing them all into compliance or archiving them. So it will probably be after that is finished when they migrate back.
  3. We have been able to be officers in as many Categories that we wish to be in. The only expansion is to go from leading 5 Categories to 10 Categories that we can create and lead.
  4. I think I have an answer. This is my thinking: In my new Category for Anamorohosis srteet Art for example I placed a rate variable. What I was going for is that someone may know where one of these exists and then go get all the particulars.;but after viewing it in person they might not enjoy that particular street art, ), but they still choose to create the Category as they went to the trouble to go and view it get coords etc, but once there it only midly touched their soul for a rateing of say 3 instead of a 5 star. If you guys think this is not what it is meant for then I need to rethink most of the Categories that I lead. I have the same for My lighthouse B& B. Lets say someone loves lighthouses found one that is a b&B and went their cause they were going to be in the area any way and specifically decided to use the B&B as they could use it to create a waymark ( As they love Waymarking ). But once there they felt it did not come up to their expectations of a 5 star place but they liked it enoguh to let others know it was a 3 star for them. And they did go to the trouble to create photos etc (I have though made these particular variables optional). So what does everyone else think. After some serious discussions in emails , I am now tending to think that this variable should be in the visit and not the waymark
  5. Thts right, I do all the work and you guy's take all the credit!! All kidding aside great job everyone.
  6. ILet me take a guess 1)historic marker by state or province 2) Blue plaque 3) There must be a benchmark in there 4)This was a former Military Installation 5)It was original designed by Frank Lyod Wright 6)It is a ghost town 7)An Infamous crime happened here 8)This site was immortalizzed in Lyrics 9)In the background is a Nuclear Power pLant 10)It is a news article location 11)Wikipedia site 12) And finally it is a weird story location I think my best is 5 for one My favorite though is Cadillac Ranch with 5 It is a Roadside attraction, graffitti , Immortalized in Lyrics by Bruce Springstein, Art vehicle and finally a wikipedia site. I am searching for a recent web site news article to make this location a 6 but have not found it yet. Now all I need is for someone to make a movie there and I 'll have another.
  7. Don't know if this is an error or operator error. I can't seem to look at all the waymarks in a category anymore. I can adjust this up to 200 miles but this does me no good,as waymarks in a specific category are usually several hundred miles apart.

  9. Thanks Nate, Love all your assistance in geetting the hang of the updates. Whooo Hooo! I have downloaded Coords!!!
  10. To me it is both a game and a resource. For example if I want to go on vacation and I like to visit some place that has tours and wiieries togerther , I would load all the loc's for the waymarks in a particular state and visit them on vacation. ) great resource) I also would be challenging myself to create some waymarks while in the area, which is the game part to me.
  11. Nate I did just that ; but only 9 lighthouse show up in the search, and two of those are not in NJ, When in actuality there are 11 coastal lights waymarked for NJ This is what shows on the search http://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx...o=True&tp=2 likewise I wanted to test downloading locs for NJ's wineries and doing the above only gets me two wineries in actuality there are 24 winery waymarks in NJ ( I know they are mine) http://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx...ersey&gid=6 I really need to have all one of a kind when I am searching a state so that I can visit the waymarks in the state I am visiting in in the Categories I like. Please I like the new site but I need the site to still do this type of advanced search like before.
  12. Ok I am lost ! I can not find how to search for specific thigns, I used to be able to do an advanced search and put in Coastal Lighthouse then NJ and come up with all the Lighthouses in NJ , now I can not seem to do that. Any help?
  13. Well I have set up another Category. I am inviting others to join the managment group here. http://www.Waymarking.com/groups/details.a...4f56e&wst=6
  14. LAst months photo winner has not been determined yet. We are still voting. And both the drawing for the jeep and the sweepstakes contest contest does not end until DEC 31, 2006
  15. Well if you have not started to bring your Earthcaches or waymarks into compliance please do so ASAP. This log was on one I haave not had a chance to fix yet. They are only giving us 10 days to comply Location: Costa Rica geoaware posted a reviewer note for Sit'in On Top of the World Earthcache (Earthcache) at 10/10/2006 Log Date: 10/10/2006 Requires Maintenance Hi, As part of the process of EarthCaches returning to geocaching.com, every EarthCache is reviewed to ensure that each EarthCache listing adheres to the new guidelines. We wanted to inform you that your EarthCache has been reviewed but does not meet the new guidelines. Can you please read the guidelines carefully below and adjust your EarthCache listing so that it meets the guidelines? Once you have made changes, please email me (glewis@geosociety.org) and I will review the updated listing. EarthCaches that do not meet the guidelines by 20 October will be archived. Please let me know how I may be of further assistance. Regards, Geoaware
  16. Dawgs After reading your request to start another group I had to chime in. Before you start up another Category I would suggest that you concentrate on making Skateboard Parks a little more interesting first. That Category ( Skateboard Parks) is currently on probation as it does not even have the approiate amount of Officers. I also am aware that officers abandoned the category for reasons I think it not conducive to post here. FOR those interested this comment came with the Peer Review 'Groundspeak' commented that they had "no idea why the category passed but now that it has officers should work on the details and variables"; and although I believe the Category Skateboards should be on this site, the description page in my opinion needs work it does not in my opinion draw waymarkers to waymark any Skateboard Parks; I suggest that you add some variables so that Skateboarders would know what to expect ;like does it have rails, jumps, ledges, flat banks, and even ramps. A web link were waymarkers could locate a skateboard park would also be highly attractive and draw waymarkers to your Category. Like this one. http://www.skateboardparks.com/ My suggestion is too Make your first Category really, really work before you go creating another one.
  17. YEs the one I posted was only In that area but this is more general for Awards http://www.studio2b.org/next/takeaction/ Geocaching http://www.studio2b.org/lounge/gs_stuff/ip_tech.asp this project from Girs in Maryland "Ages 16 & 15 Girl Scouts of Central Maryland Project Title: Learn to Geocache. 18. I thought I remembered a thread on Geocaching topics at gc.com This was started on Sept 16. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...thcache+returns and this is what a moderator said "From what I understand, the old ones on GC will be reviewed and relisted if they qualify. The ones on the WM site will then be reviewed and moved over if they qualify. The category will then be closed on the WM site." The prliminary work has began, Geoware has begun posting Maintence logs on All Earthcaches at gc.com( He has been un vacation but when he returns he will begin in earnest. The plan as I understand it is to gradually over the next three weeks, Give everyone a chance to update them to meet the guidlines by following the maintenance log on the earthcache. If the guidlines are not met the Earthcache will be will be archived (as I understand things_. Those on Waymarking when they meet the guidlines will be transferred back to gc.com.
  19. Yes I am a waymarker & cacher. I have no earthcache waymarks though; but I do have 3 Earthcaches on gc.com and I received the email. Furthermore I was told recently in an email by geoware who approves Earthcaches that over the next several weeks he will be posting Maintence logs on all Earthcaches both at Waymarking and gc.com, saying if they comply with the new guidleines or not. And yes one of my Earthcaches has a maintence log that says it meets the new guidelines. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...cc-75eb06ce4d2a

  21. Sounds ok, but it would not be a sub-Category. You would need to create a group and manage the Category. When you create the Category you can suggest that you think it fits in the directory under Sports & Recreation. We cannot create sub categories only Categories and the index sub-category is only the nomenclature TPTB use to place the Categories within the directory. You start by creating a group and inviting others and then work out the details.
  22. My Earthcache event is now listed!! Please take a look and visit my Earthcache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...cf-7c6a66bbf2e4
  23. Make it into a travel bug and ask cachers to post its current coords in the log. Then have them move the travel bug from location to location.
