  2. I had a problem getting a rebate from Staples one time. I submitted the proper forms , did everything right and waited...... and waited. Finally i got a letter in the mail saying the rebate is not a Staples rebate but a manufacturers rebate and i needed to resubmit a new rebate form. I did what was required and sent it in again only to get a letter back saying that the rebate had expired, that i sent the new paper work in to late. So i went to the Better Business Bureau online and filed a complant. I got my rebate 2 weeks later.
  3. State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations
  4. At times , in heavy tree cover, my etrex loses connection. When this happens, holding it up arms length over my head seems to get me reconnected fast. To other hikers (non caching types) i look like the Statue of Liberty with my etrex held high in my right hand and the print out of the cache pages held close to my chest. Normal use i hold it in front of me horizontally.
  5. In my opinion, if you need an additional hint, you should contact the cache owner and ask him/her. It really isn't fair to the owner of this cache to have his puzzle discussed and possibly solved in the forums.
  6. I'm using a Palm Tungsten E . In addition to all the previous mentioned uses, I added a 128 MB memory card and stereo head phones and now it becomes a pda and a MP3 player. I can store 30 or more songs on it , more then enough for a morning of caching.
  7. Try this program. GeoClipping I use it with my Tungstsen E , It works great
  8. So you're saying that a cache in a hole dug only by using one's hands would be aproved?
  9. Thats called hunter harassment and is illegal in some states.
  10. I use easyGPS along with USAphotomaps It gives topo as well as photo maps. Both are free or donation ware .
  11. View the source of this page, nothing hidden in upinyachit"s post .

  13. Caching Life Good job navdog! Thats worthy of a bookmark for sure.
  14. When your cache is approved, go to the bottom of your cache page and it'll say Approved By: with the name of the approver
  15. Hunting season starts in 2 weeks where i have a cache. I simply posted the rules that require day glow orange to be worn along with the dates the rules are in effect. The people seeking my cache can decide for themselves if they want to go find it or not during hunting season.
  16. Finally, a good thread on geocaching.com forums! I might stick around after all.

  18. Thanks for that explanation EraSeek, much appreciated.
  19. Yes Brian, I have the latest update installed. Team360, i didn't know about the water might be bouncing signals. I did notice a couple of tmes that the arrow turned around almost 160 degrees in the opposite direction of the cache i was hunting. My experance so far has been under tree cover so when i was on the beach and saw all those sats connected i was in awe. I know we're talking about only 16 feet here, i was just expecting more out in the open.
  20. I use a Garmin eTrex Venture with the lastest software upgrade. I was out this morning on a beach right on the ocean. It's accually an Island. There was clear unobstructed views of the sky and unlimited view to the horizon to the east and south. My GPS showed it had locked onto 10 sats including the WAAS sat and still it showed the accuracy only to be with in 26 feet. I disabled WAAS and it immediately showed accuracy to with in 10 feet. Enabled and disabled it a couple of times and each time it was more accurate with WASS disabled. Shouldn't it be more accurate with WAAS enabled? Or should WASS only be used to set a way point? I'm confused.......
  21. Thanks everybody,i now have a better understanding of tb's. I never knew to look for instructions on the tb itself or on the catch page.
  22. I'm new to this and i don't want to upset anybody by doing the wrong thing with a travel bug. I have found 2 travel bugs but didn't take them because i wasn't sure weather they are meant to travel a long distance or just to another local cache or anyplace the finder is going. And what about a time limet? What if i can't get to another cache site for a week?Is it fair to keep the bug for a week or longer before puting it in another catch? So far I'm only going to a 35 to 40 mile radius of home.
